If you are looking for a place close to Bandera yet in the country this 2 bedroom 2 bath home is the place. It is authentic vintage 1940’s Texas western. Located within a mile from Main street Bandera this home is situated on 4 acres and is a quiet and secluded getaway and offers perfect bird & deer watching. The house is loaded with character but has all of the modern amenities and is very comfortable with a restful atmosphere. This home will sleep up to 6 people. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed, the second bedroom has 2 twins, and there is also a fold out sofa bed that will sleep two. The house was built by my grandfather and father as a family vacation lodge in 1947-48. Outwardly it appears much as it did when it was built, but it has all brand new mechanicals, wiring, & plumbing. The large living room has a rock fireplace (wood burning), hardwood floors, finished pine walls and vaulted ceiling, & is decorated with Ranch Oak & W.R. Dallas furniture.
The breezeway with D’Hanis tile floors and large windows looks out onto the wooded property and serves as the dining area. The second bedroom has a western theme with cowboy wallpaper, sheets, and furniture. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, except there is no dishwasher. The home has a security system, covered parking, new central air & heat, satellite TV, a MP3 / Ipod capable stereo AM / FM sound system , CD player, and a washer & dryer, and there is no telephone service but excellent cell coverage. The House features: -King size bed in master bedroom -First bath with glass enclosed shower -Twin beds in second bedroom -Second bath with tub / shower combination -Fold out sofa bed for two -Kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, range top & convection oven, and refrigerator- fitted out with good cookware and appliances -Large living room -Large front porch

Four of us and our cocker spaniel had a great time enjoying the secluded surroundings, lovely weather, and watching the resident deer family outside our picture windows. Took a day drive to Lost Maples Park, Kerrville, and the Old Post Office at Camp Verde nearby. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked with every utensil imaginable, and we grilled steaks outside from the meat market in town. The beds were all comfortable, even the fold-out, and we enjoyed the vintage cowboy furnishings. In all, a great getaway. Thanks!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I loved our stay in the cowboy house. The decor was authentic and nostalgic but not overdone. The accommodations were very comfortable with a variety of spaces to spread out and enjoy the outdoors. We could see deer feeding on the adjoining property in the evenings while sipping wine on the back porch. We had to contact the owner with a minor alarm system problem which he responded to quickly. We look forward to a return visit!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We loved this house. The main living room is something out of a movie. It will take you hours just to take in all of the little details and decor that the owners have obviously worked hard to perfect. We were still noticing cool stuff days in. We had 5 people and there was plenty of room. All of the beds were extremely comfortable, especially the master. Both bathrooms were great too - good showers. We loved the fact that you could close the bedroom area off to the rest of the house (living room and kitchen). The kitchen had everything we needed to make a few good 'ol Texas meals including a great smoker we used to smoke some ribs. They also had a really good sound system that played throughout the house and allowed you to plug your iPod in - good for lots of listening to Willie Nelson and Hank Williams. We also had constant visitors in a family of deer who liked walking around right outside the windows at all times of day. You really feel like you're in a wilderness lodge. I bet this place would be the cosiest home imagninable in the winter. We'll just have to come back and find out!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

What our little family wanted most of all from this getaway was to have some stress-free vacation time that might include a quick trip into Fredericksburg or a hike at enchanted rock, or a drive into Medina for a taste of the best apple pie in Texas. We did manage to leave the house some, but the house was so wonderful (like a step back into the 1960's), we were content to be lazy and play games in the house's atmosphere. We definitely will recommend to others and have decided that our next visit to the house will be in cooler weather so we can take advantage of the beautiful fireplace (and not need to worry about Texas mosquitoes)!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

My son and I had a terrific stay at this sweet house. The decor is fun, and we loved all the beautiful windows. My favorite place was the enclosed breeze way, what a perfect place to kick back and read or play games. Max the owner was so helpful with any questions we had. We'll be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Three words: Attention to Detail! We love all things historic and vintage, so this was right up our alley. But what makes this place unique is that the vintage charm is met with modern comfort and convenience. We especially enjoyed the record player and amazing sound system, the cozy fireplace, the well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Nothing has been overlooked. This is a well-curated retreat full of charm, and we can't wait to return to this hidden gem. And Max, the owner, was super helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

We came to Bandera for Mardi Gras weekend for a "girls weekend" and was pleasantly surprised..... This home is amazing!!!! I was in complete awe from the moment I walked in the door. It is furnished with antique furniture and decor and reminded me of my grandmother's house. The entire house was warm, cozy and very comfortable. Everything was there. It is very obvious that every detail was thought out. From the kitchen to the bath. Very quiet and secluded.....even wood for the fireplace. The house was clean, the location was perfect. The house was exactly like it was described. We have rented several places in Bandera in the past, but this will be the only place we will stay when we visit again in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The anchorage exceeded our expectations. The owner was very helpful before, during and after the rental period. He helped locate local restaurants, grocery stores, and a local church for a Christmas Service. He called during visit to check in and told us how to put out feed for the deer that roam the property. Great visit!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
