Culebra's beaches are gorgeous!
Culebra's beaches are gorgeous!
We stayed for 6 days at Casa Buena Vista (1 couple with 2 teenagers). The house was a perfect size for the four of us. Key features we enjoyed...the breeze, the view (albeit with some utility wires), two full bathrooms, being close to town, laundry machines, outdoor shower for rinsing sandy feet, extras like beach chairs, towels, a cooler, bedrooms with AC. You need to turn the temps down lower than you'd think on the AC units to get it a bit cooler. Having the laundry machines was nice since sometimes the beach towels were a bit too sandy after more than daily use. However, the dryer doesn't automatically turn off. Like all houses, there are some quirks. It might be helpful to have a sheet with a few key things to know. The road and driveway is very steep but we got used to it. The owner was staying in the apartment above but that was no issue. We did use the kitchen quite a bit and it has all the basics. This the first time we have vacationed in a house rather than a hotel and we did enjoy having more space. There is a bit of minor upkeep the house could use - e.g. broken screens taped with masking tape, windows needing cleaning, but it was a fair price for a very decent place. The owner provided directions with how to get there and phoned when it seemed we had left a phone charger behind and offered to mail it. (Wasn't ours.) Regarding Culebra in general...it's a very small place with gorgeous, un-crowded beaches. We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, bicycling, and stand up paddle boarding. It was all facilitated by Kayak Puerto Rico that has a small shop near the airport. They were very accommodating and reasonable. We also took a day trip to Culebrita. Worth the trip if you have the time. Not much choices for restaurants and some were not open. We rented a car from Jerry's Jeep rentals. Some people use golf carts. I would recommend a jeep with the steep inclines and sometimes rustic roads. Overall it was a terrific vacation!

Great home away from home
Great home away from home
If you are coming to Culebra you are already sold on the beaches and coral reef. The house was great, all rooms were as advertised and we straight away felt at home. Kitchen had all the main things that one needs and additionally had some basics that a short term tenant wouldn't want to buy -- cooking oil, salt, and other basic spice were all available. Additionally, the house had a ton of board games and we played scrabble a couple of nights. The owners were very helpful pointing out place off the beaten path that ended up being gems. The house is located about a 5 minute drive from the airport making it centrally located to access all the major beaches and snorkeling spots. The main groceries on the Island are a short 4-5 minute drive. The true gem was a mango tree on the way to the house that supplied us daily with 5-6 mangos that we collected daily from the ground, washed, and put in our cooler when we headed to the beach.

Clean and comfortable stay!
Clean and comfortable stay!
We enjoyed our stay. The house was exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils you might need to make a dinner for you and your friends. Bed were comfortable. Beach towels, coolers, etc were also provided which was great for our days at the beach... The view and the breeze up on the hill were also great. My only complaint has nothing to do with the house itself, but with its location. It is located near the town (which is convenient to markets and restaurants) and this neighborhood leaves a little to be desired. After travelling around the island I now know I might have rather stayed in a more remote (and more picturesque) part of the island. The owners were very nice, and answered all our questions in a timely manner.

My traveling partner and I had a wonderful stay at this property! Stephanie had emailed the map to me prior to reaching the island. It was easy to locate and we were pleased that the property was exactly as it looks. The home was immaculate, comfortable beds, two lovely bathrooms, outdoor shower, lovely porch and great kitchen. Beautiful views! We ate out typically for lunch but would make some dinners and breakfast at the home. This was our first time to Culebra and we enjoyed talking with other visitors as well as natives to the Island. Saw much wildlife, a gigantic iguana on the deck of Mamacita Restaurant! We had rented a jeep (if you can get something smaller I would suggest this as the roads in Dewey are narrow) and so could check out most of the beaches. We found a lovely spot to go snorkeling and saw numerous schools of amazing fish. Our plane out on departure day was not until later and despite it being after "checkout", Stephanie was very accomodating and let us use the house until our departure. We loved the island and the property and hope to return again. Thanks so much, Lynn

We loved our stay
We loved our stay
My family (wife and two daughters) loved our stay. The home was clean, convenient, and comfortable, and the views are pretty amazing. I would definitely recommend. Communication with the owners was a breeze, and we were fortunate that one of the owners happened to be staying in the upstairs apartment (completely unobtrusive) and gave us some insider information about the island. We would definitely go back.

As the other reviewers have said, this house is exactly as described - no trick photography here! The view from the porch is gorgeous, the furniture is comfortable, the beds are comfortable - the roosters are annoying but we turned the AC on at night and closed the shutters and that solved the problem. We rented a jeep from Carlos and his staff was able to show us on their map exactly how to get to the house, a 5 minute ride from the airport. The TV cable box wasn't working when we arrived, and the replacement never came - it wasn't an issue for us because we weren't there to watch TV, but it may be something to confirm if you care about it. The internet worked but was a little spotty, Stephanie explained that the internet box was a little sensitive and indeed my husband had put some clothing on the same small table and probably jostled it. Again, something you may want to check on as Evan did reset it but we were gone by then. The beaches in Culebra are indeed beautiful, I liked Flamenco because there was easy parking and little kiosks that sold food, drinks, etc. The restaurant situation isn't that great, compared to other islands, and I suppose that's because there isn't a huge population to support a variety of restaurants. We went to Susie's, El Eden - both were good but nothing was amazing. We went to Dinghy Dock twice, under new ownership so the menu was limited to soups, salads, and tapas - but everything was good. Zackos Tacos was closed. We went to Mamacita's for lunch (our experience was that it was VERY hard to find someplace to have lunch and the grocery stores are sorely limited in produce - until the next ship comes in apparently). If we came back, we'd definitely stay in this house again, but if you are looking for a private location, you might want to check rentals closer to Zoni beach. We liked this location because it was close to everything, and we found not having a pool or walk-to beach access wasn't a problem at all.

We stayed at Casa Buena Vista for a week and would have stayed longer!! The pictures are exact to the house and it had many hotel-like amenities. The owners go out of their way to help you in any way possible and provide everything you need. The view from the porch is amazing and the overall look of the house is very appealing. The location is also great, since it is halfway to all Culebra has to offer (beaches, restaurants, etc.). We definitely recommend to rent a car or take your own, since the town is walking distance, but the beaches are not. Overall this is a great place to stay when going to Culebra!!!

This home was immaculate, conveniently located, and worth much more than the price to rent. The owners were very helpful and available if we needed them, and the house is actually decorated with their awesome artwork. They also let us extend our stay an extra night, since we loved being there so much. There is AC, a refrigerator, washing machines, a dishwasher, satellite TV, WIFI, a grill, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, couches, even board games for the kids and books for all.. plus a breathtaking view from the front porch. On such a small island, this place really stands out. I don't think I'd get a hotel in Culebra. If/when I go back, I will definitely be looking to go back to this place. Its hard to pick a place when you're looking at pictures and are afraid of feeling dirty. This place was the right choice. Thanks a lot Stephanie and Evan. Looking forward to getting back in touch soon!

We had a great stay at Casa Buena Vista. The house was perfectly clean and the spaces and amenities were exactly as described. The beach towels, beach chairs and coolers were a big plus. The view and the breeze on the balcony were amazing! The driveway is steep, but there are sticks/lights to guide you on your way down. The owner forgot to e-mail us the information on arrival/how to find the place, etc. after booking, but she responded quickly once we contacted her, and we were able to find the place with no problems. Overall, we really enjoyed the house and the beautiful views, and would not hesitate to go back or recommend the place to family or friends.
