This rental is worth every penny! I've traveled around the country a quite a bit over the last several years and found it difficult to rent a property that is up to par with the advertisement. This house on the other hand is all that it is claimed to be and MORE. It is priced very reasonably for what you get. Lots of room and very comfortable. I rented it for a childhood reunion with my brothers and friends who haven't been together for 30 years. As each one arrived and walked in they would all look around and say; "wow this place is really nice." It made me feel good that I had chosen a place that made everyone feel like they were special. Anyone who has traveled at all knows that most of the time you don't get what you pay for but this place will not disappoint. The owners are helpful and a pure pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend this cabin for anyone who wants a first class time spent with family or friends. Ann, I will be back. Thanks a lot!!

This home is in a beautiful river setting and has much to offer on the inside as well. Five bedrooms plus two bunk beds (full size!) allow for plenty of sleeping space. Three full bathrooms, 2 laundry rooms, 3 full-size refrigerators and and a modern kitchen (stocked with every conceivable utensil and dish!) all contribute to the comfort of this house for a group. It is thoughtfully decorated with durable, eye-pleasing furniture. A well-built staircase and tram to the river below make the high-on-a-hill placement of the home a plus. You get the great view, but are still able to access the river. The two large decks with tons of seating give even more room to spread out. The best thing about this place is the owners. They were readily available by phone leading up to our stay and called to check on us while we were there. They take obvious pride in their home and want to assure a good stay to guests. I do not hesitate to recommend this home and would consider returning.

Owner response: Wayette, thank you so very much for choosing to stay with us! You are the second group from Texas to stay during the Thanksgiving holidays!! :) We are thrilled that the cabin accommodated your needs and hope that your family chooses to gather again at our place! Our group meets up a couple times a year to camp and float in southern Missouri. This time we decided to rough it a little less and rented this cabin. It was clean, comfortable, well equipped, interestingly decorated and relaxing. This was the first time we've gone with a house rather than tent camping and it was definitely a great choice. This place is fantastic. The cabin is as advertised on vrbo.com. You won't be disappointed by the accommodations. There were three small children in our party. We found the cabin to be very kid friendly. They really enjoyed the karaoke machine, games and being able to watch cartoons in the morning. One in our party has some mobility issues due to a recent illness. The tram down to the river made it possible for him to join the rest of us for an afternoon next to the fire ring down by the river, which was great. We had a great time and will be looking to rent this cabin again in the spring.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Art, thank you so very much for staying with us! Delighted that you enjoyed your visit, and that you plan to come back in the Spring. The Spring foliage is beautiful!

We had a group of 10 people stay at the Van Buren Rental and we all had a blast. it is the perfect size house and could definately fit more people. We only stayed for two nights and looking back we all wished that we would have taken additional days off to stay and explore the Current River and surrounding Areas. I thought this place would have been in the middle of nowhere but Van Buren is only a 10 min drive and has a Grocery store (closes early), gas station, a couple of Liquer stores and Restaurants. We ate at the stray dogs BBQ and Pizza on friday. The Pizza looked delicious and the Pulled Pork Sandwiches were great! We are already talking about planning another trip back there this summer for a float trip down the current river. Only thing is we would spend a little more time!

Owner response: Hey Tough Mudders! Thank you so much for choosing our cabin to stay in when you participated in the Poplar Bluff extreme outdoor adventures! Thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the cabin accommodated your group's needs. Please come back again to enjoy more Current River activities!

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a great time with the kids. Everything was beyond our expectations. The kids enjoyed the tram and building a bon fire on Saturday night after an eight mile, all day float trip. The house is decorated with some of the best furnishing you could ask for in a retreat type home like that. We were very pleased with the view, from the huge deck, of the Current River. The whole process of renting was very easy and Ann is such a wonderful person. She has everything down to a science including the emailed directions. It was really interesting watching the fisherman work the river after dark with thier lights and gigs. We had never witnessed such an event before, but we all really thought that was cool.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Owner response: Thank you for the outstanding review, Rick! Glad that you guys were able to see the nighttime gig fishing! Very popular Current River sport. Please come back to visit us soon!

We had the house only for two days on a weekend, but from the first step we put into the house we felt like being at home. Every room was decorated by so many details that everyone of our group had to look in every room. The equipment in the kitchen, the bathrooms, the gaming room, the barbecue, everything was perfect! It is difficult to find another place after having been staying here.

From the time we entered the property until we had to leave, this home gave our group the chance to do just what we had planned: visit to honor our late friend, Dave; enjoy childhood/teenage stories of wrestling, school days and adulthood; ride our Harleys to Alley Springs, Elephant Rocks and Big Springs; and experience the Current River. Those who came from Wisconsin and Indiana couldn't believe how clear the water is and the beauty of Alley Springs. Ann's home is the perfect place to gather and enjoy friends, family and the Current River area. The "cabin" is supplied with everything one needs on a vacation. We hape to come back again. If you are searching for a place to gather a large group or even a small group, this is it. We recommend it highly. Terry and Connie

Our Family & friends have been coming to Van Buren 20+ yrs to enjoy the beautiful country & floating on the Current River. Our Family's Grandpa farmed the land, watered his horses, & took baths in the Big Springs. Our Grandmother taught school in a one room school house in the area. In the 20+ years we have stayed in every rental place available including Kin Folk homes. This is the nicest, most equipped, most beautiful, & convenient place we have ever stayed in & accomodated our entire family. The furnishings were beautiful. The fully equipped kitchen impressed the cook of the family! The porch was the focal point of our time. We made many wonderful memories there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We are already booked for next July & have started the countdown to our return.

Owner response: Brenda and Crystal, we absolutely loved hearing about your family's close connections to the Current River and the surrounding area. We are delighted that you have already made your reservations for next year, and hope that your family will be able to make many more wonderful memories here. Thank you for your wonderfully kind comments, and we look forward to seeing you next year!

It is so nice to actually get more than what you expect or pay for now a days and that is exactly how I feel after renting this property from Ann! The home was clean, nice and perfect for a weekend get away with friends and family. The house was stocked with everything you could ever need to make you wish this was your home. The location was great, the weather was fabulous and the trip was obviously a great success. I have rented from VRBO many times before and I have to say that this was the easiest transaction I have ever had with any of the homeowners! Ann was prompt, thorough and conducted the rental in a very professional manner. In addition, her personal touches to making us feel welcome, comfortable and excited about the stay was an added and very welcome bonus. I can't say enough about this property or our experience. Thank you for everything....it was great and we hope to repeat our trip next year only maybe for a little longer! The Severns Family

We had a little family reunion at the cabin last weekend, 13 adults and 3 toddlers. Everyone found the cabin to exceed our expectations! Everything was exceptionally clean and well organized. The house is absolutely beautiful and the setting is just gorgeous. We all really enjoyed being able to swim right there at the house (temperatures were over 100 degrees the entire time). The tram to the river is awesome! Our kids could've ridden that thing all day. It is a wonderful home for entertaining. The lay out is so open you can all hang out together, but roomy enough that there is space to spread out too! It was fun to sit on the deck at dusk and watch all of the bats diving for food right in front of you. There is lots of wildlife to be seen, hummingbirds at the feeders on the deck, frogs, turtles and fish to catch in the water! We certainly look forward to returning. The view from the deck is stunning; I would love to come in the Fall when the leaves will be changing. Ann was so friendly and helpful in arranging our visit. She certainly makes you feel like a personal friend who is staying over. Thank you so much for opening up your lovely home to us!

This house had every thing you could ask for in a vacatin spot. The house was very well equipped and close enough to town that if you did need something it wasn't a big deal to go get it. The house is located in a nice place on the river where the water isn't too deep and it is easy to get in the water the tram made it nice to haul things up and down to the river. The whole family had a blast we'll be coming back next year got sure thanks Ann. Mike

The home was exactly as described; beautiful and full of amenities. My husband and I stayed three nights in this gorgeous home with four other couples. The kitchen had nearly every utensil and specialty cookware you could imagine. Luckily we had someone in our group that loves to cook. The house was beautifully furnished and comfortable. The house sits right off the Current River, which we enjoyed immensely. We enjoyed the local canoe/tubing float trips down the river and the friendly atmosphere. We plan on visiting this home again next year!

We spent a long weekend at this cabin with my extended family and had a great time. The cabin was ready when were were told it would be, it was clean, and comfortable. The Cabin is right on the River which was great as we could go wade in the river any time. There was also a decent flat portion of ground next to the river for lawn chairs and the kids to play. We took a float trip (we used The Landings as our outfitter) I highly recommend doing the 1/2 day trip you put in upstream of the cabin (We had a scheduled 10:00 time at the landings in Van Buren, by the time you get geared up and get in the water you will float by the cabin about an hour and half later.) This made the float trip took excellent for smal kids - we pulled out of the water had lunch on the deck used the facilities and returned to the water for the remainder of the trip. Another 2 - 2.5 hours depending on the river and wind. Also there are great hiking options near to the cabin, but the river was the big attraction for us. The cabin also had excellent seating options for eating with a large group - if the weather was nice you can eat outside on the deck, if it was too cool or too hot there was plenty of room inside. We had a total of 14 in our group and I don't ever recall feeling like we were crowded. The kitchen was well stocked with every cooking supply you could want and plenty of fridge space. Everyone in our group had a great time, we loved the cabin location and how quiet it was. I expect that we will return to this location on a regular basis.

Owner response: David, thank you for the amazing review and great depiction of a typical summer day on the Current River! We hope that you will join us again soon!

The Current River Cabin was everything it promised to be on the website! It was an amazing vacation. There was room for everyone. The beds were comfortable. There were fans in every room for those of us that need a fan at night! The views from the balcony were the best feature. In fact, a picture I took from there is my wallpaper on my phone. The small town nearby was a joy to explore. It had a nice country cooking restaurant when you feel like taking a break from cooking and an outstanding ice cream "stand"! I recommend this cabin to anyone. We loved it and will plan a future vacation or two there!

Owner response: Tara, what a joy it has been getting to know you and your family through our VRBO vacation home! It's funny that you mentioned the fans in every room, because even though each bedroom already has a ceiling fan, we added a box fan to each room to provide "white noise" for great sleeping! :) Dan and I are delighted you elected to stay with us, and hope that you will join us again!

We've been coming to the Current River for many years, however, this trip was so much more enjoyable because of the wonderful accommodations . We were pleasantly surprised how anything and everything anyone would need was available. The tram was a definite bonus, some of the older people in our group really appreciated it .We loved the decor throughout the home, and the kids LOVED the basement. The jukebox was a hit among all of us. There was a pool tournament, card games played, and a fire down at the river, thanks to Dan and Ann for having the wood ready. We would most certainly recommend this lovely cabin (mansion on the hill ) to any and all. We look forward to returning here in the future. The home was meticulous and Ann was very helpful to answer any of our questions. Thank you for allowing our family and friends to spend an unforgettable time. As far as nearby activities, we went to Big Springs, and Johnson Shut-Ins, Lesterville, Mo. All in all, some wonderful memories were made and the "cabin" was a big part of it. May God bless and keep you in His care.

My family and I spent the Holiday at the River Cabin. We enjoyed ourselves so much. The weather was cold and dreary outside but the fireplace was so warming and relaxing. We also saw a few eagles, very interesting to watch. The pool table downstairs was the most enjoyable spot for my family. The house has everything that a person would have at their own home. We felt very much at home while we were there. The owners Dan and Ann are very nice people. They are very willing to answer any questions that a person may have. We hope to return in the future. As an almost halfway point between friends in Arkansas and Southern Illinois, eight of us chose this home for a weekend getaway. We were amazed at what was waiting for us !! It was fantastic! The decor was very tastefully done, the setting was beautiful and peaceful in this fall time of year, the owners were incredibly nice, I just can't even think of one negative thing !! I truly hope any who decide to stay in this wonderful home will care for it and leave it to be the blessing that it was for us in our stay. As we were sitting around the beautiful stone fireplace, several of us dreamed of having our families there for reunions, holidays, summer floating on the river in the front yard, and just more of the 'girl trips' that we so enjoy! Thank you to the owners for being so gracious with their beautiful place.

"Best Thanksgiving ever," said my husband as we drove away from the cabin after a weeklong stay. It was the perfect place for us to spend the holidays with out families, ages 6 months to 64 years, from Illinois, Missouri, Texas and Louisiana. The house is beautifully decorated and well supplied with all the amenties of home (and more). The night before the kids arrived, we played the jukebox and danced to oldies, and had a blast. No one ever felt crowded as each couple had their own bedroom and the kids loved being together in the downstairs den. The far back bedroom on the left had plenty of room for the 6-month old's pack'n'play. Tt was great having refrigerators and laundry rooms on both floors. The decks are spacious and well furnished. It rained a couple of days but that really didn't matter, as there was so much to do. On one beautiful clear night, we sat outside, roasted marshmallows, and made smores. We watched an amazing light show in the sky, saw the Milky Way, many constellations, satellites, and shooting stars. The kids and grandkids loved the tram to the river, and spent a lot of time on the riverbank fishing with grandpa. We ate several times at the little restaurant in town that makes the best pies. We even ordered two pies for Thanksgiving dinner. Some took a trip to the springs and hiked to the top, while others played in the park. The teens wouldn't have survived without the internet connection, so that was a big plus. Everyone agreed they want to go back in the summer to float in the river. Ann is so sweet and accommodating and I loved talking to her. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.
