Alameda is a short ferry, bus or car ride into San Francisco - a world class destination for culture, arts and entertainment. Return to quiet living in a family friendly neighborhood where you can walk to just about anything. We love to stroll along the beach or take bike rides around the Bay, go out to eat at Scolari's - which many feel are the BEST hamburgers in the world! Over the summer, there are free concerts once a month where you can picnic alongside the beach and listen to some tunes without worrying about the kids. About a 10 minute drive you are also in downtown Oakland or Berkeley where there is a bustling arts, music and food scene. Alameda is the best of both worlds, its a quiet small town, a hop skip and a jump from city life.
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: I am a Bay Area native having grown up in the South Bay. My husband and I lived in San Francisco for 10 years after getting married. Once the two kiddos arrived, we decided to move to beautiful Alameda and we couldn't be happier! Alameda is quiet, convenient, we can spread out and relax, while the city is still easily accessible. My husband is originally from Spain and we visit his family every other summer for a month - thus our desire to share our home during that time.
Why the Owner Chose Alameda: As soon as we walked into this property - my husband and I looked at each other and silently said, 'this is it!' The old world charm of the craftsman details along with the large and bright kitchen and classic lay out with the bedrooms upstairs - and I shouldn't forget a yard! (unusual in Alameda) and we knew we had found our home for many years to come. Not to mention how incredibly convenient it is to everything - downtown, beach, shopping. We love this house and are happy to share it with travelers who will enjoy its special charm as well.
