The address for the apartement at 16 rue de la Plaine is a little > misleading, because it is hardly in the 20e arrondissement, and > in fact > closer to Place de la Nation and the 12e (as a quick look at > Google maps will convinve you). It is a pleasant and spacious one bedroom apartment with a study, and an open plan living/dining and kitchen space. It is nicely equipped and furnished, and Sylvia has left a selection of books and music for use by tenants. We were very comfortable, and could easily have stayed for a very long time! We found the location most convenient. A very good supermarket called Monoprix is very close by, also a bakery from which you can obtain fresh baguettes every morning. It is near the metro station called Nation, and on line 1, which the best line running through the city. There is quality shopping, bistros, department stores and other services in the immediate area. In Paris there is a metro system which is very efficient and easy to use (we are not used to public transport, as we go everywhere by car in Canberra). The apartment is in a respectable and well maintained complex. During our stay we heard no noise or disturbance of any kind.

This apartment is a gem
This apartment is a gem
My husband and I enjoyed our stay (about 3 weeks in December, 2012-January 2013) in Sylvia’s apartment. This apartment is a gem, just the kind of rental one comes to VRBO to find. It is located on a quiet side street in a residential neighborhood, well away from the tourist bustle, but with ready access to left and right bank destinations via metro lines 1 , 2, 6, 9, as well as the fast RER A line and several bus routes passing thru Nation. It is surrounded by life's necessities. Within 3-4 blocks, we found 4 good bakeries, a flower shop, banks, 10 cafes, Monoprix (next door), a chocolatier, a new laundromat, and, perhaps best of all, a large biweekly outdoor food market, which was bustling even in deepest winter. The apartment is a sixth-floor 1 bed room spacious unit, quiet and clean, all is in good order. With a helpful couple on-site as building managers, the only "complaint" we could make is the constant tug-of-war between (1) the attractions of the study room with flawless internet access, (2) the neighborhood itself, and (3) the pull of the rest of the city only a few metro stops away. All in all, you cannot go wrong with Sylvia!!
