The view from the upper deck was amazing, as was the large hot tub. A few things did not work very well in the apartment (one stove burner, unable to make the shower have any hot water - despite the faucets having hot water); otherwise, it was a beautiful weekend getaway.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hi Kate, We are so surprised about the problem with the shower since you did not notify us or tell Amie when you saw her during your stay and this review is the first we've heard about it. It was a 5 minute fix on the shower and it is upsetting to us that you went without a hot shower. We encourage you and any guests staying here or anywhere that you speak up. We are here to make your stay the best possible and are happy to address any issues should they arise. The house was originally built in 1906 so there are things that happen from time to time like with anyplace. It's good to know that the rest of your weekend made up for it and you enjoyed your stay. Please come again and enjoy a hot shower too! Kind regards, Gillian & Guy

The perfect spot for New Year's in Stinson
The perfect spot for New Year's in Stinson

My wife, who is from the area, and I got married in Stinson, and like the procrastinator I am, I put off booking a house for my groomsmen and myself until the last minute. Shouldn't have worried at all, though: we ended up with this fantastic spot just up the hill. The house itself is spacious but still cozy and in beautiful shape, catching the perfect light in the mornings in the bedrooms. Plus the deck is a wonderful spot to just hang out, eat, and look out over the ocean. Our whole weekend was a blast, thanks in no small part to the house.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Evan, Again, congratulations on your marriage! We are so happy to have contributed to success and enjoyment of you New Years celebrations! Please return with your lady for a romantic getaway sometime! Kindly, Gillian & Guy

We stayed here with my parents and 2yo son...and the house was comfortable for everyone! Great location for little ones (and folks who may not want to walk long distances or up hills)...directly across from the beach and practically next door to groceries and spots to eat. Gillian and Guy were friendly and welcoming. The house is clean and peaceful...great hot tub and outdoor shower. Lots of spots outside to relax. The house was larger than I expected from the photos and very very comfortable. (And I recommend the homemade donuts from Parkside!)Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We are so happy that you had such a great time on your trip to Stinson and during your stay at our place. Thank you for such a nice review. Please come back again! All the best.... Guy & Gillian

About the owner: We enjoy traveling and moving around but we always love coming back to our home in Stinson Beach. For Guy, growing up here was so amazing and gave him a child hood full of discovery and a place to fuel his imagination as well as an appreciation for nature which has carried through to adulthood. Still building sand castles and hiking the woods. When you come to stay, we hope you will enjoy yourself like we have for many years and take with you memories that last a lifetime. Stinson has given me so much that I never expected. Being a warm climate, desert native, I would never have thought to seek out this amazing place to live. I am so happy that joining forces with Guy has brought so many beautiful new places and experiences into my life. Please come and see what this cozy little beach town with the biggest beach you.'ll ever walk has to offer you!
Why the Owner Chose Stinson Beach:
After many years in Ojai, CA, we decided to move back to Guy's childhood home full time to slowdown and enjoy life a little more day to day. Now we have a daughter and it is a wonderful, safe place to raise children.
We have decided to offer part of our property as a vacation rental for the first time which helps us out while we lovingly restore this 1906 beach shack into the gem it deserves to be! Guy is a craftsman by trade and when you stay here, you will see his hand in every detail. My design back round and Guy's ability to do just about anything in building are the compliments that have created this space. We pride ourselves in using as many sustainable and recycled materials as possible. As well, we use NO-VOC paints and non-toxic chemicals for a healthy and happy environment.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Nothing beats waking and falling asleep to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach. We love being so close and walking to town or popping back and forth to the beach during the day. Our property is the best of all worlds, private, central, and great ocean views in the warm banana belt of Stinson.
