Cozy Beach House Gem on World-Class Cove
- Minimum stay:N/A

Our house is on one of the most beautiful coves of beach anywhere. This beach is a secret gem and you may often find that you are the only person on the sand. Our house is only a fifteen minute drive from lovely downtown Santa Barbara and 1 1/2 hours away from west Los Angeles. You can enjoy watching the dolphins swim by as you eat at the kitchen table or sit on the front deck. You can try out our kayaks for a closer look in the sheltered bay. Come relax and enjoy. We are located between Carpinteria--a small, friendly beach town, and Montecito--a community with beautiful hillside canyons and spectacular estates. Both cities have excellent restaurants, wonderful farmers' markets, antique shopping, etc. The Santa Barbara wine country is not far. Nearby to the north and east of us, the Los Padres National Forest, offers thousands of square miles of back country opportunities. Nearby are multiple opportunities for outdoor activities or fine dining and entertainment.

What a wonderful home on an even more wonderful secluded beach. The house was well stocked with everything we needed, including playings like kayaks and bikes. The beach must be one of the most pristine and beautiful in California. We even saw and chatted briefly with a celebrity who lives on the cove. We would recommend the beach house to anybody.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The property is very accurately described in the listing. This is not an "executive home" or designer monstrosity--it is a beach cottage that is utterly charming in every sense of the word. This home is compact, but well laid out with no wasted space. The kitchen is actually better than described in the listing--it is small but very servicable. There were good kitchen tools (knives, garlic press etc) and a large assortment of pots and pans along with tons of dishes. I prepared a Thanksgiving feast here with ease. The living area is also small and cozy, but with ample lounging space and entertainment options. The entire west wall of the house is a series of sliding glass doors that brings the outside in and fills the house with the most amazing light. Parking is easy and ample. The house was immaculate upon arrival and there were spare linens available. The beds were comfortable. The location of spare supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags) was logical and the backstock adequate. This is a cozy beach house and much of the charm is in that it is obviously a cherised family property--the eclectic art and lovely pottery are part of what make this a wonderful vacation home. The beach is secluded and quiet and the view is just breathtaking (even in November). We enjoyed walking the beach and while there is a nice assortment of kayaks, boogie boards and other equipment, my favorite amenity was the porch swing. Bundled in a blanket against the cool November air, we enjoyed many a sunset from the swing. The owner was very easy to work with and I would recommend this property to my family and friends. My suggestions? I have two: 1) Like many beach houses, this house has a name that is posted by the front door. When you stay here, make a game of seeing who can solve the pun that is the name (it's quite clever and you can solve it if you are observant when in the house). 2) For truly amazing and authentic no-frills Mexican food, go to Beach Liquor on Linden Avenue in Carpinteria (it's right next to the Von's)--it's not every day you see a liquor store/taco stand but the food is fresh and fantastic! This property is not inexpensive, but the location and the home itself are worth the price. As someone who typically spends 20+ weeks per year traveling on business, it was significant that I got a bit misty eyed when leaving this property--for once while traveling I felt truly at home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We loved our stay at your wonderful beach house!!! Your home is situated on what must be the most exclusive beach in Southern California... Your home is very nice and cozy and had everything our family needed. But, the best part was the spectacular views from all the rooms of the ever changing ocean, your wonderful cove, the Channel islands across the channel and Santa Barbara twinkling in the distance. And, seeing one of your movie star neighbors on the beach was so unexpected. You made everything so easy for us to have the time of our lives. We will cherish the memory forever.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Location
Owner info
About the owner: We are three siblings who have enjoyed this location since the early 1970's. Our children and now their children have grown up loving this special place.
Why the Owner Chose Carpinteria:
Our house was built in 1971 by our parents, Mel and Gloria Nimmer. At that time, this stretch of beach had few houses and we have many happy memories of frog songs and empty lots.
