My husband and I stayed in this cottage for a week with our three year old son and we couldn't have been happier. Feels like you are living in the lovely Elmwood neighborhood with coffee shops, restaurants, the university, and more within walking distance. House was super clean and modern with all the amenities you could need-wireless internet, tv, washer/dryer, coffee pot, dishes, blackout shades in the bedroom, etc. Reserving and getting in went super smooth. There is a lovely front deck and a back patio with a barbecue as well. We couldn't have asked for more! I just want to point to a few things you should be aware of: 1. The bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs so it was a bit of a challenge with a kid or if you have to pee in the middle of the night like I do:) 2. The heater is downstairs and it can get quite cold upstairs in the bedroom so we bought our own space heater for the bedroom. 3. There are no blinds on the front windows so if you plan on sleeping on the foldout couch you might feel a little exposed (though there is a big shady tree that does provide some cover). Other than those things, this place was perfect for us and we can't wait to go back. The owner was also very helpful and responsive if we had questions!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for the feedback on the heating. The gas fireplace downstairs is powerful and if set at 74 can comfortably warm the upstairs before going to sleep. We also have a fluffy down comforter as well as a down blanket to keep the European Sleep Works bed warm and toasty. I'm from Hawaii and I too love a warm bed! Also there is a privacy blind on the larger center window in the living room. We will consider adding more. Thanks again and hope to have you back soon!

My husband and I visited for a week and loved this charming home. We are so grateful we were allowed to bring our 2 little dogs. They loved the front deck and we loved that it was a safe place for them to soak up the sun and watch the goings on of the street. The location was perfect for a short stroll to Campus or the shops of Elmwood, longer walks to Rockridge, and fabulous hikes in the hills. The neighborhood is quite beautiful, safe, and quiet. We couldn't believe how quiet it was, especially since we were only 1 block off of College. The home is equipped with top notch furnishings from the dishes and cookware in the kitchen, to the bed and linens in the bedroom. This is a wonderful home with no negatives. We can't wait to come back, and next time it will be a longer visit.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My husband and I came up to Berkeley to celebrate my daughter’s graduation and this was just the perfect place to stay. It was minutes away from the university, shops and restaurants and a few blocks away from my daughter’s apartment. The location was just perfect! The house was great and I loved the furniture! I don’t usually sleep well during the 1st night away from home, but I had no problems here-slept like a baby. My husbands only complaint was the noisy bird that woke him up in the morning. I would definitely recommend this property!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great week! The house was lovely, clean and well maintained. There are even beautiful flowers to enjoy all around the house. We are a family of four, kids are 7 and 11. We were very comfortable in the house; it is small but feels roomy. There is a beautiful deck out front, read or just enjoy the neighborhood. If you like to exercise, there are runners and trails all over the area, and really beautiful neighborhoods to run through. The town is close and accessible; we walked in several times. We also had a car, parking was not a problem as long as you are ready to leave for the day by 10am, and come back in the evening. We went into SF a few times, that was also convenient from the house. My only recommendation would be to put up curtains in the den for a little privacy in the event someone is using the pull-out couch. We look forward to coming back next time we are in town to visit our family, and definitely recommend this property! Important to also note, the owner was great to work with and I have my security deposit back in less than a week! Terrific.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the review - glad you found everything to your liking and had a great week. After your departure we moved the HD flat panel TV away from the bay windows and mounted it over the fireplace; and also added surround sound. The french bay windows are now ready for window coverings which will be installed next week when we are in Berkley to enjoy the property ourselves! And yes, Berkeley parking is restricted by 2 hour windows during working hours, however daily parking passes may be available upon request and the $7 lot is 2 short blocks away. We look forward to your return as well - thank you!

Getting in late from the airport on Valentine's Day could have been so depressing. Instead, I was welcomed by the most wonderful cottage. The perfect size for one or two people. Soothing decor. Very well stocked kitchen. HDTV and wireless internet. And excellently located to coffee shops, markets, restaurants, and the Berkeley campus. I found a nearby track, as well as a hiking trail that took me up to the most incredible views of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. I also loved the cozy gas furnace/fireplace. I highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The cottage is simply adorable, from the vaulted ceilings in the bedroom to the bay windows in the living room to the large front deck, just adorable. The owner is easy to work with and the location couldn’t be better for UC Berkley and the Elmwood district. There is shopping and entertainment one block away on College Avenue. We had a great time and truly enjoyed this well maintained, comfortable little house. We highly recommend a stay at this charming property.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We had a fabulous stay at this truly charming cottage. It is minutes by foot from Elmwood's College Ave with loads of restaurants and shops. The cottage is very well equipped with a full kitchen and all the utensils one could want. Nearly everything from the HDTV to furniture to linens and towels are new and the property in general very well cared for. The cottage layout and front deck are both full of character. It all created a comfortable and memorable stay for us. We will definitely recommend this property to friends and family.Recommended for: Age 55+.
