An authentic taste of Portugal tucked away in the central mountains. Entertainment, family, cooking, and drinking are staples to the Portuguese lifestyle. Our home includes a gourmet kitchen, 3 furnished bedrooms and 3 bathrooms which is large enough for all your family and friends. Our home comes fully furnished with all the necessities to be comfortable including linens, towels, blow dryers, kitchen ware & utensils, laundry detergent, and more. The master suite has an attached sitting room and bathroom. There is a washer/dryer in the basement along with another bathroom.
Take a long stroll around the property or relax in the living room, either way you can absorb the beautiful grounds surrounding our house.
Our house is just a few hours drive from some major tourist locations. View the stunning flora in the summer or snow in the winter of the highest mountain range in the country, Serra da Estrela. Castelo Branco is about an hour south of Fundao (the city we are located in). The Jardim Episcopal is a beautiful historic garden area with a statue lined stairway of the Apostles. Make a day trip out to Monsanto, a town that in 1938 was voted "the most Portuguese village in Portugal". This quaint town was built among a granite hillside with homes blended into the stone, it offers beautiful views and a unique look into a very different way of life. The Torre de Belem in Lisbon (2.5hrs from Fundao) was built as a fortress in 1515 and the nearby Monument to Discoveries is lead by Henry the Navigator. In the north, is the must see town of Vila Nova de Gaia. This hub of the Port industry offers cave tours and tastings of some of the most famous ports of the world.

Owner info
About the owner: I was born and raised in Portugal where I attended Hotel School. I was a head waiter for Sitmar Cruises for many years before moving to San Francisco. In SF I was a waiter at Ernie's and Le Central Restaurant. I then bought the Grubstake Restaurant, and introduced Portuguese dishes on the menu. I always wanted to have a B&B, I am now pursuing that dream with my wife, Marivone and our daughter Sammy in California, USA. Marivone was born and raised in central Brazil. We share a passion for cooking and entertainment and welcome visits to all of our homes. I am fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
Why the Owner Chose Fundao:
Having been born and raised in Portugal, it was only natural for me to want a second home near my family.
