Location: Barrier Dunes, Cape San Blas, Florida Main North West, Florida North West, Florida, USA (Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe Area,1 hour east of Panama City)
Accommodations: Townhome, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)
Keywords: Townhome
This recently constructed, and beautifully furnished end unit is in the premier secure gated community of Barrier Dunes, You'll feel special from the moment you arrive!
Mature landscaping with palm tree, boardwalks, stocked fishing ponds, tennis courts, and 2 outdoor pools will affirm you've made the best selection on the cape. But that's just the beginning! Stroll a few hundred feet and cross over the stunning 20' high sand dunes to the sugary white sand beach fronting the Gulf of Mexico.
One look and you'll know why "Dr. Beach" declared it America's #1 beach. At first glance, be amazed at the splendid serenity, then look for the dolphins jumping in the surf, and come again and again for the magnificent sunsets over the sparkling water.
This isn't the overdeveloped crush and hurried pace of Central and South Florida. It is THE antidote to the busy lives we as Americans are consumed with. Whether alone, with a best friend, or your family; this is the place to reconnect with nature and each other.
Opportunities of a simple kind abound: shelling, walks along the beach and playing in the surf, fishing from the shore and the ponds, a round of tennis, splashing in the pool, grillling the local seafood on the deck, riding bikes on the quiet streets of Barrier Dunes, and adjacent St. Joseph Beach State Park while observing abundant wildlife. What'll it be for you? I feel more relaxed just telling you about it! Better still, all this is yours without getting back in your car.
OK, so your curious about the rest of the area. Go explore. There's shopping, galleries, restaurants, and more stretching from Mexico Beach through Port St. Joe past Eastpoint and St. George Island to Appalachicola with it's historic homes to Carrabelle. All within an hour drive. Slightly further and you can take a guided a boat trip at Wakulla Springs and see an incredible amount and variety of birds and my favorite, the alligators.
I've had the good fortune to travel in over 30 countries and have been visiting Florida for as many years. However, when my wife brought me to Barrier Dunes on Cape San Blas, I knew we'd found something special. Six weeks later we closed on our townhome and now we have the pleasure of extending a welcome to you to come and share this piece of paradise. Hope to hear from you soon!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
I am an art teacher from the Chicago area. Our family loves the beach at Cape San Blas. Our place is beautifully decorated. We are an end unit, which let's more light in, and is more spacious. We have a new refrigerator, gas grill, and air conditioning unit purchased in the last year. We are located right near the pool and tennis courts. It is a 90 second walk over the boardwalks to the beach. We appreciate the fact that we can leave our chairs and umbrella up all week at the beach and not carry them back and forth Our deck has morning sun. We love to bike and hike in the St. Joe Peninsula State Park. We love to eat the great seafood.
Why the Owner Chose Barrier Dunes
We purchased our townhome in 2004 from an NFL football player. We love the uncrowded, sugary white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle. We enjoy the great fishing eating, shelling, biking, and relaxing at the gated community of Barrier Dunes
The Unique Benefits of this Townhome
We love the small town of Port St. Joe. We shuck our own oysters that we purchase by the pound. We enjoy the most beautiful sunsets over the water. We also enjoy the shopping and great restaurants in historic Appalaciocola, the 2nd oldest city in Florida, only 30 minutes away. Also, we never miss a dinner at the Indian Pass Raw Bar during our visits. We take part in the several local activities whenever we can.

We spent a week at this condo and we were very pleased. Barrier Dunes complex is very well kept, beautiful vegetation everywhere. And though this condo has no view of the water, the beach is just a short board walk away. The condo is nicely decorated, beautiful artwork, and very clean. The owner, Chris was always a phone call away and answered any questions we had. There is a bike path being developed on the Cape, and though it wasn't finished when we were there, we were able to bike quite a distance on the completed part of the path. We were also able to bike into the state park, which is right next door. We also spent a day exploring the nearby town of Appalachicola, which I highly recommend. The downtown area is full of little shops, great restaurants and beautiful historical homes. We are definitely planning a return to this quiet area. Even it the dead of summer, we weren't bothered by the usual summer crowds.
Owner response:Yes we love to share our vacation home during summer, but we also cater to snow birds and fall, winter and spring vacationers. We are now on Pay Pal for your convenience. Love to have you, and your family.

This was my husbands and my first trip to Cape San Blas. The townhome was the perfect place for our stay. The directions made it simple to find. The unit was immaculate and well decorated. The kitchen was well appointed. We cook a number of meals at home using the very fresh local seafood (shrimp, oysters and fish). The townhome easily accommodated 5 adults (2 couples). We really enjoyed the west facing deck for coffee in the morning and watching the sunsets at night. We will recommend this to our friends, and definitely will return.

This gated community is awesome. Chris was wonderful. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place that is clean and well appointed this is it. Your teens will have a blast while you can relax. You can watch the sunset, soak in the oversized tub or swim in the pools or ocean. My husband commented that it was the first vacation, that actually felt rested afterward. This property is very nice and located very close to the smaller pool. Oh yeah the local pizza and ice cream shop is within walking distance and very good.
