  This was our absolute favorite vacation! We brought our girls, 13 & 15, for their spring break trip. We all had a great time. The house was wonderful. It is everything the pictures show and more. We all had our own private areas to sleep. My husband and I took the master bedroom suite with the outdoor shower and the view overlooking the pool and ocean. We awoke at about 6 a.m. the first morning to the most beautiful sunrise which we could see from bed. Our youngest daughter took the smaller sleep area in the main house off the kitchen. Our oldest opted for the dance studio with the Bose sound system. This space also had wonderful breezes coming through the room which made for great sleeping. We also decided to rent the SUV for the week to get around the island. We are glad we decided to go this route. If you choose not to rent a vehicle I'm not sure how you would get around. The house sits atop a very steep hill that is not close to a major road. The only beach near by is Rendezvous Bay. It is within hiking distance but it is not an easy hike. The trail is very steep. It is definitely worth the trip though just plan accordingly. We were able to drive to the grocery store on our own. Katherine took us to the store on the way from the airport. It is very expensive to eat on the island so we wound up staying in and cooking more than going out. Katherine was a huge help. She checked on us everyday to make sure we had everything we needed and answered all of our questions. The animals were all great. They made us feel like we were at home. We have three dogs of our own. Gina, I'm so glad you let Katherine adopt Roxy. She stole our hearts. If I had room in my carry on bag Roxy would be a US citizen right now :) We can't say enough great things about the house and our stay. If you miss this opportunity you've missed one of the best vacation spots ever. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely be back!

• Paradise!

  Our family of 5 spent a week here and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Katherine met us at the airport and led us to the local grocery store to stock up on groceries. We quickly acclimated to driving on the left side of the road and soon arrived at the villa. The villa is located on the side of a hill and provides stunning views of the harbors, beach, and Montserrat. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The pool was the perfect size, crystal clear and the ideal temperature. The breezes at night kept the bedrooms cool and electricity was always available. Wireless internet was also a huge plus. Katherine made sure that we had everything we needed and was a superb hostess. The 3 dogs were like part of our family, never a bother and a joy to have around whether sleeping on the deck at night or hanging out at the pool with us. It was so peaceful and beautiful, that we spent most of our time relaxing at the pool. We ventured out only a couple times to visit English Harbour and Jolly Harbour (for the Adventure Antigua - Extreme Circumnavigation tour) and to replenish our food & drink supplies. We highly recommend Point of View to anyone looking to “get away from it all” and eagerly await returning !

• Amazing Villa

  We loved our week at this villa - the location and views are amazing! We especially enjoyed the wonderful sunsets and sunrises. Katherine was very helpful, and even picked us up from the airport. The dogs definitely made our stay, and really made us feel at home, welcoming us back whenever we ventured out. We did the walk to rendezvous bay, and it took about 45 mins - its not to be underestimated though, and I'd regard it as a hike rather than a walk! When we got there though the amazing deserted beach was definitely worth it. Just to note, we had no issues with hot water or electricity (the property is solar powered, but this was more than adequate), and found the bedroom cool and breezy at night. We would definitely recommend this villa to friends and family.

• Great value in a spectacular setting

  We were struck by the magical view of the ocean and coastline, and the distant Islands. The property offers everything for a reclusive and wonderful stay. The living room and kitchen overlooking the ocean, the pool where we would sip our cocktails to enjoy breathtaking sunsets, and the Master Bedroom overlooking the water, and the sunrises early morning collectively made this a great location in our World journey. Unfortunately, the configuration of the buildings did not maximize airflow, ti reduce the heat and humidity, especially in the Master Bedroom. Since our visit was off-season, it was very hot and humid, and we missed having AC , requiring the fans to be repeatedly deployed, especially at night. We are supportive of green and an echo friendly approach, provided we have the basic comforts. We made a weekly visit to the Epicurean to stock up on groceries, backed up with the occasional visits to Horizons for our meats. We avoided the local market, Baileys, since we found shelf product had often expired. The hike to Rendezvous Beach realistically takes 2 ½ hours one way. We drove to Rendezvous Beach, where the last climb up a steep stoned hill was beyond challenging. Once there, we had the whole beach to ourselves. Some of the restaurants we visited: Cloggy’s (with very good food, great service, nice bar, close, on the water, with a DJ at 9pm); Taste of India (with less than average food – disappointing); Delightful (Chinese, with average food and evidently the best Chinese available); OJs (a great location with great fresh fish daily, a must, for lunch or dinner); Shells (fish and chips, run by Shell from Jamaica, with an off water setting, old double decker English bus on hand, and a hit with kids), Papparazzi (expensive). Pluses: + Breathtaking views and sunsets + Peace and tranquility + Pigeon beach 20 minute drive, weekdays, closest to the property + Excellent value for money + Kitchen utensils, bedding, furniture, Internet, printer complete + Cable TV connection upon our request 1 week after check in at our cost + Housekeeping (Deon) Minuses: No free TV nor cable TV (only DVD) - No AC (missed this especially at night given the heat & humidity) - Electric shortages w/inadequate solar/generator, during some weeks (fans cut out at night) - No hot water in kitchen nor washer, and none some weeks in master bathroom (cold showers only!). - No dishwasher (everything cleaned by hand with cold water) - No beach within walking distance

Most of our guests aren’t with us long enough to notice any issues, so your stay was very helpful to get us geared up for our busy season! I do want to apologize for the hot water issue and wish I had been informed about it sooner than 2 weeks into your stay. I trust you subsequently enjoyed the new hot water heater? I was just there in Antigua and loved it! Quite an improvement, thanks! We also did quite a bit of pruning to allow the air to flow again into the master bedroom. (it actually isn’t the configuration of the buildings…..it was a LOT of garden which had overgrown in a short time with all the rain). Breezy & nice again in the master. Kitchen water heater is working again now too, thanks to you bringing it to our attention. As for power outages, you’ll be pleased to hear we are no longer having that issue. Our house isn’t set up for constant TV watching, which is why we don’t normally have cable. Point of View villa is very unique, and appeals more to people coming to get AWAY from T.V. Otherwise they’d be happier at a hotel. All in all, it was wonderful having you with us, and Katherine and I hope the rest of your travels are GREAT! All the best and Happy New Year! Gina

  Our family of five spent 2 weeks here in early July 2012. We have 3 daughters (10, 13, and 14) and those two weeks at the villa were one of the best vacations we've ever had. The villa itself was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. We spent many days doing nothing but sitting in the sun and playing in the pool. At night we'd BBQ by the pool and enjoy the views of the ocean and watch the yachts slowly sail by. There were days we had to beg our kids to leave and go see the rest of Antigua. Katherine was fantastic and our trip wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable without her advice and guidance (both while we were there and prior to our trip as we asked questions via email). Not only did she make sure we had everything we needed but she helped guide us to great spots around the island and even took our kids to a movie in St. Johns to give us a bit of a break. Once we could pull the kids away to see the island, we got fairly proficient at traveling around Antigua (I'd recommend a 4wd rental) and hit some of the great beaches such as Rendezvous Bay and Half Moon Bay. We spent a morning riding horses down to Rendezvous Bay and into the water (highly recommended) and we also took a catamaran out to Barbuda and spent an afternoon relaxing on the pink sand beaches. We are already planning our next trip to Antigua and will be staying here again as soon as we can schedule it. I can't recommend this place enough.

  My husband and I arrived for a two-week vacation and I ended up staying longer after he had to go back to work! We've been coming to Antigua for 17 years but hadn't tried VRBO until this trip - we feel extremely lucky with this villa selection, and will definitely be back. Point of View is the perfect place to "get off the grid" for a completely relaxing and truly special vacation experience. It was far enough away from everything to feel very private, yet still conveniently close to English Harbor and many of our favorite eating places, beaches, shopping and activities. Definitely rent a 4x4 as the Antiguan roads can be challenging - but we've always found that to be part of the adventure and charm. We love the kind of vacation where we can set our own pace, and do as much as we like, or nothing at all - and I have to admit, there were several days where we simply did not leave the property, preferring instead to lounge around the pool, eat, read and enjoy the incredible view. I can't imagine a more beautiful setting. Katherine and the animals were perfect hostesses, there for our every need, but never obtrusive. We felt very much at home - if only "home" could be like this! Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

  My husband John and I stayed at the Villa for our honeymoon and had the best time...We cannot say enough about the warm hospitality from the caretaker, Katherine. The location is absolutely breathtaking and the pool over-looking the ocean is to die for! We spent many hours laying by the pool and enjoying all that the villa had to offer. We also grilled our own fresh fish one night which was quite fun! Taking a hike to Rendezvous Bay (which you can access just down the driveway) was an exciting adventure that lead us to a remote beach which we had all to ourselves! You can't get that many places in the Caribbean...Thank you to Gina for sharing your beautiful home and giving us the most memorable vacation ever! -Meghan and John Avrett

  What a dream of a place to stay! Nothing can be better than to view each day the exquisite surroundings, beautiful home and the charm and care given by the caretaker, Katherine, who met our every need and helped us in so many ways. The home is perfectly ready for guests with all of the amenities. Breezes during the day coming into each room, and particularly the master bedroom where we kept the doors open to listen to the surf, look at the stars and relax. The owners have made our visit a spectacular memory that our daughters will remember for years to come. Carmela and Smudge, the two dogs, really are also wonderful hostesses and became part of our "extended" family during our stay. Don't pass this villa up if you are looking for that special place to stay in Antigua. We will absolutely return!

  What a paradise! My husband and I can’t say enough about the hospitality we were shown while escaping to this beautiful villa! The sunsets were spectacular, the property beautiful, and really a delight to discover all the special nuances they put into making this place very special. The privacy was fantastic! The master bedroom has the most spectacular view of all…. And that indoor/outdoor tub/shower! AMAZING! We thoroughly enjoyed our early morning sunrises, watching the sun come up over the harbor, and those views of the big ships coming into port were spectacular! The caretaker and owner are both real gems and truly made out trip extra special, helping us navigate before and during our trip! We felt extremely care for. Definitely rent a 4x4 as it is necessary to get around town and navigate the terrain. Papparazzi and Catherines in the slipway are a must for a night out for dinner. We loved getting to know the family pets and made them our own, we miss them already. The late morning swims and late evening stars were very romantic! They won’t be forgotten. If you're extra sweet like I am, bring bug spray and if you're sour, never mind.....they won't eat you... I miss sleeping out in the open air with all the windows and doors open and feeling that wonderful trade-wind breeze… We can’t wait to come back to Antigua and would stay here again and again!

  We had the most wonderful week at this villa. The house is fantastic and secluded enough to allow for alot of privacy. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The bedrooms are wonderful. The Master Bedroom overlooks the water and you can sleep with the doors open. Probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. There is a very romantic and relaxing indoor/outdoor shower in the master bedroom as well. The pool is great as well and overlooks the ocean. This villa allows you to see both the sunrises and sunsets. Antigua claims that the best sunsets are seen from Shirley Heights...that is not true because we went there and the best sunsets are from sitting poolside at this villa. Another thing that made our week so enjoyable was the wonderful and generous help from the owner and caretaker. Their hospitality really helped make it a perfect week.
