This charming, 18th century, country house near the town of Sarteano has been restored with great care and exquisite taste by the owner, preserving its unique atmosphere and with great attention to comfort. It sleeps six guests in three double-size bedrooms each with its own en suite bathroom.

Part of the surrounding two acres of private land is planted with an organic vegetable garden and olive trees. The garden has various shaded sitting corners and a beautifully designed solarium on a wood deck with sun beds and comfortable chairs, a reed covered porch, and a jacuzzi heated whirlpool to be enjoyed in all seasons.

The house is just off the main road that links Sarteano to San Casciano dei Bagni at approximately one-and-one-half miles from Sarteano, a lovely medieval town with grocery and wine shops, various handicraft shops, bank and chemist, and a couple of good restaurants.

The ground floor has an eat-in, fully-equipped kitchen opening to a dining area under a pergola. On one side of the kitchen is a cozy sofa that faces the open fireplace. The beautiful floor is made of an antique Sienese stone called "pietra serena." Next to the kitchen the dining room opens on the outside through an impressive stone archway. There is a half bath on the ground floor beside the kitchen.

A stone staircase leads to a small loggia which enjoys a wonderful view on the surrounding landscape, a lovely sitting corner where to enjoy a breakfast or just linger to watch the sunset and the surrounding hills with the medieval town of Città della Pieve in the far distance. By the loggia is the living room/studio with a fireplace, comfortable chairs, the TV set, bookshelves with a good selection of books in three languages, and a writing desk. The master bedroom by the living room has an en suite bathroom with bath tub. The second double-size bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower. The house has under-the-floor heating with independent control in each room, with no radiators to be seen and the pleasure of walking barefoot in the house in winter time.

The third bedroom is in a charming stone building that was once a small stable just off the main house. This room has a kitchenette, a refrigerator, and a breakfast area for two by the entrance. A low wall made of terracotta bricks separates this area from the bedroom that is on a split level. Also, this bedroom has an en suite shower room. All the three bathrooms have hair dryers. This separate building is part of the house and is never rented separately.

Th owners produce an excellent organic olive oil as well as organic vegetables that the gardener will pick up on request for the guests of the house.

This is an ideal area to visit some of the most interesting sights of Southern Tuscany and Umbria.
Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Cetona, san Casciano dei Bagni and the Trasimeno lake are at less then 1 hour drive.
Siena, Perugia, Arezzo and Orvieto at approx. 1 hour.
Firenze, Assisi, the Chianti region and the seaside at approx. 1 hour 30 min.,
2 hours to Rome and 2.30 hours to Pisa.
The train station is at 20 min. drive.
