In the winter, the wonderful stand alone Swedish fireplace provides a cozy ambiance to stretch out and unwind after a day on the slopes or at the local vineyards. In the summer, a wrap- around porch and balcony provide plenty of outside space to enjoy the mountain air. Close to hiking, golf, skiing and swimming. A true four season resort just 1.5 hours from the beltway in DC.
There are three levels containing three bedrooms and 2.5 baths, with sleeping for 8-10 persons. On the main floor, there are two bedrooms. One has two full beds, the other bedroom has one bunk bed and one full size bed. Upstairs, there is the master bedroom complete with a queen size bed, and on the lowest level, there is a gameroom/ tv area with a queen sofa bed. The chalet comes with Wi-Fi, DirecTV, Hulu, Netflix, an assortment of movies, books, and toys. It is the perfect weekend retreat or holiday vacation spot! Well-behaved dogs welcome!

This is a very nice property in Bryce Resort with a great location. Pretty place with 3 bedrooms , main level great room with kitchen, dining area and living area around a free standing center fire place. We had a great time..... 4 adults and 1 child and enjoyed the place very much. Great deck area the entire back side of house looking down toward the sky area ( not visible this time of year). The house is at the top of the mountain with National forest on the west side so good view without any other houses looking that direction. Picnic table on a little mound would be nice spot to each out in warmer weather. The 3 bedrooms are very good size. We were looking at property to maybe buy and few had bedrooms as large as this place. You have everything you need here. We brought food for Friday night to Sunday lunch and never left except to check out the area in general. ( there does not seem to be much in the way of resturants in Bryce ). We had no problem with the Swedish fireplace... open a window slightly and you will have a good drafting fire. Lower level has TV area and pool table which was nicely done but we didn't use much.

Super cozy - plan to return!
Super cozy - plan to return!
We stayed at this house for a long weekend in August and were super impressed! Several things stood out to us. First, there is so much space for a cabin the the mountains. With three bedrooms and a pull-out couch in the basement, we were comfortable with 7 adults and 2 children. Second, it is such a beautifully decorated space. I understand the owner is an artist and hangs some of her work there. Third, it is very well stocked with all sorts of things you might need in the kitchen. You can easily cook and bake there. And finally, it is very clean. So many of these rental houses are really not that clean, so I probably appreciated that the most. The fire place is also really neat and fun to hang out around, and I love that you feel like you are IN the trees when you sit on the back porch! Additionally, the house is located in an amazing area. There is so much to do around there - we visited an organic chicken farm which was basically a zoo of chickens from around the world! We also really enjoyed swimming in the lake, hiking the trail around the lake, visiting local vineyards, and picking berries! It was a fantastic weekend - we definitely plan to go back!

We spent a last minute weekend in Bryce to visit with family. The owner was responsive and easy to communicate with. The house has plenty of room and the game room downstairs kept the kids entertained while the rest of the family visited. Our family owns 3 townhomes at Bryce and they all loved visiting this chalet when we hosted dinner during our stay. The family has been vacationing yearly at Bryce for over 6 decades and stayed in many homes. They all gave this one two thumbs up!

We most appreciated the responsiveness of the hosts in scheduling a last minute holiday booking. The chalet is exactly as described. It was very cozy but had plenty of room for two couples. We enjoyed the gas grill and the full kitchen. Bryce Resort is a nice, balanced environment with manicured golf greens and rustic surroundings (at least to us city-dwellers!). We played a little too much ping pong, hung out at Lake Laura, traipsed around the country roads sampling great wine, and really chilled out in the valley air, away from the sweltering heat of the city. Great stay!

We had 4 adults and 6 children. The house had plenty of space and the ping pong table was a big hit. The nearby lake was a lot of fun - for swimming and hiking. We enjoyed our time together in this comfortable, beautiful and relaxing setting. Communication with the owners was easy and very helpful. The roads are windy and steep, so arriving in daytime is best! We would recommend this home and would rent it again.

Super comfy place to stay
Super comfy place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The house has a nice layout with space for kids in the basement to play! The fire place is right in the center of it all! The rooms were all a good size and we fit perfectly. The kitchen had all we needed to feed a big crew! This house was a short drive to the ski slopes. The owners were wonderful to work with and really accommodated our requests! I felt like they were available if we needed to contact them. We enjoyed our time and hope to be back! Thanks

Not the best

The heating in this home is quite poor. There is baseboard heat in some rooms, but for the main living space of the home there is a single wall mounted unit which frequently trips it's breaker. We arrived rather late one evening with small sleeping children to find that the hosts do not bother to offer you a warm welcome. The heat is left off until your arrival and the beds are left stripped of linens. So, after your long trip, be prepared for house work to kick off your vacation. In a home that can sleep 8-10, you are only provided a single set of keys. This is fine, assuming that those 8-10 individuals spend every waking moment with one another for the entirety of the vacation. See that lovely fireplace in the photo? It's design makes it quite inconvenient to use since all sides must be securely screen while the fire is burning. You will also find that a centered fireplace does not draw as well as fireplaces you may be used to. This isn't a big deal, but you will notice that the environment will be smokier than expected. Perhaps the chimney could be cleaned, or the flue examined for proper installation. There will be some split wood available for your consumption, but not close to the home, dry, or brought in for you. This is something for dad to do while mommy makes the beds and your children freeze. The lower level is great a great area for separating playing children from playing adults. There's a dart board and a slightly used ping pong table. The paddles for the table have seen better days. The rubber was either dangling from the paddle or gone. Satellite TV is available, but only at the lowest package level known to man. We don't make it a point to watch television while on vacation. But, it's nice to put something on for the kids to help them wind down. If I were you, I would expect some of my security deposit to be withheld. While the list your failures may read as legitimate, the withheld amount won't add up to their true cost. From this, it is safe to assume that your hosts enjoy taking just a bit of your deposit to further grease their pockets but less than an amount that most would fuss about. I could go on, but I am running out of characters for this review. The best use of my remaining characters is to invite you to stay some place else. We have stayed at many other homes around the resort and have found the homes to be much more inviting. We hope this assists you in your vacation planning at Bryce.

Owner response: I want to use this response to clear up a few points that were misrepresented or simply false in your review. First, if the house was smoky from use of the fireplace, I am guessing that the flue was not open. This has never happened before, and the wrap-around fireplace is usually the focus and delight of the living room. It is maintained regularly. Also, the unlimited supply of firewood is kept right outside the home. Firewood is not pre-stored in the house, in order to prevent insects from entering the house. Second, I understand that you were upset with use retaining $30 from your deposit. This money went straight to our housecleaner, as the home was left in deplorable condition. With our extensive history of renters, we have not had it left in such disrepair, with dirty diapers left on the deck, candy wrappers on the floor throughout the home, etc. We have an excellent track record of returning full deposits, as we have been fortunate to have wonderful renters Third, this is our home away from home, and it is a very welcoming place, as many have commented. In addition to the warm décor, we leave out a bottle of wine and our housekeeper makes every attempt to adjust the heat and turn on a few lights prior to guest arrival. Fourth, your trouble with the heat was a tripped breaker, and we had a handyman out to the home immediately. This was the first time encountering this issue, but we followed through quickly and have since upgraded the electrical system so a tripped breaker will not happen again. Fifth, as is common in Bryce rentals, we used to provide clean sheets for guests in the linen closet. We have adjusted our policy to have all beds made upon arrival. That was a helpful suggestion. Lastly, we provide WiFi, DirecTV (basic), Pandora, Netflix, and HuluPlus to our guests, along with various DVDs. These media options cater to a wide range of interests, but we find that there is so much great stuff to do at Bryce, that TV watching is often limited.

We went with some friends and my dog, and we loved this place. The fireplace is amazing, and we made s'mores too! There are some nice wineries nearby (especially Wolf Gap), cool farmers market kind of places (Showalter's and Paugh's Orchard), and the Bryce resort was nice as well. Angie was absolutely wonderful to work with, and was very quick to respond to emails and any other questions I had. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks so much!

We had a great time. The granddaughters had their own space and the adults had their own. Very spacious, everyone greatly enjoyed relaxing around the fire. Very convenient to Bryce Resort. NICE. All the necessities of home and more. Loved the different puzzles and games for the girls to expand their imaginations with...WONDERFUL VACATION FOR THE FAMILY...Thanks

Why the Owner Chose Basye:
Bryce Resort really does have it all! My husband is a military officer, and we tend to move around often. We wanted our small children to grow up knowing one place intimately, and Bryce Resort fits the bill as one of the most family-friendly places we have ever vacationed.
