As other reviews have said - and I can now attest to - Kenneth is a wonderful host and the property is even better in-person than in photos. In fact, my husband and I are now investigating the purchase of a similar unit in the same community! It is comfortable, roomy, beautifully furnished and within walking distance of some of our favorite new places. I very highly recommend this home to anyone staying in Phoenix. It is far superior to any hotel. (Just don't rent it during the weeks I hope to return, this year)!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Finding a reasonably priced place to stay in the Phoenix area during the months of Baseball Spring Training is challenging. We were fortunate to find this property to rent for a week in March. The rental was exactly as described. It was located in the arts section of Phoenix within walking distance of restaurants, bars and galleries, a very short drive to museums, and close to an expressway entrance giving us easy access to all of metropolitan Phoenix. The property itself was well appointed with three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a third floor balcony. The owner was very helpful in recommending places to eat and sites to see. He invited us to contact him if any questions arose and provided his cell phone number for us to call at any time. We are planning to return to Phoenix next year and will rent this same property. No needed to bother looking for any place else.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Our group really enjoyed the town home. Very spacious, brand new appliances, and a good amount of outdoor space. Ken was very hospitable and made sure we knew the neighborhood's best places to dine, have a drink, and be entertained. This is an easy choice if you have to be in downtown Phoenix. We'll be there again soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is my first experience with VRBO and it could not have been better. This spectacular modern home is beautifully furnished, pristine, comfortable and perfectly located. We enjoyed walking to wonderful local restaurants (don't miss Breadfruit of Barrio Cafe) and cultural attractions like the Heard Museum and Library. Encanto golf course which was just a few minutes drive was very reasonable. The owner was especially hospitable and helpful in orienting us to his home's amenities ,local restaurants, shops and events such as the farmer's market.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Everything indicated in previous reviews were accurate. Very clean, modern, with multiple different spaces. It's obvious but be aware there are many stairs to climb so for the elderly this may be an issue. Also the upstairs loft area is open to the second bedroom, it wasn't a problem for me but if privacy is an issue be aware. Centrally located to everything so that was great. It's not in the nicest areas but they are building alot of condos in the area so developing fast. It seemed safe enough. Close to downtown so close to the arena as well.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

What a great place to stay. Beautifully decorated. Had everything you would need and more. Owner even welcomed us with a six pack of local brew. Very interesting area. Funky art walk on Friday nights and great local farmers market on Saturdays, all within walking distance. Would come back and stay again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a fantastic find! Great location near the center of town with shops and restaurants nearby along with grocery stores and coffee shops. We were just a block away from the First Friday activities. Very easy to jump on the expressway when I needed to get around town. The place is beautiful! Very we kept and very well decorated. Very hip and modern yet also very comfortable. High quality details everywhere from the countertop to the art and wonderful sound system. The garage was also nice to have! I had a several friends over and they called it a hipsters palace. :-) Kenneth and Heather were great and they made us feel right at home with a very helpful guide list of things to do and even a six pack in the fridge! Thanks! I was here on business and I entertained some of my colleagues. They had a great time as we sat on the deck and drank wine under the stars. We even heated up the grill. Very nice! I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to a wide range of people. Kids would love this place and for modern couples it really is a dream.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My husband and I planned to vacation in Phoenix for the first time and I had the great fortune of finding this WONDERFUL town home on-line, and then spending a week there. It is beautiful and clean, and we even each got our own bathroom with shower!! You could easily have 3 couples staying there. Fully functional kitchen with the basics...we often made our own breakfast and had morning coffee on the patio. Even a garage with remote opener. Everything Kenneth recommends is worthy. And the location is wonderful. We walked to alot of places, and if we went further afield, usually the drive wasn't more than 20-30 minutes. Our highlights were: hiking in South Mountain Park (we followed Kenneth's advise for a route...but it did take us 6 hours (not 3)...we stopped alot), the Japanese Friendship Garden, the Musical Instrument Museum and the scottsdalesegwaytours.com. The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is world class if you are at all into music....and it is fabulous to combine that with Aloha (happy) hour ( 4 - 6 PM) at Roy's (inside the Marriott Desert Ridge Resort), which is only a few minutes drive away from the MIM. Other delicious restaurants: Pizzeria Bianco and Matt's Big Breakfast, and Turf Irish Pub (great happy hour and fish and chips, albeit a bit noisy)...all within walking distance. There are so many great places to eat, drink and see in Phoenix that we will have to come back. Kenneth could not be a better owner...I think he even arranged for the fabulous weather (well, I'm sure he would have if he could have!!). The town home exceeded our expectations. For people who like to sightsee (as apposed to lounging around a pool) this is the place to be. There is nothing better than coming back "home" after a full day, and have a drink on the upstairs patio and see the lights of the city, then snuggle into a comfy bed and have a great night's sleep. The place is absolutely fabulous.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

BEST PLACE IN PHOENIX!

If you are coming to Phoenix and thinking of staying in a hotel or anywhere but here then you need to get your head checked immediately. There is just no way you will stay in a nicer place, a cooler neighborhood, or receive this level of hospitality anywhere else! Before talking about the home itself, I need to touch on how amazing Ken and Heather are. I do not believe they possess the word “no” in their vocabulary repertoire. First we asked if it was OK if we extended our stay past the dates and times originally scheduled. “Of course!” was their response. Then, last minute, we asked if we could add additional people to the reservation. We definitely didn’t expect them to say yes since their HomeAway listing says 7 people limit, and we needed space for 9. Well, Ken and Heather didn’t disappoint. Not only did they say, “of course!” again, but they went out of their way to purchase 2 blowup beds, sheets, and additional seating for the dining table, none of which we asked for but were extremely helpful and appreciated. The pictures of the house on HomeAway DO NOT do this place justice. I’m not sure any picture could. It’s just an incredibly beautiful, modern, and spotlessly clean home. I can’t speak for the other beds in the house, but the bed in the master bedroom was unbelievably comfortable, to the point where I considered stealing it. But I digress. We watched the sunset every night from their third story balcony, where we had a completely unobstructed 220-degree view of downtown Phoenix and the beautiful surrounding mountains. Once the sun set, we would eat and drink downstairs on the their outside patio that includes seats, a table and a really nice grill. The house is situated in by far the coolest neighborhood we came across in our stay in Phoenix. The surrounding blocks can best be described as an artisan oasis, with intimate music venues, art galleries, funky bars, and artsy coffee shops (one of which, Jobot Coffee, Ken and Heather left us 2 free drink tickets for…the coffee was amazing!). The close location (literally only a 10 minute walk) is ideal if you are not planning on renting a car in Phoenix, which we did not. We had no problem hopping between downtown and the house multiple times a day. Whether you are coming to Phoenix to stay with friends or family (or both!), you absolutely need to stay here. You won’t regret a minute of it and you will leave feeling like you are part of the Phoenix community!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Matt's Big Breakfast View on map
Featured on Food Network and possibly the best breakfast in the US. Definitely the best breakfast in Arizona. Get there early to put your name on the list and be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes. HINT: Go on Saturday mornings and put 'Market' next to your name, then walk over to the Phoenix Public Market and you won't lose your place in line. Return after 45 minutes and check in on where you are at.

About the owner: My wife and I travel frequently around the country and world but agree that Phoenix is 'home'. We love the active downtown lifestyle and culture and arts scene in Phoenix, as well as the fantastic weather and gorgeous outdoor wonderland that is Arizona! We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm about this city and State with you during your visit!
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
The home is within walking distance to many popular downtown sports, music and theater venues. In addition, our place is an entertainer's dream and we've hosted many fun events here ourselves. Guests can enjoy all that the city has to offer without worrying about parking or driving home. A stay at this residence allows you to experience Phoenix in style!
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
The 'First Friday' and 'Third Friday' art walks are amazing with thousands of people in the streets and artists showing their latest works in the nearby galleries. Street performers come out in force and the talent at the local music venues is amazing. Neighborhood coffee shops, open air market place and 'local first' events gives a great sense of community in a big city.
