3 Bed, 4 Bath, Bar Harbor Shorepath Estate - Walk to Restaurants, Shops, Movies!
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
MOST ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE FROM YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME, BAR HARBOR HAS OVER 100 RESTAURANTS, SHOPPING, MUSEUMS, THE TOWN PIER ACTIVITIES, THE VILLAGE GREEN, WITH FREE CONCERTS NEARLY EVERY EVENING, THE FREE ISLAND SHUTTLE BUS JUST BLOCKS AWAY, AND OF COURSE, ACADIA NATIONAL PARK.....WITH A FIVE MINUTE DRIVE TO THE ENTRANCE.
THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS LOVELY HOME IS THE SHORT WALKING DISTANCE TO NEARLY EVERYTHING IN DOWNTOWN BAR HARBOR, especially my favorite restaurant, 'CAFE THIS WAY' for breakfast.
THIS LARGE SHOREPATH ESTATE begins at the end of a quiet dead-end street, and flows across nearly two acres of exquisite gardens to the edge of the ocean. There is approximately four thousand square feet of living space.
THE KITCHEN HAS A FIREPLACE, with a comfy sofa, large TV, six bar seats, table for six, & looks out to the ocean with an enormous deck facing the water for outdoor entertainment. A separate service kitchen/separate wet bar sit in-between the massive living room, and the kitchen.
THE HUGE MASTER SUITE FACES THE OCEAN, with French doors leading to its own private deck for that morning cup. All three bedrooms have king-size beds, sofas, desks, TV's, phones and private baths. Down by the shore, there are several Adirondack type chairs, tables and ottomans, a great place for a relaxing lunch, or that evening glass of wine.
THE ORIGINAL BAR HARBOR SHOREPATH ESTATE!
BUILT IN 1885, 'DEVILSTONE' IS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL ESTATES ON THE FAMOUSE BAR HARBOR SHOREPATH. Everything in the downtown district is within a short walking distance, either via a beautiful and quiet neighborhood side street, or via the famous Bar Harbor Shorepath. This is your home away from home, a short walk from the hustle and bustle that's Bar Harbor during the summer season.
WHILE OTHER CIRCLE TOWN LOOKING FOR THAT ELUSIVE PARKING SPOT, you have easy access to everything Bar Harbor has to offer, including the Village Green where every night is a summer festival, and the concerts are free. Don't feel like making breakfast? Delicious blueberry pancakes await you at my favorite restaurant, 'Cafe This Way,' where regulars return for creative breakfasts, and incredible dinners. Then stroll to the museum next door, galleries, gift and bookshops around town; something for every taste and budget.
WELL KNOWN SHOREPATH GARDENS!
THE CREATIVE GARDENS are extensive on this Shorepath property, and well known on the island. There are nearly two acres, and plenty of quiet places to read, relax, or enjoy the view. There are walking paths all over the property, and where the lawn meets the ocean, there is a walking path to town known as 'The Bar Harbor Shorepath.' Click on 'View our Website' at the bottom of this page to view our separate listing for the Carriage/ Guesthouse. PLEASE INQUIRE VIA E-MAIL ONLY. I will send more information, photos, availability, etc.
SHORT WALK TO DOWNTOWN BAR HARBOR CAFES, MOVIES, SHOPPING, SPECIALITY WINES, AND SEVERAL GREAT COFFEE HOUSES!
Bar Harbor offers numerous unique bars and restaurants (most very casual), night clubs, hysterical improv theater, two movie houses, new YMCA with a great gym, nearby athletic facilities, a nationally renowned public golf course (Kebo and two others on the island), immediate proximity to Acadia National Park's salt and fresh water beaches, convenient connections to airports in Bangor and Trenton, a three hour ferry service to Canada, deep sea fishing, sailing, antiquing, and, of course the nearby Ellsworth L.L. Bean outlet.
A short walk down the Bar Harbor Shorepath to the town pier, go for a scenic cruise around the island, take the famous Bar Harbor Whale Watch boat, or order an incredible picnic lunch to go, swim or kayak in pristine lakes, brave the ocean, hike the trails, or bike the carriage roads in nearby Acadia National Park, with bike and kayak rentals nearby. To top it off hop aboard a four mast schooner for an evening wine cruise on THE MARGARET TODD.
THEATERS AND RESTAURANTS!
Bar Harbor is known for it's variety of great restaurants. With over 100 restaurants, you will certainly find something you like. Lobster, of course, is a favorite, however Thai, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and many continental restaurants are all withing a few blocks of each other..........all withing walking distance of the Devilstone Estate. We have a beautiful Deco theater called The Criterion, and there is also ' Reel Pizza' with two screens, (behind the Village Green) showing first run movies, and art and foreign films. The films change often for visitors.
CLEANING FEES EXPLAINED! THERE ARE NO UP FRONT, OR SET CLEANING FEES! THE FEE, IF ANY, IS UP TO YOU.
The cleaning/damage deposit is $1,500.00, and completely, and quickly refundable if the Devilstone Main House is left in the same condition as you found it upon arrival.
Unlike many other weekly rentals, we don't charge any up front, or set cleaning fees. The fee, IF ANY, depends on how much cleaning we have to do once you leave.
After you leave, we launder all sheets, and towels, make the beds, clean the bathrooms, and the rest is up to you for 100% refund. Our cleaning fee policy is ideal for those who leave the Main House as they found it.
Fortunately over 95% of our return guests leave the 'Devilstone' Main House clean and tidy, which is why we stopped charging a fixed cleaning fee.
WELCOME TO BAR HARBOR! PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS!
Kind regards,
John

Thank you for creating such a comfortable vacation for all of us. Your home fit all of our needs, with those huge bedrooms, baths, endless TV's and DVD's, and the gardens, and seating by the ocean were spectacular. Our kids loved the tidepools, and the short walk to town, and my wife never stopped talking about the kitchen and easy access to the huge oceanfront deck. We lived out there for most of our stay. We will definitely be back. A month was not enough! Thank you again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1980
About the owner: My name is John, and I'm an artist.......a painter. I've lived in Bar Harbor for 32 years. Mount Desert Island is a wonderful place to live. With Acadia National Park 5 minutes away, it has it all.
Why the Owner Chose Bar Harbor:
I chose this house in 1980 because of it's proximity to town. I can walk to everything, while others are circling town looking for that elusive parking spot. Walking downtown for the free evening concerts on the Village Green is one of my favorite things to do.
Another great thing about Bar Harbor are the many coffee houses. 'Trail Head' has some of the best coffee in the world.
My favorite spot for breakfast is 'CAFE THIS WAY!' You'll love the unique, creative choices.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
I've designed oceanfront seating for six, with Adirondack type chairs, tables and ottomans, very close to the ocean, and it's become my favorite spot on the property. It's wonderful for that morning cup, or that evening glass of wine.
