Barrier Dunes townhome description
This recently constructed, and beautifully furnished end unit is in the premier secure gated community of Barrier Dunes, You'll feel special from the moment you arrive!
Mature landscaping with palm tree, boardwalks, stocked fishing ponds, tennis courts, and 2 outdoor pools will affirm you've made the best selection on the cape. But that's just the beginning! Stroll a few hundred feet and cross over the stunning 20' high sand dunes to the sugary white sand beach fronting the Gulf of Mexico.
One look and you'll know why 'Dr. Beach' declared it America's #1 beach. At first glance, be amazed at the splendid serenity, then look for the dolphins jumping in the surf, and come again and again for the magnificent sunsets over the sparkling water.
This isn't the overdeveloped crush and hurried pace of Central and South Florida. It is THE antidote to the busy lives we as Americans are consumed with. Whether alone, with a best friend, or your family; this is the place to reconnect with nature and each other.
Opportunities of a simple kind abound: shelling, walks along the beach and playing in the surf, fishing from the shore and the ponds, a round of tennis, splashing in the pool, grillling the local seafood on the deck, riding bikes on the quiet streets of Barrier Dunes, and adjacent St. Joseph Beach State Park while observing abundant wildlife. What'll it be for you? I feel more relaxed just telling you about it! Better still, all this is yours without getting back in your car.
OK, so your curious about the rest of the area. Go explore. There's shopping, galleries, restaurants, and more stretching from Mexico Beach through Port St. Joe past Eastpoint and St. George Island to Appalachicola with it's historic homes to Carrabelle. All within an hour drive. Slightly further and you can take a guided a boat trip at Wakulla Springs and see an incredible amount and variety of birds and my favorite, the alligators.
I've had the good fortune to travel in over 30 countries and have been visiting Florida for as many years. However, when my wife brought me to Barrier Dunes on Cape San Blas, I knew we'd found something special. Six weeks later we closed on our townhome and now we have the pleasure of extending a welcome to you to come and share this piece of paradise. Hope to hear from you soon!

We spent 4 days at this lovely townhome just prior to Thanksgiving and it was thoroughly enjoyable! The property is exactly as described in words and pictures and the beach is truly awesome. The townhome was immaculate and everything was in good working order. It's just a two or three minute walk to the beach and one pool and the tennis courts are only 50 feet away. It is private and the entire Barrier Dunes complex is beautifully maintained. This is a place that features peaceful beauty and the entire complex and beach are definitely pet friendly. Our dog loved the long walks on the beach and so did we. There is almost no commercial activity on Cape San Blas but it's an easy drive into Port Saint Joe, Mexico Beach or even Apalachicola. Enjoy!

My group of 5 and a dog had a really great time here! Clean condo - very helpful to have the washer / dryer and big master bedroom. I love the seclusion of the Cape San Blas area, and it's nice to have at least one restaurant close by in Coneheads. The owner was great to us also. I'd love to come back. The only bad thing about it was the pain of hauling heavy items to the beach from here, but I'd still come back.

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed yourself. Many folks, including myself, haul our stuff to the beach once, and leave it there until we leave at the end of the week. No one ever bothers any one else's chairs, tents, boogie boards, and floaters. That is one of the best aspects of the secluded beach of Barrier Dunes at Cape San Blas.

We had a great weekend at this beautiful townhome. The location was great. The beach and amenities was awesome and the home was clean and felt just like home. We are already talking about coming back longer next year. We only stayed for the weekend so we did not do much exploring. We spent most of the time on the beach and saw a variety of marine life: dolphins, crabs, fish stingrays, and jellyfish. My three year old daughter loved having her own "big girl" room. Definitely worth the money we spent. Loved it.

Lovely, well equipped unit that met all of our needs. Photos are a true representation of what you can anticipate. Firm King Bed with ceiling fans throughout. Very clean with calming decor. Booking was simple and all questions addressed promptly. Being a Floridian I expect a lot from a beach and was not disappointed. Nothing beats building drip sandcastles with your grandchild!

Owner response: We are happy to provide our special home to renters like you, who appreciate an enjoy the amenities we have to offer, including a beautiful Florida white sand beach. Thank you and tell your friends
Every detail was exactly as Chris said it would be. No surprises, just perfect. So clean and comfortable it felt just like home I would recommend this property. I would also recommend Boss Oysters in Apalachicola.

Loved the unit and Barrier Dunes in general. We've spent our Spring Break at Barrier Dunes many years now. Chris' unit was one of the best. Decorated nicely. One of the newer units on cement foundation instead of wood. Everything worked great and was in above average condition. It was great working with Chris ahead of time to make the reservation.

Amazing Time !
Amazing Time !
Dear Chris, We have been meaning to write but things have been so hectic since we arrived home. Just wanted to let you know we have such a nice time at your place. It was SO relaxing and quiet. If you want an escape for while, this is the place! It was especially nice to have ALL family members with us.... including our 'furry golden daughter'. She was on her best behavior as usual and settled in after the first day. Your place is very warm and inviting and we took good care of it. Thanks again for a lovely vacation.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Chris and Tom, while I was staying at Barrier Dunes in another unit. My wife and I have spent 15 weeks at the Cape over the past three years and are very familiar with the units at Barrier Dunes. I chose this unit to rent for my other family members who were coming down this year and couldn't have made a better choice. My family said it was the best vacation they have ever taken. They absolutely fell in love with it. The home is very clean and very quiet with attention to details. An all-around home run. I am reserving for next year Chris! Hope to enjoy another sunset with you both next June. Thanks again for such a great experience.

Owner response: It was great meeting you also. We are happy to provide our special home to renters like your family that enjoy the serenity of the beach at Barrier Dunes and Cape San Blas.
We had a wonderful stay. We were told the weather for the month of Feb. was exceptionally good. We experienced temps mosly in the 60's to 72. We did have two cold days of only 39 for a high. We rode bikes on the bike path (really nice) and lots of walks on the beautiful beach. I think we were the only people their without a dog. The people are really friendly. We ate in almost everyday. We did have the BEST bowl of Seafood chowder at the Coneheads restaurant. We also ate at Triple Tails and in Mexico beach at Toucan's and Mango Marlies. We loved all the restaurants. We would like to come again but staying in a different month. Chris and Tom thanks again for sharing your beautiful townhouse you were so helpful with everything.

Owner response: We are so glad you had a great vacation, but we're not surprised. We've had great times at Barrier Dunes and the Forgotten Coast since we bought the property in 2004. Tell your friends and family about this fantastic destination. There are many other great restaurants in Apalachicola, (second oldest city in Florida), Port St. Joe and Indian Pass. It's peaceful and relaxing along the beach in any season of the year. People love that it is pet friendly, but there are plenty of people that come to Barrier Dunes without pets. Thanks for staying with us.
We spent a week at this condo and we were very pleased. Barrier Dunes complex is very well kept, beautiful vegetation everywhere. And though this condo has no view of the water, the beach is just a short board walk away. The condo is nicely decorated, beautiful artwork, and very clean. The owner, Chris was always a phone call away and answered any questions we had. There is a bike path being developed on the Cape, and though it wasn't finished when we were there, we were able to bike quite a distance on the completed part of the path. We were also able to bike into the state park, which is right next door. We also spent a day exploring the nearby town of Appalachicola, which I highly recommend. The downtown area is full of little shops, great restaurants and beautiful historical homes. We are definitely planning a return to this quiet area. Even it the dead of summer, we weren't bothered by the usual summer crowds.

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: I am a retired art teacher from the Chicago area. Our family loves the beach at Cape San Blas. Our place is beautifully decorated. We are an end unit, which let's more light in, and is more spacious. We have a new refrigerator, gas grill, and air conditioning unit purchased in the last year. We also just upgraded 2 flat screen TV's. We are located right near, 30 seconds, to the pool and tennis courts. It is a 90 second walk over the boardwalks to the beach. We appreciate the fact that we can leave our chairs and umbrella up all week at the beach and not carry them back and forth Our deck has morning sun. We love to bike and hike in the St. Joe Peninsula State Park. We love to eat the great seafood in the nearby restaurants.
Why the Owner Chose Barrier Dunes:
We purchased our townhome in 2004 from an NFL football player. We love the uncrowded, sugary white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle. We enjoy the great fishing eating, shelling, biking, and relaxing at the gated community of Barrier Dunes
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
We love the small town of Port St. Joe. We shuck our own oysters that we purchase by the pound. We enjoy the most beautiful sunsets over the water. We also enjoy the shopping and great restaurants in historic Appalaciocola, the 2nd oldest city in Florida, only 30 minutes away. Also, we never miss a dinner at the Indian Pass Raw Bar during our visits. We take part in the several local activities whenever we can.
