This rental is worth every penny! I've traveled around the country a quite a bit over the last several years and found it difficult to rent a property that is up to par with the advertisement. This house on the other hand is all that it is claimed to be and MORE. It is priced very reasonably for what you get. Lots of room and very comfortable. I rented it for a childhood reunion with my brothers and friends who haven't been together for 30 years. As each one arrived and walked in they would all look around and say; "wow this place is really nice." It made me feel good that I had chosen a place that made everyone feel like they were special. Anyone who has traveled at all knows that most of the time you don't get what you pay for but this place will not disappoint. The owners are helpful and a pure pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend this cabin for anyone who wants a first class time spent with family or friends. Ann, I will be back. Thanks a lot!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Awesome review, Doug! Thank you so very much! So excited that you and your group enjoyed staying at our cabin, and that it was everything you had expected and more! Please come back to see us soon! Kindest regards, Ann and Dan

This home is in a beautiful river setting and has much to offer on the inside as well. Five bedrooms plus two bunk beds (full size!) allow for plenty of sleeping space. Three full bathrooms, 2 laundry rooms, 3 full-size refrigerators and and a modern kitchen (stocked with every conceivable utensil and dish!) all contribute to the comfort of this house for a group. It is thoughtfully decorated with durable, eye-pleasing furniture. A well-built staircase and tram to the river below make the high-on-a-hill placement of the home a plus. You get the great view, but are still able to access the river. The two large decks with tons of seating give even more room to spread out. The best thing about this place is the owners. They were readily available by phone leading up to our stay and called to check on us while we were there. They take obvious pride in their home and want to assure a good stay to guests. I do not hesitate to recommend this home and would consider returning.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Wayette, thank you so very much for choosing to stay with us! You are the second group from Texas to stay during the Thanksgiving holidays!! :) We are thrilled that the cabin accommodated your needs and hope that your family chooses to gather again at our place! Kindest regards, Ann and Dan

Our group meets up a couple times a year to camp and float in southern Missouri. This time we decided to rough it a little less and rented this cabin. It was clean, comfortable, well equipped, interestingly decorated and relaxing. This was the first time we've gone with a house rather than tent camping and it was definitely a great choice. This place is fantastic. The cabin is as advertised on vrbo.com. You won't be disappointed by the accommodations. There were three small children in our party. We found the cabin to be very kid friendly. They really enjoyed the karaoke machine, games and being able to watch cartoons in the morning. One in our party has some mobility issues due to a recent illness. The tram down to the river made it possible for him to join the rest of us for an afternoon next to the fire ring down by the river, which was great. We had a great time and will be looking to rent this cabin again in the spring.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Art, thank you so very much for staying with us! Delighted that you enjoyed your visit, and that you plan to come back in the Spring. The Spring foliage is beautiful!

We had a group of 10 people stay at the Van Buren Rental and we all had a blast. it is the perfect size house and could definately fit more people. We only stayed for two nights and looking back we all wished that we would have taken additional days off to stay and explore the Current River and surrounding Areas. I thought this place would have been in the middle of nowhere but Van Buren is only a 10 min drive and has a Grocery store (closes early), gas station, a couple of Liquer stores and Restaurants. We ate at the stray dogs BBQ and Pizza on friday. The Pizza looked delicious and the Pulled Pork Sandwiches were great! We are already talking about planning another trip back there this summer for a float trip down the current river. Only thing is we would spend a little more time!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hey Tough Mudders! Thank you so much for choosing our cabin to stay in when you participated in the Poplar Bluff extreme outdoor adventures! Thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the cabin accommodated your group's needs. Please come back again to enjoy more Current River activities!

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a great time with the kids. Everything was beyond our expectations. The kids enjoyed the tram and building a bon fire on Saturday night after an eight mile, all day float trip. The house is decorated with some of the best furnishing you could ask for in a retreat type home like that. We were very pleased with the view, from the huge deck, of the Current River. The whole process of renting was very easy and Ann is such a wonderful person. She has everything down to a science including the emailed directions. It was really interesting watching the fisherman work the river after dark with thier lights and gigs. We had never witnessed such an event before, but we all really thought that was cool.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the outstanding review, Rick! Glad that you guys were able to see the nighttime gig fishing! Very popular Current River sport. Please come back to visit us soon!

We had the house only for two days on a weekend, but from the first step we put into the house we felt like being at home. Every room was decorated by so many details that everyone of our group had to look in every room. The equipment in the kitchen, the bathrooms, the gaming room, the barbecue, everything was perfect! It is difficult to find another place after having been staying here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: What an honor it was to have you and your group choose our cabin to conduct your team-building session. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and truly hope that your next US travels will allow for another visit to our cabin on the Current River! Kindest regards, Ann and Dan

From the time we entered the property until we had to leave, this home gave our group the chance to do just what we had planned: visit to honor our late friend, Dave; enjoy childhood/teenage stories of wrestling, school days and adulthood; ride our Harleys to Alley Springs, Elephant Rocks and Big Springs; and experience the Current River. Those who came from Wisconsin and Indiana couldn't believe how clear the water is and the beauty of Alley Springs. Ann's home is the perfect place to gather and enjoy friends, family and the Current River area. The "cabin" is supplied with everything one needs on a vacation. We hape to come back again. If you are searching for a place to gather a large group or even a small group, this is it. We recommend it highly. Owner response: Connie, what a touching and heartwarming story that you wrote in our guestbook describing your group's tribute to your friend, Dave! We are so honored that you chose to stay with us and hope that you will stay with us again!

We had a wonderful vacation staying in this beautiful home. The owner was so sweet and answered all my questions (even though I probably drove her nuts calling her with questions!). She made sure everything was ready for our stay. We had 14 adults and one baby, there was pleanty of room for our group. We look forward to returning next summer!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the great review, Lisa, and you certainly didn't ask too many questions! Love telling people about the area, the beautiful Current River, and of course, the cabin! So glad that you enjoyed your stay, and hope that you will visit us again!!

Our Family & friends have been coming to Van Buren 20+ yrs to enjoy the beautiful country & floating on the Current River. Our Family's Grandpa farmed the land, watered his horses, & took baths in the Big Springs. Our Grandmother taught school in a one room school house in the area. In the 20+ years we have stayed in every rental place available including Kin Folk homes. This is the nicest, most equipped, most beautiful, & convenient place we have ever stayed in & accomodated our entire family. The furnishings were beautiful. The fully equipped kitchen impressed the cook of the family! The porch was the focal point of our time. We made many wonderful memories there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We are already booked for next July & have started the countdown to our return.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Brenda and Crystal, we absolutely loved hearing about your family's close connections to the Current River and the surrounding area. We are delighted that you have already made your reservations for next year, and hope that your family will be able to make many more wonderful memories here. Thank you for your wonderfully kind comments, and we look forward to seeing you next year!

It is so nice to actually get more than what you expect or pay for now a days and that is exactly how I feel after renting this property from Ann! The home was clean, nice and perfect for a weekend get away with friends and family. The house was stocked with everything you could ever need to make you wish this was your home. The location was great, the weather was fabulous and the trip was obviously a great success. I have rented from VRBO many times before and I have to say that this was the easiest transaction I have ever had with any of the homeowners! Ann was prompt, thorough and conducted the rental in a very professional manner. In addition, her personal touches to making us feel welcome, comfortable and excited about the stay was an added and very welcome bonus. I can't say enough about this property or our experience. Thank you for everything....it was great and we hope to repeat our trip next year only maybe for a little longer! The Severns FamilyRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Katie, our property management company will be thrilled to read your comments about the cabin. They take great pride in making certain that the cabin is clean, and at its best for each group of guests. Of course, I am ecstatic that the transaction was easy for you, and I hope that you will make reservations to visit us again next year! Kindest regards, Ann and Dan

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I grew up traveling to Van Buren and camping on the river's banks with my family. Once married, my husband and I continued the tradition of visiting the Current River annually. I always said as I was tubing down the river that 'one day' I was going to have a cabin that we could enjoy, and have for our children and grandchildren to enjoy, as well! In 2002, our dreams were fulfilled and we built our cabin nestled into the hillside right on the banks of the Current River!
Why the Owner Chose Van Buren:
We love everything about the Current River! Whether tubing, canoeing, boating, or just relaxing on the deck or patio, it is always the respite that we need from our busy schedules.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Tubing, canoeing, boating, wildlife viewing, swimming, fishing, touring the nearby Springs, are all activities that we enjoy
