Lover level of the home offers a perfect arrangement for entertaining with a well equipped kitchen and large living and dining room with access to the lower lanai. A game room with pool table and wet bar open to the cool and shady fenced in back yard with patio and grill area.

Everything about this house made us feel so at home, so welcome and cared for, so relaxed! When we arrived it was clean, fresh, and inviting, and the rooms are really large! Big kitchen, big living room, big bedrooms, big lanais. This house has a wonderful, open, spacious quality. There is plenty of room for the family to spread out and each one do his/her own thing, yet the house also has a really warm, friendly, family feeling, with many comfortable gathering spaces. The manager, Teri, obviously puts a lot of TLC into the house, and her guests, too. You can really feel the "Aloha." The house is located on Ali'i Drive, about mid-way between La'aloa (Magic Sands) and Kahalu'u. You can go a short distance toward the center of Kailua town for great swimming, body surfing, and sunning at Magic Sands Beach, or you go a short distance in the other direction for fantastic snorkeling. It is also convenient to a couple different farmer's markets, and all the activities in Kailua town, including the many restaurants and shops and some historic and cultural sites. One of the things I enjoyed most about staying here was walking right across the street every morning with my coffee to dip my toes in the tidal pools enjoy the sunshine on the ocean. The house has no glass windows, just screens, so you can enjoy the ocean breezes and the fragrant flowers. I really liked it. You can hear some street noise -- probably true anywhere in the area -- but the location is much less noisy than being in the center of town with all the nightlife. We did not find the street noise obtrusive at all, just noticeable at first. We all slept really well! The house has a very soothing, laid back atmosphere. There is a game room, with a pool table and a bar. With all the spacious rooms and lanais, this house would make a great place for a special family gathering or event.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Centrally located. Far enough away from the tourism in Kailua Village, but still close enough to enjoy (eating at Kona Brewery, Super Js, Boston Basil (for the Big Island Pizza) and Rapanui). Beach access across the street is wonderful for beach combing and gorgeous sunsets (everyday we watched locals get into the water there and go spear fishing). Laaloa (Magic Sands) close by. Walked to Kahaluu several times to enjoy the Honu. House is completely screened in, which my Kupuna couldn't have loved more. The master bedroom was perfect for them, as my Grandma was able to sleep 'inside' while my Kupuna enjoyed sleeping on the lanai. I slept in the front room near Ali'i. A little noisy, in the evenings, but it is so beautiful, it didn't bother me. My mom slept in the back/game room and we had several laughs over the coconuts that fell in the middle of the night onto the roof. There were several televisions, but no one ever turned one on, there was to much to keep busy doing, we also never played pool. The jeweled gecko sunned on the fence and begged for breakfast in the morning out on the lanai. The yard provided most of our breakfast: papaya, coconut and mangos. The farmers market at Ali'i Gardens provided the coffee, bananas and pineapple. We sat every night at the table inside and ate Roselani ice cream to wind down from the day. DON'T MISS CLOSE BY: • Holuakoa Cafe in Holualoa about 20 minutes away, and a nice stroll in their local artist village. • If you go down to Volcano (a two hour drive) stop in Na'alehu at the Flyin' Hawaiian Coffee Truck for the most incredible Ka'u coffee mocha! • Hulihee Palace, the guided tour is worth taking a few minutes out if you have any interest in Kanaka Maoli downtown Kailua Village • Check the calendar to see if Kokua Kailua is going on (music and art festival held every month) • Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (City of Refuge) and St. Benedict's (The Painted Church), just don't go on Wednesday, the cruise ship comes in that day and the tour buses swarm both sites • There are dozens of sacred sites, heiau, holua slides close by that if you are interested in local history Terri was a great host. If we stay again before buying a house, we would definitely stay again, and once we move, I would recommend this house for family to stay in while visiting. Mahalo nui loa.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

Kona was so wonderful and the house was just what we needed. All the screened windows really brought the beautiful feeling inside, and Teri was a wonderful caretaker of the home. The game room really made it great with the teenagers. They were never bored. Thanks so muchRecommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
