The PERFECT cabin!
The PERFECT cabin!

Where to start about this cabin?! I really felt as if it was the best of everything. It was close to everything but also secluded and private! The drive up to the cabin is beautiful. The owner gives ACCURATE, detailed directions and we never got lost. The driveway is VERY steep, but we were in a 4cyl Honda Accord and we made it to the top. ;) All of the things we wanted to do (Cade's Cove, Trillium Gap trail, outlets, and Gatlinburg) were very easy to get to from the cabin. It was no big deal to go back to the cabin to change and go back out, either. The cabin itself is very well maintained. We were a party of 4 (3 adults and 1 toddler) and the cabin was a great layout for us to all do our own thing or hang out together. The stairs are a little scary when you don't want your toddler going up/down, I would recommend bringing a baby gate if traveling with small ones. The hot tub was hot and clean, porch furniture was comfy, water pressure in the bathrooms was great, plenty of cooking space in the kitchen, and we slept like babies in the beds--very comfy! For those of us who need to stay connected, the wifi signal was great and a definite selling point for us. We didn't have great cell reception otherwise so having the house phone was good when we needed to call each other. As city dwellers I also really appreciated (and used) the alarm system. Felt super safe the whole time. My only complaint is we were only there 3 nights. Would love to go back and stay longer next time! Why stay in a hotel when you can have a vacation home as great as this for the same price??Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to review our cabin. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Bears Hideaway. This cabin is a very special place to us and we are glad you got to experience it. Come again soon.

The cabin was beautiful, clean and tucked away. We really enjoyed the hot tub overlooking the woods, the fabulous gas grill and even the Wii! The Smokey Mountain Parkway was only a short drive away -- the cabin is essentially tucked between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, away from the masses. The driveway is steep as advertised, but we had no problem in my Corolla for those who are wondering. I brought my dog, who loved to look out over the second floor balcony though there wasn't room near the cabin for him to run around, just FYI. We had a fabulous time and will absolutely be back!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to review Bears Hideaway. We are glad that all of your family members got to enjoy the peacefulness and convenience that this cabin offers. We hope that you will come again soon for another visit.

Loved our stay in this great cabin! We had four young adults with us and did a mix of hiking and exploring Gatlinburg. The location was perfect for both. The cabin had plenty of room for all of us to spread out, but was comfortable enough for all of us to be together as well. We found the cabin clean and well maintained. We even liked the steepness of the drive, it added to the adventure!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

We had a great time at Bears Hideaway! Yes, the driveway is steep but well worth the drive! Very Private! VERY VERY CLEAN! Since they allow pets we were thinking that it might have pet odor but it didn't. I am truly amazed at how clean this cabin was. No pet hair and no pet odors! Very nice! We will be renting from this cabin owner again in the near future! Hopefully at this property!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This cabin was excellent! The location is perfect it sits back away in the mountains away from hustle and bustle but yet only 10minutes away from all the great attractions. The cabin was very clean, and had everything you need except food for a extended stay, and made us feel right at home. The only flaw was the paved steep driveway but it does level off at the top to park one vehicle. Without a doubt our next stay will be here. Thanks to the owner and staff for everything!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We stayed 10/06-10/09, sorry so late for the review. I wanted to do it while still in the cabin but felt it was too soon. We really enjoyed this cabin. It was cozy nice furnishings, definitely loved the deck. We really felt at home. My husband and i enjoyed our jacuzzi bath every night and we spent out last night playing pool air hockey and ping pong. This was an anniversary for us and our friends (another married couple) were there as well. I would definitely stay at this cabin again and would recommend others to do so as well.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Bears hideaway was the cabin we selected for our 21st wedding anniversary get away.We found this cabin with no problem, the directions were accurate. The cabin itself is a beautiful cabin I would like to say however it is more geared for the family, not a romantic decor based atmosphere which was okay for us. The photo's were true to there appearance. and was very private. The owner Randall was very accommodating and the rate is absolutely outstanding for this type of rental. We were the 3rd occupants and found several items from the previous occupants, so cleaning could have been better. Also some loose fixtures and a lamp in need of repair on arrival. The Jacuzzi is not a 2 person, unless you are both less than 100lbs that was a little disappointing we made up for it in the hot tub. BTW Bleach on the garbage doesn't work we had a bear get into it twice. Tropical depression Lee was over the whole time we were there and rained 4 of the 5 days we stayed. We were able to drive Cades Cove and saw Deer and 2 bears walk up a hillside on Friday before we left and up to the Appellation Trail as well it was gorgeous! We had a great time! And it was worth every penny. Considering bringing the whole family next time. And possibly moving to the area when I retire and starting a cabin cleaning business for that rate I know I could do a better job. Don't get me wrong, overall it was clean I just didn't feel Randall was getting his money's worth from the company that does it. I would definitely recommend this cabin to my friends and those that say they're going to the area.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+.

I was looking for a nice clean cabin where I could take my family and dog for a 2 night stay in the Smokies- I found exactly what I was looking for and more in the Bears Hideway cabin- This cabin was way more room than we needed but it was beautiful- My mom kept saying it must be brand new ...but I just think it was kept up- The decor to the carpentry ..every detail was paid attention to- My dog after just a few hours acted as if he lived there his whole life- it was just so comfortable- I loved having my morning coffee on the deck off the living room- overlooking the most scenic mountain range- Thanks for a great stayRecommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: I am a native of East Tennessee and am planning on retiring to the area in a few years.
Why the Owner Chose Sky Harbor:
This cabin is in a GREAT, private location. It sits at the end of its own road on the top of its own little mountain in its own little valley. Your away from everything but still only 15 minutes or less from everything the area has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
If your looking for a very peaceful setting this cabin is hard to beat. You can sit on either of the two porches and listen to the sounds of nature. Look up at the night sky and it seems as if you can reach up and touch the stars. A small stream below offers a hint of the trickling sound of a babbling brook. While private, you can be to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge in a matter of minutes. Nature lovers will LOVE this location.
