Welcome to Haywood Farm House, an 1880s home recently lovingly restored 1800 square foot home nestled on three quiet wood filled acres. After you exit off the 87 Thruway (just 90 minutes from NYC!), you’ll drive 7 minutes through apple orchards and horse farms before arriving at our front door. The flagstone steps will lead you to one of the best features of the house: the long classic front porch complete with rocking chairs which makes the perfect setting for a glass of lemonade or morning coffee while you admire the views. Step into the house and back in time onto the original wood plank floors throughout recently restored to their former glory and the original ceiling beams featured on the ground floor. The owners selected a neutral color palette throughout the home so that the rustic features of the house and the natural beauty of the surrounding land would stand out. In most rooms you will find fresh cut flowers and greenery selected for your arrival! The large eat in kitchen with original farmhouse ceiling beams, farmhouse sink, soapstone countertops and custom built reclaimed pine wood kitchen island (with vintage 1930s factory stools) will inspire you to bake a pie with some local fruit. The kitchen also features a gallery of original photographs of the home and property from the 1920s when it was a working farm. Just off the kitchen is the sunroom dining gallery with its beautiful views and skylights. You’ll want to dine with friends at the custom made 10 foot oak dining table locally crafted from reclaimed wood. The table seats 8 in oversized Windsor chairs. The dining area also features a separate sitting area with club chairs. The gracious living room has a beautiful fireplace and oversized flanking couches around a custom barn door coffee table. You will also find a cozy wingback reading chair nook and a 42 inch flat screen television. There is strong wireless internet throughout the home. Just off the living room is the master bedroom with a large farmhouse bed, separate sitting area, private bathroom and views of the swimming pool. (NEW FOR 2015: RENOVATED BATHROOM WITH VINTAGE STYLE PEDESTAL TUB AND DOUBLE VESSEL SINK VANITY!) Upstairs is a romantic iron bed guest room with cathedral ceilings and a skylight. The guest room features beautiful turn of the century hand stitched crewel textiles and a vintage chaise lounge. Across the hall is the “Farm Fifties” den (and third bedroom) with a skylight, mid century furnishings and atomic draperies from the 1950s. There's a collection of vintage board games, a 32 inch flat screen television, a stainless mini fridge and a Keurig coffee maker and complimentary K cups. A newly renovated bathroom sits between the upstairs bedrooms. You will find a vintage style pedestal sink, a soaker tub and a vintage bullet light medicine cabinet. Downstairs is a full washer and dryer in the mud room. The grounds feature lush greenery, trees and flowers where bird and deer sightings are in full force. Just off of the dining room/sun room is a two tier wooden deck with a Frontgate dining table seating 8 with a 9 foot market umbrella. The upper deck tier has vintage wicker seating area and a Weber charcoal grill with chimney and barbecue tools. The 18 x 34 in ground swimming pool features four luxurious loungers with individual striped market umbrellas and a seating area with a three seater sofa and flanking club chairs and coffee table under a 9 foot market umbrella. There are also beach balls, pool floats and beach towels for your use. Under the big maples trees, you can sit in the shade in a pair of handmade Adirondack chairs constructed from original wood of the house reclaimed during renovations. You will find restaurants, grocery stores and other services 7 minutes away in New Paltz and 5 minutes away in Rosendale. The location of the property makes it ideal for a weeklong family vacation with an easy commute for any family members working in NYC as a Trailsways bus stop is close by (and the bus makes the trip in 90 minutes with no stops!).

For nature lovers, the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail offers more than 12 miles of linear park connecting Gardiner and Rosendale and the to the Walkway Over the Hudson, the world's tallest and longest pedestrian walkway, connecting the Hudson Valley Rail Trail on the west side of the Hudson to the Dutchess County Rail Trail on the east side.
The beautiful Shawangunk Ridge offers a host of trail options for hikers and bicyclists with some of the best views in the Hudson Valley. Bonticou Crag in the Mohonk Preserve, Skytop on the grounds of the world-renowned, 140-year-old Mohonk Mountain House resort, Awosting Falls in the Minnewaska State Park Preserve and the Ice Caves in Sam’s Point Preserve are just a taste of what the Shawangunk Ridge has to offer. For rock climbers, ‘The Gunks’ are the single busiest climbing destination in North America.
New Paltz and the surrounding region is a terrific jumping off point for the Catskills as well! In winter, ski enthusiasts can explore Hunter Mountain, Belleayre Mountain and Windham.
And just over the Hudson River north of Poughkeepsie you can visit Franklin D. Roosevelt's Springwood estate and Presidential Library, Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-kill Cottage and the Vanderbilt mansion, all in Hyde Park. Just further north of Hyde Park is the elegant village of Rhinebeck. And just south of Hyde Park is Samuel Morses's beautiful Locust Grove estate in Poughkeepsie.
