Why the Owner Chose Coupeville

We chose Coupeville for its charm and seaside feel. My husband grew up in coastal CT and the town itself really reflects this past. To feel so far away, yet only an hour and half from downtwon Seattle was also a big draw for us. We love Ebey's Landing and think Deception Pass is one of the prettiest places we have ever seen.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Our home is 2 blocks from historic downtown Coupeville, allowing us convenience, yet the home itself is so quaint and hsitoric we feel miles from anywhere, like we have stepped back in time. The access to the boat ramp and public park across the street have been very helpful. We love taking our coffee and dog early in the morning down to the waterfront and strolling on the beach.

Owner's Map of Coupeville

My famliy and I are originally from Florida and are naturally drawn to the water and boating. But the spectacular beauty of WA, has us hooked. Coupeville and our home speaks to these two very different settings-to be able to have water views and go boating under the backdrop of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains is truly stunning. We love all the outdoor activities Whidbey Island has to offer, but even more the family memories we have made just relaxing in our home.

Found the house to be clean, comfortable, and very charming. We picked it for location so we could walk to the Front Street shops and restaurants with our toddler. The house was very spacious for our small family, and the owners made us feel welcome both in our conversations and through the preparation of the house for guests. It is an old, historic house, but is well-maintained and feels warm and fresh. A great place to relax during our short Whidbey vacation.

We had a wonderful weekend In the Hesselgrave House. It was very comfortable, and has a great kitchen for preparing meals as a group. The view from the sitting room is great, and it was nice to be able to relax and enjoy the island from that spot. The beds are very comfortable, and it is so peaceful. You are sure to get some well deserved rest and relaxation in this charming and cozy home.

Beautiful House in a Great Location

Date of Stay: 12/31/11 Review Submitted: 01/08/12

Eight of us (four couples, plus one dog) had a fantastic New Years' weekend at this lovely house in Coupeville. The house is right in the heart of the cute town of Coupeville, just a block from the waterfront trail and a few blocks from the shops and restaurants downtown. The house is larger than it looks in the pictures, and was surprisingly comfortable even for our large group. It's very nicely decorated, with a subtle, sophisticated, non-kitschy beach-y ambiance. There's apparently been quite a bit of repainting, refurnishing etc. since the pictures on this website were taken -- we were already looking forward to our stay based on the pictures but were nicely surprised by the improvements. There are two bedrooms upstairs -- one with a full-size bed and a twin-sized bed and the other with one queen size bed -- and one bedroom downstairs. All of the beds were very comfortable. The owner left an air mattress and extra bedding for our fourth couple, which we set up in the living room after moving the coffee table. Worked great. As we are all avid cooks and enjoy a good meal, we appreciated the well-appointed kitchen. It was large enough for several cooks, the appliances were quality, and the cabinets were stocked with enough dishes/glassware for all eight of us as well as cookware and serving dishes. Dining room is large with a big table; there is a smaller second table in the kitchen breakfast nook. The living room is also spacious, with two couches and a big wing-back chair and ottoman. The owners were pleasant and helpful via phone and text and very kindly provided sparkling wine and snacks as well as a folder of information on Coupeville. We had a great time and will definitely be back -- we are already planning our next stay!
