Perfect Ski Chalet Located in Bryce Resort!
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Welcome to North Wind! Come enjoy this 2200 sqft ski chalet at Bryce Resort. Located 3/4 of a mile from the main lodge and ski lifts. In the winter, the wonderful stand alone Swedish fireplace provides a cozy ambiance to stretch out and unwind after a day on the slopes or at the local vineyards. In the summer, a wrap- around porch and balcony provide plenty of outside space to enjoy the mountain air. Close to hiking, golf, skiing and swimming. A true four season resort just 1.5 hours from the beltway in DC.
There are three levels containing three bedrooms and 2.5 baths, with sleeping for 8-10 persons. On the main floor, there are two bedrooms. One has two full beds, the other bedroom has one bunk bed and one full size bed. Upstairs, there is the master bedroom complete with a queen size bed, and on the lowest level, there is a gameroom/ tv area with a queen sofa bed. The chalet comes with an assortment of movies, books, and toys. It is the perfect weekend retreat or holiday vacation spot! Well-behaved dogs welcome!
For winter rentals: You will find that this is a perfect chalet in which to unwind after hitting the slopes. There is a mud-room to keep your skis and take off your boots, heating throughout, an unlimited amount of firewood to use in the Swedish fireplace, and an open-floor setting to enjoy the company of others.
For summer time rentals: Please be advised that since the chalet sits atop a ridge line and receives wonderful breezes, it does not have central air conditioning. Instead, a 30,000 BTU mini split air conditioning system is found in the living room to efficiently cool the house. Also, there are two window units located in the master bedroom and the game room. Ceiling fans are located throughout.
Please note that due to popularity of rentals, we cannot guarantee a booking UNLESS the $150 refundable deposit has been received. Thank you for your understanding that we cannot 'hold' properties on verbal requests.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The house has a nice layout with space for kids in the basement to play! The fire place is right in the center of it all! The rooms were all a good size and we fit perfectly. The kitchen had all we needed to feed a big crew! This house was a short drive to the ski slopes. The owners were wonderful to work with and really accommodated our requests! I felt like they were available if we needed to contact them. We enjoyed our time and hope to be back! ThanksRecommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The heating in this home is quite poor. There is baseboard heat in some rooms, but for the main living space of the home there is a single wall mounted unit which frequently trips it's breaker. We arrived rather late one evening with small sleeping children to find that the hosts do not bother to offer you a warm welcome. The heat is left off until your arrival and the beds are left stripped of linens. So, after your long trip, be prepared for house work to kick off your vacation. In a home that can sleep 8-10, you are only provided a single set of keys. This is fine, assuming that those 8-10 individuals spend every waking moment with one another for the entirety of the vacation. See that lovely fireplace in the photo? It's design makes it quite inconvenient to use since all sides must be securely screen while the fire is burning. You will also find that a centered fireplace does not draw as well as fireplaces you may be used to. This isn't a big deal, but you will notice that the environment will be smokier than expected. Perhaps the chimney could be cleaned, or the flue examined for proper installation. There will be some split wood available for your consumption, but not close to the home, dry, or brought in for you. This is something for dad to do while mommy makes the beds and your children freeze. The lower level is great a great area for separating playing children from playing adults. There's a dart board and a slightly used ping pong table. The paddles for the table have seen better days. The rubber was either dangling from the paddle or gone. Satellite TV is available, but only at the lowest package level known to man. We don't make it a point to watch television while on vacation. But, it's nice to put something on for the kids to help them wind down. If I were you, I would expect some of my security deposit to be withheld. While the list your failures may read as legitimate, the withheld amount won't add up to their true cost. From this, it is safe to assume that your hosts enjoy taking just a bit of your deposit to further grease their pockets but less than an amount that most would fuss about. I could go on, but I am running out of characters for this review. The best use of my remaining characters is to invite you to stay some place else. We have stayed at many other homes around the resort and have found the homes to be much more inviting. We hope this assists you in your vacation planning at Bryce.Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. We openly solicit and welcome all feedback so that we can continue to make each experience a positive one. Unfortunately, we were required to retain $30 from your deposit to pay our housekeeper for the 1 ½ hours of additional cleaning required after your stay. Of the many tenants in our rental history, we have only had to retain partial deposits on two occasions. We hope to continue to have an exceptional rate of refunding full deposits. We upgraded the heat this past summer from baseboard heating in the main room to a wall mounted 30,000BTU mini-split AC/Heat unit. As soon as we were notified about your heating concerns, we contacted a handyman who came to the house and immediately addressed the problem. Although this was the first time we received a report of this nature, we have made arrangements to improve the electrical system of the house so that this doesn't happen again. Our housekeeper makes every attempt to adjust the heat and turn on a few lights prior to guest arrival. The firewood is stacked next to the house. It is kept dry with a tarp, and is available for unlimited use. We typically do not store wood in the mudroom in order to prevent insects and bugs from entering the home. Visitors are always welcome to use the firewood storage rack in the mudroom during their stay. Lastly, thank you for mentioning the linens. We have re-evaluated our approach, and will now have all the beds completely made upon arrival to make it as easy as possible for our guests.

We went with some friends and my dog, and we loved this place. The fireplace is amazing, and we made s'mores too! There are some nice wineries nearby (especially Wolf Gap), cool farmers market kind of places (Showalter's and Paugh's Orchard), and the Bryce resort was nice as well. Angie was absolutely wonderful to work with, and was very quick to respond to emails and any other questions I had. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks so much!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay at your house in Bryce. It was a great home base for visiting our daughters at Camp Strawderman in Edinburg. It was nice having room to spread out and make dinner ourselves rather than the usual hotel routine. The mountains were socked in by clouds on Friday and Saturday so we used the air conditioning more than I would have expected just to dry things out. I think we left everything in the same condition as when we arrived. However, my dog did bite through one of the ping pong balls. He is not normally a ball dog, but he got very excited when we started playing. I hope we can do this again next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We enjoyed our stay at the chalet. The only issue we had was the uncomfortable mattress that we slept on. It was the left room on the main floor. We put our son's girlfriend upstairs in the queen, so she could have her privacy. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and would return. We LOVED that it was pet friendly and the location was beautiful!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the great star rating! We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We took your comment seriously about the mattress and have since replaced it. We look forward to seeing you in the future.

We had a good time at the cabin. The kitchen was well equipped. The gas grill needed a good cleaning but the wire brush was worn down so we used foil. The neighbors in the area were very nice. The chalet was clean and had everything you need in fact there were things we didn't think would be there such as paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, etc. which isn't usually provided. The air conditioner in the master bedroom worked well the first night but seemed to struggle the second night; it was very very hot outside though 95! Overall we would recommend this chalet. Note: roads are pretty steep so you should drive a 4 wheel drive to this destination. Owners went out of their way to help us. We called them at 6:30 p.m. 3 times and they picked up immediately and directed us on how to get to the chalet and how to find the lock boxRecommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your comments! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and as you noted, we do strive to go the extra mile for our guests. One note I would like to make is that we have found that 2 wheel drive is sufficient to access the chalet without any issues. Think... Matrix, Prius, and even a motorcycle! We do, however, provide back road directions to our patrons in the winter months, when there is the possibility of significant snowfall.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We have been visiting Bryce for over three years now, and can't seem to get enough! We finally purchased this chalet in 2011 and are delighted to share it with you.
Why the Owner Chose Basye:
Bryce Resort really does have it all! My husband is a military officer, and we tend to move around often. We wanted our small children to grow up knowing one place intimately, and Bryce Resort fits the bill as one of the most family-friendly places we have ever vacationed.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
Our home has an unique stand-alone Swedish fireplace that allows multiple friends and family to gather around. The chalet has soaring ceilings, a wall of cedar, and lots of light. It has been decorated in an elegant, and warm manner. You will be sure to feel at home!
