My husband and I, along with two other couples spent 3 nights here during Spring Break. Cabin was comfortable, not fancy, and had lots of room for all of us. The listing was fairly accurate with regard to rooms and beds. It was well stocked (paper products, dishes, cutlery) except towels (no extra for hot tub). The beds were comfortable and over all the property was clean and private. Hot tub was very hot, but we were able to adjust easily with owner's help. Owners were accessible easily by phone. Driveway was kept clear of snow, of which there was a lot during our stay. I would recommend this property to families and groups of adults. If you are looking for a comfortable cabin on a great mountain (we love Apex with its great terrain and absence of line ups), a little out of the main village, this is a great place to stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

I stayed here with my partner and two of our friends (we're in our late 20s), and it was wonderful. The cabin is stunning, and being in the hot tub was like something from a fairy tale. It's the perfect winter cabin and as noted in the description, very private. The fire (with lots of firewood provided) and the pool table were big perks. The view from the mezzanine is wonderful: a winter wonderland! Owner was very accommodating. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a group of 10 adults vacation at this chalet and we had a great time. The property was clean and well maintained, and included everything we needed to feel at home. We enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, entertainment system, and well-equipped kitchen. We had a few small questions for the owners over the course of our stay and we received prompt and helpful responses. For maximum privacy, this chalet is better suited to a smaller group or to families. The main floor has one 2-person bedroom and one 4-person bedroom (double bed + bunks) The second floor has another 2-person bedroom and a double bed in the open loft space above the living room. There is one bathroom on the main floor and one bathroom on the second floor, as an open-plan en suite of the master bedroom. This worked fine for our group of 10 close friends, but may not be ideal for all groups. Ski trails to Apex base area were just a short walk away and Nickel Plate nordic area was only a short (~10 minute) drive away. Excellent snowshoeing was also possible from the Chalet, or from the Nickel Plate area. There is a one kilometre outdoor skating loop nearby in Apex village (skate rentals available, but better to bring your own). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed staying at this chalet and we would stay here again. We recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable base camp from which to explore Apex and the area!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your review. Your comment about the snowshoeing is right on. You are also right about the skate rental, not sharp. Another advantage for families is that children can play around the front and side of the cabin while parents can keep an eye on them from the inside. It was great to have you stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again

My ladies hockey team stayed here at the end of January 2012 of the Apex Firefighter's Tourney. We had a great time. There was plenty of room for all 10 of us including our hockey gear. The pool table was a bonus along with the cozy feeling that the wood stove provided. Tucked into the trees, it has a great ski cabin feeling. The hot tub was large enough for most of us and it was a great spot to rejuvenate our sore legs from 3 games in 24 hours. As a skier myself, I would definitely stay here for a ski vacation with my family and friends or again with my hockey team.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Tara We try to provide a complete experience so that our guests do not find it necessary to go out for entertainment. You are right, coming home after a great day skiing or playing hockey to a cozy wood stove and a beverage is a great way to end the day Gerry

Why the Owner Chose Apex Mountain:
Barb and I chose Apex Mountain for it's family friendly atmosphere and relaxed lifestyle. We had a condo on a neighbouring mountain but found the crowding, especially lift lineups, and the packed in nightlife was not our style. At Apex lift lineups are seldom more than 2 minutes and if you want to go out for dinner you don't need a reservation. We picked our chalet because it is very private, set back from the road on a 1/2 acre lot with parking for up to 6 vehicles.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
We designed the chalet so that our guests do not feel the need to go out in order to entertain themselves. Satellite TV, movies, pool table and 9 person hot tub keeps them busy after a hard day skiing. Wake up to the smell of the pine trees and the crack of the fresh mountain air
