"White Pine Cottage" is in a terrific location within walking distance from Main Street. It overlooks the town and a Grandfather Mountain sunset view. The Cottage has all the comforts of home, but permits one to escape the busy life in which we live. It's a true Blowing Rock experience!
There are many things to do for the whole family such as: Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Boone, Valle Crucis, and Mystery Hill - or shopping at the nearby outlet stores! All of these wonderful experiences are close by to enjoy day trips without a lot of travel time. You can cuddle up by the stone fireplace to enjoy a good book or chill out sitting on the covered porch while watching the sun set behind Grandfather Mountain!

Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock
Tom knew the original owners of "White Pine Cottage", both of whom are now deceased. When the Cottage became available for sale, Tom & Vickie were immediately interested in a possible purchase, but decided that it would make sense for the home to be purchased jointly with his daughter and son-in-law, since they live permanently in the area. Chuck Neal is a Contractor, so he has been able to take care of any maintenance problems as they arise. Again, we love the Blowing Rock area and felt it would be worthwhile to have something available for others to share.
The Unique Benefits at this Ranch Cottage
The view and the manner in which the Cottage overlooks the Town of Blowing Rock and the spectacular sunset of Grandfather Mountain makes it all worthwhile! Beyond that, there is the convenience to downtown Blowing Rock which is just a four-block walk to Main Street. Also the easy access to the Cottage with a couple of parking spaces adjacent to the home ... and only two steps up to enter Cottage! No hills or stairs to climb, a 29' x 10' covered porch and a fireplace that works!

Tom & Vickie Robertson have owned a Cottage in the same community for 27 years, near "White Pine Cotttage". Tom's daughter and son-in-law, Hollis & Chuck Neal, stayed in Tom's Cottage some after the original purchase and fell in love with Blowing Rock and the Mountains! They decided to move permanently to the area, residing in their own home in Valle Crucis near Blowing Rock. Both their daughters have attended local schools and graduated from Watauga High. One is attending ASU and will graduate in December, 2009. The other is attending East Tennessee State in her first year.

We came from San Antonio in search of snow. Snow Angels ... a Snowman, Snowball fights - we did it all in this yard where a family's memories forever hold this cottage dear. After all the effort not to be sick on vacation, it happened the day before we left Walterboro. I was in a really ill mood from the 5 hour trip here. Cold and ready for relief. When we opened the front door to "White Pine", it was like the most warm welcome home I had ever felt entering my own home. I instantly felt relief from the cold and the trip. Nice family vacation. Your storms are, however, supercharged! Good time for family to re-unite, socialize, play games and enjoy the food of the area. Has been rather rainy, but have managed to plan outings around the weather. We certainly hope to see the sunset over Grandfather Mtn., but so far the weather has not cooperated.
