A gorgeous Provence-style garden retreat in the center of everything!
Come stay in a charming two bedroom flat in San Francisco's hippest neighborhood. This gorgeous, Provence-inspired apartment is relaxing and private and features a large garden and hot tub, but just outside the doors the lively city awaits. The building is a great San Franciscan Edwardian, VERY centrally located on 18th street between Sanchez and Noe. You'll be 2 blocks down from Castro Street and 2 blocks up from Dolores Park. The hip Castro neighborhood is safe, friendly and full of restaurants, nightlife, interesting stores, and it even has it’s own 1920’s movie palace. There are stops for buses, Muni trains, cable cars and the BART (underground train system) all within blocks of the house. The Mission district is down the street and Noe Valley is just over the hill. It is an 8 block walk to the Valencia street restaurants, shops and nightlife.
House Details:
The house has vintage French flair, with lots of antique furniture and hardware that we scored while cruising Paris's open-air markets. 2 bedrooms plus a queen sleeper sofa sleep 6. The master bedroom has an incredibly comfortable memory foam king bed, and french doors that open onto a small private deck. The front bedroom has a full-sized pillow-top bed in a French antique wrought iron bed frame, a reading nook, and faces the street. Both bedrooms have huge closets. The queen-sized sleeper sofa has a down pillowtop mattress. The full bath has a tub and shower. We designed and stocked the kitchen with the serious chef in mind, with all kinds of pots, pans, spices and implements. The kitchen is large and open, with a gas stove, dishwasher, and custom oak cabinetry. The kitchen opens right into the sunny, garden-facing living room. The living room has a sleeper sofa, working fireplace, bay window, and opens onto a large, private redwood deck overlooking the garden and hot tub.
Brand New and Custom Built:
The entire house was just completely renovated, with new floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and appliances, and new central heating. All of the cabinetry was custom built for the space by a local cabinet maker, doors and windows are salvaged antiques, and the hardware and furniture are vintage finds. We have a 42' (107cm) flat-screen TV with cable TV, DVD player, and high speed wireless internet. There are no stairs to climb, and secure, off-street bicycle parking is available. The house has no garage, but street parking is 2 hour permitted parking in front of the house, and free weeklong street parking is available a few blocks away.
Amenities Include:
*Private access to the entire apartment
*Hot Tub
*Private Redwood Deck
*Large Garden
*Wireless Internet and 42' (107 cm) widescreen TV with free cable
*Full Kitchen with dishwasher
*In-house laundry
*2 blocks from Dolores Park
*2 blocks from Castro Street
Please note you may encounter a small (15 lbs), friendly dog in the backyard, but there are no pets in the apartment itself. Also, you'll need to sign a simple waiver to use the hot tub once you check in. Thanks.
Guests over the age of 3 are welcome, but unfortunately we cannot host guests under that age.

My friends and I spent nearly a week in wine country and decided to extend the trip in San Francisco. With so many options of where to stay, we decided to do VRBO so that we had a kitchen and also so that we could spread out more than in a typical hotel room. All enjoying the outdoors, we opted for the Castro Garden House so that we could spill into the back yard if the weather was good, and it was, and we did! The first thing that struck us was that everything was very fresh, clean and new. The decor is French Country without being too shi shi. The kitchen was perfect and we spent our non-touristy time cooking together and were able to gather our provisions from the Bi-Right grocery store and deli, which is simply amazing. The Garden House is accessible from both the Castro Muni and the Mission BART which was perfect for getting out and about the city as well as to the airport. That all said, what we really appreciated was that out the front door was the hustle and bustle of the Castro and Mission districts and out the back door was a wonderfully quiet garden. Simply the perfect combination.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, girls getaway.

My wife and I visited San Francisco with her two sisters in early March and had a great stay at the Castro Garden House. The space was perfect for the four of us, and we could have even had more people stay as the couch in the living room pulls out. Perfect location (easy walks to the Mission, a couple of blocks to Delores Park, minutes to everything in the Casto, and a couple of blocks to the J), perfect set-up for four people, and good base to explore a great city. Even more importantly, Jordan was a great hostess. She was helpful in answering questions during the booking process, and even popped by to say hello as we were having a gathering of friends in the back garden one evening. She also spotted that I had yet to recieve my security deposit back, which was something I had completely overlooked and was very thankful for her honesty. Next time we head to San Francisco we will certainly be hoping the Garden House is available! Thanks again, JeffRecommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing.

2500 characters won't be adequate to describe how fantastic this flat was. The Garden House is the ground floor of a beautifully restored Victorian in the heart of The Castro. It is spacious, light, bright and beautifully decorated with vintage touches of Paris throughout. The bedrooms are large, light, soothing and beautifully decorated. The beds are comfy with high thread count linens. The master overlooks a tiny garden -a very sweet use of space. We opened the french doors at night and let the heavenly cool breezes lull us to sleep. Ideal sleeping conditions. The bath while small was designed to optimize the space. The heavenly shower provided very hot and steamy water that was essential after a day of walking in the city. It too is supplied with oversized fluffy high thread count towels. The gourmet kitchen has literally anything/everything you could need. While we only used it for breakfast and cocktails if you wanted to cook full meals you can easily do so. The kitchen is not just highly functional it is lovely with glass front cabinetry displaying a lovely assortment of pretties and books. The comfortable living room hosts a fireplace, large tv and comfy couch. It spills out onto a cozy deck with table and chairs. The perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and happy hour. The deck overlooks a fabulous garden with flowers and plants most of which we had never seen before. I wish I could have taken the tree with gorgeous purple blooms home with me. We spent a good deal of time enjoying the cool breezes here-a truly lovely spot. What can I say? We left little pieces of our hearts not only in SF but in this lovely little piece of heaven. Jordan, the owner was delightful and wonderful to work with, infinitely patient, and we had the pleasure of meeting her while there. She even invited us to her July 4th celebration! The Castro is a vibrant, eclectic, beautiful neighborhood. We saw many of the neighborhoods in SF and felt this one was the most lovingly cared for one that we saw. Cabs were plentiful and public transportation was only a few blocks away. Also a few blocks away was a fantastic grocery Mollie Stone's. We found interesting places to shop and eat in The Castro. We are from a small town in the deep South and not once did we feel unsafe or uncomfortable. When we visit SF again, and we will, this will be our 1st choice. Jordan thank you so much for your hospitality and for sharing your lovely home with us. Had such a great time staying here for a weekend with a few girl friends. It's in the perfect location -- walking distance to everything or a cheap cab ride. I would definitely recommend this to friends who are looking for a great place to stay in San Francisco.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My girlfriends and I spend 3 wonderful nights at this lovingly restored Victoria home. On the first night, one of our local friends stopped by and remarked that this is one of the best restored Victorian home he's been to. The living room and kitchen were so cozy that we decided to have take-out on our 2nd night and enjoy the setting. The beds are comfortable and luxurious, which made it a little bit hard to get out of bed each morning. Despite visiting in February, the backyard was lush, green and perfect for a quick morning breakfast. The owner, Jordan, was able to provide us with a plethora of information prior to our arrival, making our trip planning easy. The unit is within walking distance to restaurants (Poesia, Frances, Kasa, just to name a few), wine shops, bars, coffee houses, bus lines, Muni. We loved our stay and wished we stayed longer!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

I am writing this reivew not necessarily because I have stayed at the vacation rental, but more so to speak about the awesome host/owner of the rental, Jordan. I requested to stay at the rental but due to a previous guest extending their stay, Jordan was unable to accomodate my request. However, she went out of her way to help me find other rentals in San Francisco by emailing me different rental listings and even suggesting neighborhoods to stay in and places to eat, ect. I was so impressed by Jordan's kindness and willingness to help that I will definately contact her in the future for her rental.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A fantastic find. The apartment was exactly as described except it looked even bigger and brighter than in the pictures. The kitchen and living room go right out onto a big deck and garden, and we ate breakfast out there every day. The place was as clean and comfortable as a fancy hotel but a much more personal and fascinating way to see the city. This apartment really is in the center of town! We were planning to get a car but never needed it – There were so many great restaurants and shops nearby, and we could walk or bus to everything in the city easily. Jordan was a wonderful host – friendly, on call 24/7, and even got us dinner reservations on a Saturday night! She met us at the apartment with wine waiting for us, and it was fantastic to sink into the hot tub with a glass after a long flight. She had so many things arranged to make our stay great – maps, guidebooks, restaurant advice, and extras of everything we might need like laundry detergent and toothpaste. I’m definitely staying here on my next visit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I have stayed in several airbnb apts. throughout the U.S., and this was by far my best experience. The apt. has been recently renovated from the studs up, and it was an absolute delight. The apt. is well appointed, uncluttered, has lots of light, comfortable beds, and plenty of room. Jordan is a wonderful host - she is helpful, informative, and unobtrusive. The area is fabulous as well - vibrant, sophisticated, near great restaurants, central to all parts of the city, close to transportation. I can't say enough positive things about this apt. and its host.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

About the owner: Hi, I'm Jordan, and welcome to our home. Even as a child, I designed houses. I've always wanted to buy an old Victorian and restore it with my family. In 2008, my dream came true, and my family and I bought and renovated the 1907 house in the Castro that you see here. My father Calvin and I restored the house, and my mother Carmen designed and planted the gorgeous garden. It's been magical working with this building, and I hope everyone can come and see this great house and experience my beloved neighborhood. I'm also fortunate to have traveled the world, and have met so many great folks along the way. I'm excited to welcome fellow travelers into our home!
