San Francisco and Golden Gate Views from Tiburon Estate
- Minimum stay:4 nights

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
No hotel or resort can offer the privacy, stunning views or luxurious amenities of our Golden Gate Villa. Located on the beautiful Tiburon Peninsula, in close proximity to everything San Francisco has to offer. No other villa rental can compare.
Who knew a San Francisco villa rental could be like this? Located on a half-acre estate; our luxury villa is a private, rejuvenating, 3,000 sq.ft. space. With its beautifully manicured gardens and quality designer furnishings, it's the perfect place to take a breath, relax and recover; choose a different activity every day or to entertain.
If you want to explore, there are endless things to see and do. Dynamic and historic San Francisco is only a 15 minute ferry ride away. You're within easy reach of many different attractions including world-class golf at Pebble Beach, tours of famous Alcatraz Island or Hearst Castle and tickets to Giants' baseball games.
The San Francisco Bay is perfect for boating or sailing, and there are many wonderful beaches to explore.
Our luxury villa is located at the water's edge, over-looking historic Tiburon, with its many restaurants, cafes, shopping and the popular 'Friday nights on Main Street'.
Villa Golden Gate features dramatic, open architecture and soaring 16-foot ceilings. We have a library of over 300 books for you to enjoy, and throughout the home are special treasures, such as an original Louis XVI mirror, Kandinsky lithographs and an exclusive 1922 Cappiello poster.
The living room's giant picture window affords an unobstructed, 250 degree view, including San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Mt. Tamalpais. With its 5 foot tall limestone fireplace and lovely handmade Stark leopard carpet, there are also three luxurious white sofas, two of which fold out into comfortable queen and twin beds. Hidden in the fireside cabinetry is a large flat screen TV with satellite service and DVD player along with children and adult toys.
The dining room, with its hand-crafted Ruhlmann buffet and hand-painted Nancy Corzine table, is adorned with a 350-year old pair of Louis XV, bronze dore' candelabra. The silver is Christofle and the linens are luxurious Irish and Italian. French double doors open to a large, wrap-a-round balcony, and the large picture and mitered corner windows provide reach-out-and-touch views of The Golden Gate Bridge and The San Francisco skyline.
Everyone's favorite room, the kitchen, features imported French lighting, an Italian marble island, Gaggenau appliances and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. Another French door leads out to the balcony, with its new DCS BBQ and imported Italian wood burning pizza oven. Our concierge can provide you with a personal chef for all or part of your stay. We will stock the refrigerator as you require, and a lovely breakfast comes carte blanche, as requested, for your first morning. The kitchen's view is of The City and Bridge as well.
The Hermitage office is the perfect place to take care of any business affairs. The 2nd Kandinsky hangs here, over a special antique marble fireplace mantle, filled with fossils. Telephone, fax, printer, WiFi, iPad, iPod, B & O speakers for all iProducts
and a MacBook Pro laptop are available for your use. You will find all books here, specifically on California. There are also file cabinets organized with all the information you may need to run the villa, and every office supply. An ADS music system controls built-in speakers throughout the house from here, and your view is of The City skyline.
And, saving the best for last, the sumptuous master suite; from where you have a stunning view of Mt. Tamalpais, known as the Sleeping Lady by the local Miwok indians, as well as of the Golden Gate. This all-white room is adorned with beautiful Italian lighting, new shag carpeting, a king sized Duxiana bed, flat screen TV, and French doors opening to your private patio, where a new McGuire chaise lounge for two awaits. The owner's collection of 12 vintage photographs hang here, as well as the 3rd Kandinsky.
Every detail in the master suite is designed for two. All maple walk-in closets with a delightful Louis XV mirror, and hidden 'pocket' doors for your privacy. This is where you will find your El Safe, for the security of your personal belongings.
And next is the all Beaumaniere French marble, master bathroom; with a 2 person shower, vanity table, double vanity sinks and a Jacuzzi whirlpool bath tub, of course, for two. And a beautiful view, as with every room.
Because the villa was designed by the owner, great attention was made to every detail. Next to your maple closets is where the spacious laundry room is located, with another French door leading to a special private patio with table and chairs over-looking an antique fountain.
Finally, our large, private Junior Suite, with lovely shower, desk, easy chair, flat screen TV, Keurig coffee maker and private shade garden with seating and marble table.

This is an extraordinary home that I feel lucky enough to have been able to stay in. I could tell from the pictures there was a good view of the Golden Gate and the city, but the actual views where far MORE breathtaking. Every aspect of this home was in the absolute best taste imaginable. From the glass corner windows throughout the house that made the views and light more extraordinary, to one of the best kitchens I have ever been fortunate enough to cook in, to the wonderful decor, furniture, fixtures, art work and magnificent grounds, this house is an absolute marvel. We did not go out for dinner once; we just kept shopping and bringing supplies needed to fully enjoy this special, special place. The owner is both very friendly and accommodating as well. And it is a very easy trip to almost anywhere in the North Bay Area, easy access to the East Bay as well, and was a very easy trip from SFO airport if one avoids the busiest times. We can't wait to rent this wonderful house again!!!! FIVE STARS !!!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Everything inside and out was picture perfection. We enjoyed 'hanging out' so much in this lovely, spacious villa we rarely left, except for beautiful ferry rides to San Francisco, in only 15 minutes. We will be back as soon as we can, and give this special rental 5 Stars!!!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had several things to do on our itinerary; friends to visit and great restaurant recommendations. But we could not and did not leave Villa Golden Gate, except for trips to the market. We have never had nor seen such an incredible home, kitchen and VIEWS. Everywhere you look is beauty; the architecture, the fantastic kitchen looking straight out to San Francisco and the striking Golden Gate. The beauty of the interior and thoughtfulness of the owner could not be surpassed. Can't recommend rate highly enough nor wait until our return. We will definitely tell our friends about this treasure.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

A superb experience. We are property owners ourselves and have rented privately several times. This property is AMAZING. The pictures don't do it justice. Sandra, the owner is so generous, we couldn't believe how many "extras" there were and the high spec finishes throughout made it truly special. And then there are the views. And I mean views, not view. The villa has been designed and built to take advantage of both incredible views of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge to the south and west, as well as delightful views over Tiburon harbour and north to Mount Tamalpais. This was definitely a place that was difficult to drag ourselves away from - even though the great ferry service to San Francisco was an short ride through the winding streets. Tiburon is a delightful little town too, with a nice selection of restaurants etc. Plan to spend a bit of time here. But plan to spend time at Via Golden Gate too - why leave when you have a truly luxurious and spectacular villa with those views? Can't recommend it highly enough. We'd love to return. Thanks for everything Sandra!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent a month in Villa Golden Gate, and it was wonderful. The views are, indeed, absolutely jaw-dropping; and amazingly, they change dramatically with the time of day or weather. Yet they are truly equaled by the beauty of the villa itself (meticulously designed by the owner Sandra), with its vaulted spaces and outdoor terraces. As noted in another review, the villa is rather like a penthouse, as Sandra and her assistant live on the floor below, though totally separately. And they both go out of their way to be unobtrusive yet responsive to any request immediately. It is definitely hotel service in a villa rental. The main living space is large and open, with a bedroom suite and luxurious bath, living room, dining area, eat-in kitchen, laundry, powder room and office, all with fantastic views. We had friends visit, and made use of the 2nd bedroom (and full bath) and living room sleep sofa. This 2nd bedroom is totally separate, on the lower level, and is accessed via the front terrace and outdoor steps. It is large and can be set up as a king size bed or two twins. The living room sleep sofa was reported to be very comfortable. The villa's location is really ideal for visiting local Marin towns, the coastal regions and wine country. It's also an easy walk into town (if you don't mind steep hills and steps), where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks at any number of restaurants, shop, go for a run, or hop a ferry to San Fran or Angel Island. Regardless of your activities, I guarantee you will be anxious to return "home" to this piece of paradise. We were certainly sad to have our month here end, but we are comforted by the hope that we can return to this very special place in the future! The sleep sofa was, as reported to us, quite comfortable.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Truly a lovely place, very comfortable, spacious, with breathtaking views. More like an ultra deluxe penthouse, with the owner living below, although you'd never know she's there. Spectacular for couples, the second bedroom is outside and downstairs, not great at night and in the rain, but otherwise perfectly comfortable as well. The property is clean, beautifully decorated and has an open airy feel. Mostly, though it's all about that view. At night, sunset, sunrise, sunny, foggy, doesn't matter, it's awesome. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for such a stellar review. Sorry for the rain, in December! We work very hard to make sure that you also have a stellar stay with us, private, but with 24 hour service. A good combination, we hope! We were very happy to be able to host our 6 person maximum with no complaints - a side from rain. And for us to hear how much you appreciated Villa Golden Gate, makes it all worth it; as we want nothing more than a truly memorable stay, in delightful, well-maintained accommodations. Thank you again. We look forward to your return visit.

Villa was clean and well stocked. Not a two bedroom but sleeper sofa in living room unless there is a bedroom hiding somewhere I wasn't showm. So glad our friends were unable to join us. Also owner lives on property in the downstairs portion which was a surprise to me. Had trouble getting directions and instructions prior to stay. Was calling and emailing the week prior to stay trying to get some info and finally got an answer the day before we were to arrive when the phone was finally answered. Got an email but poor instructions. Arrived at villa with gated entry and no instructions how to get in. Fortunately someone answered the phone number I had thought to save in my phone and opened the gate and to our surprise lived on the premises. I value my privacy very much and was very disappointed that this important piece of information was withheld. We only saw the owners assistant however, it is very disconcerting knowing there are occupants in the same home when I expected complete privacy after reading the description in the listing. I have rented numerous properties and have never had this difficulty getting information prior to stay nor have I ever experienced other occupants on premises during my stay that was not predisclosed.Owner response: We sincerely apologize for any consternation we may have, unwiltingly, caused our guests. However, there appears to be great confusion; so much so, that we initially thought the review was mistakenly about a different property! As advertised, we absolutely have a stunning 2nd Junior Suite, with its own private entrance, shade garden and lovely seating area. Also as advertised, we have 2 new sofa sleepers, one Queen and 1 Full. We offer a viewing of our 2nd suite to all guests, and we have had very positive feedback, which we greatly appreciate. Unfortunately here, our invitation was refused with the response 'We don't need to see it. We are traveling alone.' A photo of the very well-equipped 2nd suite is posted on VRBO. The villa is only 3,000 sq. ft, the entire top floor of a 5,000 sq ft. mansion, where honestly, I could not let my best friend stay here, alone. And since you don't hear me or see me, I am also confused how this is a problem? I am truly sorry that our guests wanted absolute privacy. Since we advertise a complementary deluxe breakfast, which they asked to be served at 8am, I don't know why they accepted such an intrusion, or how they thought we could serve it from off-site? And since I am crippled, living in 1 sound-proofed room, our guests usually ask to meet me, which I decline. Instead, our guests leave beautiful notes and every present I could imagine - orchid plants, truffles, several gift baskets, fantastic wines, and the best present of all. Our second guests, who come here often to see their children and grand-children, went home and immediately made 5 more reservations, stating. "From now on, I'm only staying with Sandra." Regarding the 'poor' directions, I can only say that my phone WAS out of order, I did NOT receive any emails, the guests arrived on time with no complaints. The only possible confusion, regarding our poor directions, is that we have a standard Door King unit with a 'call' button. I mistakenly thought this button was obvious, as once pressed, my phone rings and I send out my assistant, Mariah, to welcome our guests and explain the workings of the villa. This has worked well for 25 years, however, from now on, I will explain that the 'Call' button needs to be pressed. My apologies, and I thank you sincerely for pointing this out.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: I Worked in the Hotel industry AND on Rodeo Drive, where I learned the art of catering to a person's or guests' every need. This, coupled with my extensive, First Class travel experiences taught me all the luxurious appointments First Class traveler's expect.
Why the Owner Chose Belvedere:
I was 'smitten' by Belvedere, on my first visit here in 1984, and haven't regretted one minute of this love affair. I had the great fortune and ability to design and build Villa Golden Gate, which was then named by 2 Roman guests, telling me: 'They don't even build villas this beautiful in Rome any longer!'
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Villa Golden Gate is located directly above downtown Tiburon and only 15 minutes to San Francisco, by ferry. The villa's Concierge has lived here 30 years and can make almost anything happen, making your stay enjoyable, in every way.
