I had a really nice time in Negril. Dragonfly Inn was a very comfortable and cozy home. It was a little difficult to find initially but we made it. I would definitely stay there again if/when i visit Negril.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and we welcome you back anytime! Without addresses and street names it can make it a challenge to get around! The locals prefer to wind through the streets on the back side but the easiest most direct route is up from the Texaco station just past the police station, which they prefer to avoid :)

From the first contact with the owner months before our stay to the caretaker calling us on our way to the airport to make sure all was good, this was a great experience. The home is clean and very attractive. The neighborhood is a bit daunting at first sight, but quiet and peaceful. MUCH quieter than the beach environment! The house is surprisingly well-appointed. Loads of closet space and nice dressers and furnishings. Stacks of nice towels and linens, lots of kitchen appliances, all the high-quality pots and pans and dishes you could ever want! Cooking in the kitchen is pleasant and convenient . . . and preparing fresh local food saves big $$ and really adds to the enjoyment of Negril. The owner was very generous with her time and attention in helping us prepare for our first trip to Jamaica. There is no straight, "as the crow flies" route to the beach, but even strolling leisurely and passing through the round-a-bout, the walk to the "downtown" end of seven-mile beach took only 30-40 minutes. We are eagerly anticipating our next stay at Dragonfly Inn!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Dragonfly. It was a pleasure helping you plan your trip. I was especially touched when you wrote "You know you've found the right vacation dwelling when you are excited to leave the beach and return for a great, relaxing evening "at home!" You are welcome home any time!

Traveling on my own the first time, I was a bit anxious, but from the moment I arrived I felt safe and was welcomed as part of the family. The house was lovely and well decorated with all the conveniences. Having a get away from the tourist scene was very peaceful and it felt like being at home. Being in a Jamaican neighborhood and visiting with the locals was the highlight of my trip. I can't wait to share this hidden treasure with my friend when I return this spring!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: My neighbors and family really enjoyed your company as well! You were such a delight to work with and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We will look forward to your return.

We stayed at this location for 4 days during ATI. The experience was horrible, there is no AC, the top portion of the villa with no AC is like being burnt alive. We could not utilize the upstairs until night time when it got a little cooler. After the 1st day, the water was finished. We had to use bottle water to bathe and cook. The owner blamed 4 people for using about 600 gallons of water within 1 day. Interesting? I asked for a half refund back and was denied. This property is located up a hill and around the bend. Bad experience and would never return or wish for anyone to go through what we did.Owner response: I regret that this guest was so unsatisfied. The issues she points out have all been addressed and all guests since have been delighted with our place.

A very comfortable new home nestled up the hill. Everyone we met to and from the Dragonfly was hospitable. Lifelong acquaintances were created. Interactions with the owner were pleasant and professional. Location is accessible to everything, yet far enough away for privacy. Safe and Secure premises. Watch out for the mosquitos at night. We personally loved the local cats and dog. Beautiful NEGRIL.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

If you are searching for a place to relax with all the comforts of home then Dragonfly is the place for you! The home is new, very clean and well-maintained, and beautifully furnished with a decorator's touch for detail and much thoughtfulness for the comfort of guests (I loved the huge assortment of movies)! If you are like us, and seek to vacation and take in the local culture as well as the tourist areas, then you will love this home. The owners are super helpful and provide great tips for getting the most out of your stay in Negril. We highly recommend it!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I am so glad you enjoyed your first trip to Jamaica! It was a pleasure helping you plan. Next time you'll have to stay longer!

About: As a single woman I moved to Jamaica to experience a different culture. I met and married a wonderful Jamaican man. We love to spend time in Negril so we decided to build a place away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. Our tropical retreat is a reflection of his master craftsman skills and my decorating talents. It's our perfect place to relax and recharge. Every summer it's the gathering spot for our Jamaican family reunion. We plan to retire there.
Why Negril:
We love the beach in Negril which is second to none but wanted privacy and tranquil evenings so we decided to build. Now we have the best of both worlds! We love our peaceful country setting and are just minutes from the beach.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It's only a 5 minute drive to the beach, town or the West End. We provide a cell phone and contact information for a safe and reliable drivers. Staying in a Jamaican neighborhood allows you the opportunity experience the real culture and escape the noise of the beach. This is a third world country in a hurricane zone so one should expect intermittent issues with power and water beyond our control.
