Located on the 'Park Place' of Telluride, this 4 bedroom/3.5 bathroom home combines history and elegance with comfort and cozy. Originally built in the late 1800's, this home served as the residence for the Telluride mine's physician on the favored sunny side of town. Throughout the years the home has gone through many incarnations--some mild-mannered, some notoriously riotous...and has evolved into an elegant home today.
As you walk through the quiet neighborhood just a block from main street and three blocks from skiing, up the front steps of the Aspen House, the freshly restored wrap-around mahogany deck entices you to enjoy outdoor living... from sitting on the front porch enjoying the morning light over coffee and watching the magical sun rise from behind Ajax peak... to relaxing on the west deck watching the sun go down and the stars come out from the private hot tub secluded from view.
A century later the home, completely remodeled, is graced by the owner's original colorful artworks and eclectic furnishings. On the main floor sunlight streams through nine foot french doors into a large lofted living area. At one end a six foot grand piano awaits talented and gentle hands. To get really cozy, one can cuddle up across the hall in the fully paneled library/media room with the 52' flat screen HDTV, warmed by a corner Victorian gas fireplace.
The kitchen is completely furnished with Fisher Paykel, Thermador, and SubZero appliances, granite counter tops and custom quarter-sawn oak cabinetry. Guests can enjoy coffee in the kitchen bay window nook and check out the action on the ski mountain. A formal dining room furnished with 19th and 20th century antiques and a table for 8 is perfect for gatherings.
A spacious and separate master king bedroom suite with an office loft opens onto the secluded deck and 5 person spa. The master bath has a jacuzzi tub, steam shower, his and hers sinks and a water closet.
On the second level you'll find another master king suite with a private bath and jacuzzi tub (and a cool view). Two more guest rooms (split king and queen) share a double vanity and a full bathroom.
No car is necessary at this lovely vacation rental because it is in the (Quiet) center of town and everything is within walking distance. Off street parking on driveway is available. Top of the Gondola is only a 6 minute ride away on our free Gondola and another 6 minutes to the Mountain Village core, operating from 7am to midnight daily.
