My family and I spent a week at the Double Down Ranch. The house was spectacular, very spacious and set up to handle a large group of people. The kitchen was furnished with everything you could need to prepare great meals. The kids loved feeding the horses and fishing. It is a very tranquil setting, feels remote, but is within reasonable driving distance to many hiking trails and other tourist attractions. Elizabeth was very easy to deal with and I believe truly tried to make our stay pleasant and memorable. Definitely a great place to stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Double Down Ranch was absolutely fantastic. The house is spacious, beautifully decorated and filled with everything you will need for any length of time. There is so much to enjoy right on the property. The kids loved being up close to all of the animals. They really enjoyed fishing in the private lake. There are many activities to do in the surrounding areas. We enjoyed horseback riding, gem mining, zip lining, Grandfather mountain, The Biltmore, & Lake James. We had a fantastic trip & made great memories at Double Down Ranch. We would love to come back again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay at Double Down Ranch was a TRUE family vacation. Not only is the property a perfect place for a family get-away...with horses, goats, cats, fish, cattle and 200+ acres to hike, what's not to love...but the ranch home itself is a very special place. We (a family of 5) went with another family of 5 and a family of 3 and had more than enough room! The house is warm and inviting in design. And as if all that was not enough, we had cornhole, games, movie, music and the best part...bonfires and s'mores! The location is perfect for day trips to Asheville and Lake James but we never left the property! A truly specal vacation and we will be back.Did you find this review helpful? The Double Down Farm is absolutely gorgeous. The farmhouse is spacious, yet feels cozy and comfortable. It feels way off the beaten path, yet it is only 10 minutes from Interstate 40. It would be a wonderful place for a family reunion, or a couple's getaway. It is close to many mountain attractions, such as Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, and not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway. But there is no reason to go anywhere, as it is a great place to just walk around or go fishing in the pond. We love to pet the horses. Just pet one, and the others come wandering up. I like to sit on the porch and soak it all in. My family and I have stayed here on other occasions, and it is always clean and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family spent Labor Day weekend with other family friends and their children at Double Down Ranch. I must say it was hands down the best family vacation we have ever had. Each morning we would start the day by looking at the amazing scenery that surrounds the ranch. We then would take all the children to the barn and spend hours feeding, grooming, and "hanging out" with the horses, donkeys, and adorable cats. In the afternoons we enjoyed following the trails by foot or by bike, swimming in the pond, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, playing "baggo" on the deck, relaxing on the hammock...the list goes on and on. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting on the fabulous deck and looking up at the stars or sitting around the amazing campfire, cooking smores, and listening to music. Double Down is perfect for really anyone of any age. There are so many activities for all different age groups and interest levels that it is the perfect place to be. My husband and I cannot wait to go back again. We made so many wonderful memories there. Our weekend at Double Down Ranch was idyllic. I truly did not know that such a place existed!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities.

What a surprise! We could tell this was a nice property, but had no idea we would really have the run of the entire Double Down Ranch. The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful views and the character of the house. We had planned this week with our 4 teenagers as a vacation with our families arriving later in the week for our wedding in Asheville. Within minutes of arriving, my bride-to-be decided we were moving our wedding to Double Down! The house was perfect for our needs with an awesome Living Room, Kitchen and Dining Areas. We were impressed with how well the house was stocked with everything we needed, especially the kitchen accessories. We are anxious to return later this year to enjoy the huge fireplace. Everyone (especially the kids) enjoyed the Cornhole game on one of the large decks. We didn't realize for several days that we didn't even watch TV for the entire trip! Thank you Elizabeth for all your hospitality!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family has stayed Double Down several times and will be returning in the future. Everything is A+ and as discribed. We took Kayaks and had a blast paddling the 8 acre lake. We caught so many fish we quit counting Crappie, Bass and Bream. The house is beautiful and has a great view of the mountians. You can't even hear car, it is a very secluded location. This is the perfect place for a family reunion.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
