What a great house! Everything was as clean and as organized as we keep our own home. Our trip consisted of 2 families (total of 6 children ages 5 to 12). The accommodations were outstanding. I am always skeptical of actual location and accessibility when reading something online. This house is located in an ideal location. A very short walk from a great park and beach and right in the heart of incline village. Mornings at the local shop, “IV Coffee Lab” was great place to start each day, although the house has everything you need. The kitchen was just like home. The electronics equipment was great and easy to use. The back yard is a child's dream! The kids ran and played constantly.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We are longtime Tahoe vacation renters, and I think we've finally found our perfect spot. Sam was very easy to deal with, and the home: just wow! It's really large, with room for everyone (we vacation with two other families and need lots of space), and in a great location where you'd expect to pay more. The beds are very comfortable, and the backyard was amazing in winter, with a tiny hill the kids used for mini-sledding. While the house is an estate-type home, it has the feel of a comfortable family house - you can relax and enjoy yourselves because you feel like you're home. Extra points to the massive master bedroom. I enjoyed my interactions with the owner, and found him responsive and reasonable. The house does show some signs of wear from vacation travelers, but the owner will address any issues right away, and we found that only made it more comfortable. I would happily return to this house again, and it's by far the best one we've found in 6 years of Tahoe vacations.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

An Extremely Unpleasant Experience

This is an overall attractive home, with some things not attended to and in poor repair. It is much as described, with the following serious exceptions: * The garage was inaccessible due to overflowing garbage left by previous tenants. I counted 8 cans and 13 bags/boxes of garbage, which I carried to the curb at the owner's request. * Every entrance was icy and not even a snow shovel was provided... of some concern because we had an elderly family member at our reunion * The furnace and hot water heater which served the entire house failed, and the owner admits this has happened before with some regularity. The house therefore was very cold until we managed to restart it. * There was no book of instructions or helpful information for renters * Our group waited 2 1/2 hours beyond the arranged hour of availability while the house cleaners finished * The dishwasher failed and was full of dirty dishes on our arrival. It later flooded. The cabinets (one of which had a gaping, broken door, were likewise stocked with some dirty dishes. * The fireplace had no handle on the door, and only a few construction scraps with nails were provided instead of firewood for our mid-winter visit. With a failed furnace, this was crucial We are not the kind to complain, and so did not immediately call to register these inadequacies with the (initially helpful) owner. This led to later heated accusations by the owner of having damaged these items ourselves. Serious problems arose because this owner seems to have no system of checks in place to determine any damages caused by previous tenants. The owner delayed more than the 30 days that Nevada law allows in returning a partial deposit, which we accepted so that we would no longer have to deal with this individual. We would strongly caution renters of this otherwise attractive home to IMMEDIATELY document any concerns or reports of damages. As fairly frequent renters of vacation homes for our family reunions, I can state that we have never had a worse renting experience.Owner response: I find this review strange because the guest stated in her email upon departure, "Again, sorry to leave this on a bad note... I was hoping to return at some time and rent your home again in the future." First and foremost, the house is in great condition and is maintained regularly by a caretaker. If there are ANY issues at check in or during your stay, please call me. To address some of the "complaints": The rental instructions state the renting group is required to take out the trash on Tuesday morning. There are 2 snow shovels at the house. It does snow in Tahoe in the winter. We employ a snow removal company to remove the snow. The boiler, upon excessive use, will shut off to protect it from overheating. Clear instructions are provided on how to reset the boiler. The group did call. I immediately answered and repeated the reset instructions. No complaint was ever made about the temperature of the house until now. I alerted the group the cleaners may still be at the house past check in time, to which Jennifer responded, “There's no problem if the cleaners are still there after 3, Sam. If that's the case we can be flexible.” We do not state anywhere that we provide firewood however, most guests have simply brought their own or bought firewood at the supermarket in town. The full deposit would have been refunded promptly had the issues below not occurred. My family arrived to my house the day the "guests" left. My house was trashed. They brought FOUR dogs with them, which were not authorized in the rental agreement. There was dog hair and filth everywhere. The leather couches were scratched beyond repair. One wall was scratched through the paint and into the drywall. A kitchen cabinet was missing, the dishwasher was pulled a full 8 inches out of its housing and the latch on the dishwasher was broken. After admitting to the extra dogs, extra house guests and damaging the dishwasher and upon my attempt to deduct 50 dollars in extra cleaning for the dogs and 190 for the repair of the dishwasher, the entire group began to deluge me with nasty emails and then resorted to calling me at dinner time to harass me even further. The majority of our guests have treated our house as they would their own I am well aware things break when renting a house; but when guests do not take care of the property they are renting, they need to be responsible for the they damage caused. Our house is NOT A PARTY HOUSE, it is a family house.

We stayed at this amazing home with a couple other families this winter, and it was absolutely perfect. We walked in feeling incredibly comfortable, with a large kitchen, plenty of space, cozy amenities, a great work loft with easy WiFi (yeah - had to do some of that), along with a super back yard where the kids played in the snow and tree house. Diamond Peak was just a few minutes away, which made the house even more ideal, since it's such a great ski spot for the beginner and intermediate kids (though does have a few fun black diamonds for the parents during kid-breaks). Sam was outstanding, fast and super accommodating. On the phone when we arrived, he walked us through a couple things we had questions about. And after our stay, he took the time to find my pricey camera battery and charger and shipped it to me right away, at no charge. Super guy, great to work with. Thanks Sam, we plan to visit again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We decided to have a destination wedding in Lake Tahoe and thought it would be so much more fun to rent a home and spend multiple days with our loved ones before and after our big day rather than just our hectic wedding DAY. Boy, are we glad we did!! This house was absolutely amazing!! We took turns cooking and cleaning in the spacious kitchen, the location could not be better for the price (close to the lake for afternoon walks!) and the amenities were outstanding. It truly felt like home, the owner and his wife take great care of the house and it has all the amenities one would want in a home away from home! We loved it and our "wedding weekend" was a huge success in large part due to our accomodations. We even got to bring our little four-legged monster who had a blast running in the snowy yard! Our family is STILL talking about what a wonderful time they had with us:-) Thanks for a perfect weekend!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent a great family Christmas vacation tucked away in this cozy home. We were a group of 8 adults and 10 kids ranging in age from 6yrs to 19yrs, and the house had plenty of space for all of us to spread out. The location was perfect, being walking distance to the lake, as well as the Hyatt, and a few minutes by car to all other amenities that a family of 18 might need. Despite a serious lack of snow, we were a five minute drive from Diamond Peak Ski Resort, where we all had an awesome time skiing on great man-made snow; a great place for a huge family with lots of beginners! Sam was very easy to work with, prompt with replies to questions, etc., and made sure we had everything we needed once we were there. We are already planning our trip for next year. Thanks Sam!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I cannot express how amazing this house is. My family went up for a wedding and we ended having everyone over to the house the next day and they were all as impressed with this house as we were. It was incredibly beautiful and an easy walk to the Hyatt or the beach. The owner made everything so easy and convenient and the house was in such a beautiful area that we would have expected to pay WAY more. (Don't tell the owner!) We will absolutely stay here again and everyone in my family has been pulling out their planners and trying to get some dates. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We remodeled this house for our family of six (which includes two year old triplets!) in 2009 and 2010. We built the house not only for our family but also to entertain our friends and family.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Lakeview:
Our family lived in Incline for five years and found it to be extremely beautiful, quiet and convenient to the airport in Reno. The skiing is amazing too!
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
There is a great family friendly ski resort a few minutes away from this home (Diamond Peak) as well as many world class ski resorts within a short drive. There are also two amazing golf courses in town. The home is walking distance to both of Incline's beautiful beaches, Incline Recreation Center, The Hyatt and several good restaurants.
