Wonderful and clean
Wonderful and clean
Cabin was better than described. We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was very clean and easy to locate. It was just a few miles from local attractions and grocery store. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of linens. We would most definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to our friends. My husband travels frequently and commented that if there was a cabin like this everywhere he went, he would never stay in a motel again!

We stayed 2 nights in the cabin and it was wonderful. Like others have posted the photos do not do it justice. It is beautiful inside and out. The atmosphere is so relaxing. Very clean and tidy. Loved sitting on the front porch. Great view. If you are headed to the area do not think about staying in a hotel. This is the place to be.

My family and I came there to stay for 2 nights in July. We had such a great relaxing time! My 3 little boys enjoyed the Yard and Animals! I can't believe I was gonna get a hotel! The pictures dont do it Justice! It is far more detailed and beautiful than you will ever expect! We are going back in Dec to see the Christmas decor!!

I can not even begin to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Viola's cabin! Our two year old keeps asking when we are going back to his cabin. The location could not be better. It is less than 5 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock or Boone but feels like you are a world away! It is so quiet and peaceful at the cabin. We had the most amazing afternoons relaxing on the front porch. It was so nice to have a beautiful and safe outdoor area for our two year old to run around and play. He loved pushing his cars off the porch and then retrieving them. He talked to the goats and chickens and was so disappointed when they were in their barn due to the rain the morning we left. It was nice to have such a great place for him that enable us to actually sit on the front porch and read for hours at a time! The front porch even has a wonderful table that made it possible for us to enjoy dinner each night sitting outside. The cabin is very charming and extremely clean! I only wish we had been able to stay longer...but worked called us back. We can not wait to stay here again! It was so nice to just get away and enjoy some quality family time.

Wonderful cabin. . .
Wonderful cabin. . .
for relaxing and resting. My husband and I enjoyed April 3-5 at Viola's cabin. It is a beautiful place - a wonderful tribute to Ina's sister, Viola. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the goats and chickens, and enjoyed Buddy, the dog also. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to get away from everyday life - sit back and see the wonderful world God has made for us to enjoy in the mountains. Thanks for everything! B&W

Anyone looking for a quiet getaway will enjoy staying at this cabin. My wife and I spent a couple of nights and did not want to leave. The furniture is clean and comfortable. The owners were out of town during our stay, but their son came to let us in and made certain we had all that was needed to make our visit enjoyable. He treated us like long time friends. There is even a dog that comes over to sit on the porch with you. It is close to many restaurants, but we suggest that you bring your food and stay around the cabin because the time there ends all too quickly. If long exercising walks, friendly people, and enjoying the beauty of God's creation is what you seek, then you need look no further. We have found the place to go for all of our future getaways.

Everything I was looking for!
Everything I was looking for!
I cannot say enough about this charming cabin. It's exactly what I had in mind and hoped for. The pictures do not do it justice (the place is washed in natural light- something that definitely doesn't show in the pictures.) Every inch of the place oozes with detail- from the candles around the footed bathtub, to the mountain themed quilt on the bed, to the lantern on the table- this truly is an authentic cabin. (It's over 100 years old!) My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights lounging on the couch by the fire, all warm and cozy. It's a short 5 minute drive into Blowing Rock, and Ina, the owner, is about as helpful and sweet as can be. Very private. It was hard to leave! I would absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone, and we hope to go back! I'm a stickler about 'clean', and this place exceeded expectation. If you're looking for a genuine log cabin in the woods, this is your place.

About the owner: Our names are Dell & Ina Bolick. We have been married for 49 years and have lived on this property where Dell was raised for 45 years. We have 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We are both semi-retired, Dell being a crane operator and I am a potter. We both enjoy spending time with our family. Dell is a hunter and I enjoy working in my flowers.
Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock:
The older part of this cabin was first used as a barn. Built in Montgomery County NC, it is believed to have been in the late 1800’s to very early 1900’s. My daddy, M.L. Owens bought the barn from a family member of the original owner in the late 1970’s. He took it down and moved it to his and mama’s property at Owens Pottery in Seagrove, NC and rebuilt it there. After his death in 2003 my brothers and sisters gave us the cabin. We numbered each log as we took it down and moved it here in 2004. We began rebuilding it in 2006 with a new addition. After five years of hard but loving work, we completed the cabin restoration in August of 2011. The land that it stands on was given to us by Dell’s dad and mama, Vernon and Macie Bolick. All of the land surrounding us here has been in the Bolick family for many generations. We are proud of our heritage. The name “Viola’s Cabin” is in Loving Memory of my sister Viola Owens Brady, who’s dream was to have a mountain cabin. Viola passed away in 1989 before that dream was possible. We wanted to share her dream with others who love the mountains as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We are located just 3 short miles from shopping, restaurants, skiing and many other area attractions so no matter what you choose to do on your vacation, you won't have to travel too far. I enjoy the peace and quiet of the morning on my front porch with a cup of coffee. Listening the the crickets at night and going for a walk in the evening.
