We really loved this place! It's simply gorgeous at this location and the cottage itself is perfect. Everything was so clean and was constructed with very high end features. Me and my husband couldn't have been happier. The hosts Deb and Eric are really great and so helpful. They had fresh picked fruit waiting on the counter along with their own grown Kona coffee, and homemade pineapple cake!. We really loved it there and wish we could have stayed longer! Nice bays and a small beach nearby to enjoy. Eat at Rebels downtown, really good food, not too expensive. Love love love it here !Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

The owners Deb and Erik were very welcoming and helpful. The cottage was in a quiet location, tastefully furnished, and was equipped with everything needed. It was close to Place of Refuge, Kona Living Coffee Farm, and Daifukuji Soto Zen Mission. We particularly enjoyed eating at the local institutions such as Teshima’s and Manago Hotel.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

The pineapple patch cottage was perfect for our week long stay on the Big Island. It had all the amenities we could use and Deb and Eric were extremely hospitable, providing us with fresh fruit and goodies when we arrived, loads of tips on sights to see, out of the way gems and plenty of space to just relax and unwind. The Kealakekua Bay area has plenty to do, especially if you enjoy good snorkelling, while also being located to easily get to many areas of the island. We had a great time staying at the cottage and getting to know Eric and Deb, Prada, Humphry and Mommy too. Would stay there again in an instant and would highly recommend it to others !!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was a real pleasure having you both stay. And we are so glad you felt at home and comfortable. We hope to see you again. Mahalo, Debbie and Erik

We stayed at the Pinapple Patch Cottage for one week, enjoyed the serenity peaceful setting. The cottage is a little out of Kona, but worth the quietness of the setting. Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful clean place. I gotta say, the bed was awesome slept like a dream. The owners were quiet and enjoyable.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

The cottage was perfect for a wonderful vacation on the island of Kona. It was spotless with everything you would possibly need: beach towels, cooler, snorkeling gear & boogie boards It was better than described. The location is ideal for touring around the island. Erik & Debbie were very warm, genuine and welcoming hosts, providing lots of information for our tour of the island. Debbie’s cookies were delicious as well as the fruit that she left for us. Our stay here was a very pleasant and unbeatable experience. We will stay here for sure on our next trip to Kona. Thanks again Debbie and Erik.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It was our first trip to the Big Island and we were so happy to have picked Pineapple Patch for our stay. I read all the reviews before booking and they were all right! The location was great for what we wanted to do (touring and snorkelling) and now that I have been there, I'm glad it was a little away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town. The cottage is just gorgeous- spotless and very comfortable. Much thought and care has been put in by Erik and Debbie to provide all the necessities plus more. I was initially a bit worried about the size because of a bad experience on the North Shore of Oahu but Pineapple Patch Cottage is very roomy and perfect for a couple. In fact, we loved our stay so much that we have already booked our second visit! Thank you Debbie & Erik and see you again this year.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We really enjoyed having you and are really happy that you had a great stay with us. We want all our visitors to have a really wonderful stay. Mahalo, Debbie and Erik

When looking for a place to stay on Hawai'i Island, we wanted to stay in a vacation rental even though it was our first time doing so. We picked Pineapple Patch Cottage based on the location and stellar previous reviews. I can truly say that the Cottage did not disappoint! Being that it's located in Captain Cook, you're within a quick drive of the commerce of Kailua-Kona, the tranquility of Kealakekua Bay and the best laulau in Hawai'i at Super J's Authentic Hawai'ian Food. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, immaculate and more than spacious enough for two. With a fully-equipped kitchen, it was easy for us to save money by cooking at the cottage instead of eating out all the time. Grilled fish and pineapple, anyone? Erik and Debbie were gracious hosts, full of great ideas of what to see and where to dine. The cottage is located on a mango farm, so on a handful of occasions we returned "home" to find freshly-picked mangoes waiting for us. The tasty Kona coffee was a welcome touch too! Wonderfully enough, my boyfriend and I became engaged while in Hawai'i and are already hopeful that we'll be celebrating our honeymoon back at Pineapple Patch Cottage. Mahalo, Erik and Debbie, for one of the best weeks of our lives!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Debbie and Erik were so welcoming and the pineapple cottage is just as pictured! They had a welcome basket of fruits and brought us the largest mango we had ever laid eyes on ;) When the tsunami warnings went off we were a little scared and confused at first but they welcomed us into their home for wine and chit chat until the alarms stopped. The cottage is relatively small but for a couple it is great and has a very cozy feel. The place comes with an outside grill and it was a treat being able to lounge outside and grill steaks for dinner while drinking a few cold ones as the sun set. As far as location goes it was a very central point for a lot of nearby attractions. Only a few miles away are multiple locations for great snorkeling, with Honaunau Bay and Kealakekua Bay. Also nearby is a very cute downtown shore side area with great dining and shops to buy souvenirs. The place was great and our hosts even better, at the price offered it was a steal. Hopefully in the future my fiance and I will find a place like their home for ourselves! Thanks for everything! -Stephannie and StephenRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was the perfect place for my vacation. I'm so glad that I stayed there. After long days out adventuring around the island, it was perfect to come home to the coziness of this cottage. The bed was so comfy and the cottage had everything I needed. I felt more like a niece staying with Debbie and Erik than a "customer". They were wonderful hosts. Debbie brought over some fresh fruit (Mango, yum!), Kona Lime Cake (double Yum!), and helped me with ideas on what I could do nearby. Of course, the fridge was stocked with water and cookies! It was perfect, a home away from home really. The island was so beautiful and I know my experience was made even better because I stayed in the Pineapple Patch Cottage!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My daughter and I rented the Pineapple Patch Cottage and absolutely loved it! The owners are so right about location, location! It is close to the Kealakekua Bay where we spent a lot of our time kayaking and snorkeling around Captain Cook's monument, (an area with FABULOUS snorkeling!) The cottage is super clean, has a comfortable bed, and nice quality touches throughout. The owners are great--I can't rave enough about them... so friendly, helpful, and made us feel so relaxed & comfortable. They provided fresh, delicious mangoes & limes, plus other treats which we couldn't resist! They provide tour books, beach towels & gear, so no need to bulk up your suitcase with those heavy items. The cottage also has an outdoor shower head to rinse off the salt water and sand, with hot and cold water --- Ahhh, much better than the chilly ones at the beaches. We enjoyed our stay & would definitely recommend this lovely cottage rental.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I traveled to Hawaii for the first time and couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to stay than the Pineapple Patch Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and very clean and comfortable…… exactly like the photos. Our hosts, Debbie and Eric are very hospitable, warm and generous. Debbie’s lemon cake is delicious as are the mangoes and papaya that she left for us on several occasions. We toured the Big Island for 11 days and were always happy to return to our peaceful cottage at night. There’s so much to do and see on the island and we’d love to return some time! Thanks so much Debbie and Eric!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Husband and I were celebrating anniversary and were lucky enough to pick the Pineapple Patch Cottage in Kealakekua Bay for our vacation! Upon arrival the cottage was extremely clean, the towels and linens were top grade and there were goodies and water in the refrigerator for us....nice touches! We were minutes away from great snorkeling at The City of Refuge and also close to the bay area where we took advantage of great shopping, sightseeing and entertainment...don't miss LT Smooth at Huggo's! The cottage was more than what we had anticipated....can't recommend it enough!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just loved to stay at the pineapple patch! Everything is absolutely high quality, perfectly clean and very well equipped. It was such a great experience to see a place like this, with all the fruit trees, flowers and animals! We were so excited about the turkey family visiting us during our breakfast; they were so funny we always hoped for them to come back. Debra brought us fresh fruits from the farm and homemade cup cakes; by the way, they were really good, thank you so much! We also liked the box with all the beach equipment, there was everything you might need for a perfect day at the beach. Thank you Debra for the hint that you have the Big Island Revealed Guidebook, for that we have seen so many interesting spots on the island. We were so glad that we decided to do the kayak trip to the Cook monument to snorkel. If we ever go back to Hawaii, we will definitely stay at your place again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We recently spent six nights at the Pineapple Patch Cottage. There were so many special "extras" that made our stay memorable. Debra had left homemade cookies, fruit grown on their property and Portuguese buns and butter for us. Beach towels and chairs, snorkel gear and a travel cooler were provided for our use. The cottage was immaculate and comfortable in every way with much attention to detail. Erik and Debra are gracious hosts. They had thought of everything that we may need including an excellent travel book and CDs of Hawaian music. The location is outstanding for exploring the west side of the Island. We spent our days discovering the area and our evenings sitting on the patio enjoying the sunsets and the peaceful beauty of their farm. We recieved exceptional quality for our money, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this spot to friends and family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My second stay here at the cottage and I was glad to be back. Very quiet, clean and comfortable. If you like to have good sleeps on a super comfortable bed, and hear the birds chirping instead of the sound of trucks and cars roaring by, this is the place for you. The cottage is furnished with top quality bed, linens, TV and appliances. A great, private spot to both start and end your day ! You can always pay double and stay closer to Kailua-Kona, but you still won't match the quality of the accommodations here. Mahalo, Eric and Deb, see ya next year !Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had the good fortune of staying at the pineapple patch cottage earlier this month. It was our first VRBO experience and will be hard to live up to. Erik and Debbie were great hosts (even though due to our busy schedule we didn't get to see them much)! They were very helpful with the few things we did need and were extremely accomdating when we were able to arrive a day early (thanksfully the cottage was being vacated that day! We enjoyed the fresh fruit that was left for us as well as the local things to do fliers and the Valentines Day goodie bag. It was exciting to return home each evening to see what might be awaiting us on the patio table. We also enjoyed the amenities, especially the wonderfully big and soft beach towels, as well as the chairs, cooler and umbrella. A much appreciated extra we never really thought about before. The only negative about our stay was having to leave! Due to late plan making on our part we had to stay in a hotel in Kailua for our remaining nights. Boy was it a let down! We would stay here again in a heart beat and would have no issues with recommending it to friends and family. In fact, we already have! It is a great romantic spot close to lots of great beaches, a bit out of town (but we enjoyed that) and definitely a place we would stay again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent 3 perfect days and nights in the Pineapple Patch Cottage. Everything about the property, the location and the owners was wonderful. The location is quiet and stunningly beautiful, close to the kayak and snorkeling activities in Kealakeaua Bay, and also to Kona. The studio and bathroom are furnished with very high quality bed, linens, towels, etc, and very nice extras like the CD palyer with hawaiian guitar CDs. Debbie and Eric went above and beyond in their welcome; we arrived on our 20th anniversary, and Debbie had left us a bottle of wine and homemade brownies! I will defintely recommend this property to friends, and we hope to return ourselves.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed for 9 nights, from Jan 24th, 2012, and had a great time. The location is super, esp. if you like to snorkel, as it is almost directly up hill (though it's a few miles up hill) from the best snorkeling on the Big Island. (snorkeling at: 2-step, and the Cook monument). Erik & Debbie (owners) were great hosts, and have lived on the island for 20 years...you can get plenty of information from them both. The cottage was spotless, NO road noise at all, and everything in the cottage worked fine. The only noise I recall, was the occasional drop of a avacado, onto the driveway, or an occasional rooster, in the morning...a family of wild turkeys ventures through, once in a while as well (they are very quiet...and that tom bird keeps a very close eye on his hens!). Virtually everything is new, in the cottage! The driveway is steep...but then they all are in this area, so don't freak out, when you first see it. Within 2- 3 days you will completely forget about it. The property is very well kept...Erik is a man after my own heart...I too like to keep my home and yard well kept. The cottage is approx. 17-18 miles (south) of the airport, I would guess. Highway traffic gets a little heavy usually only around 4pm, but even at it's worse, the drive too and from central Kona, never took more than 30 min. There's a grocery store about 1 mile south, from the turn-off of Rt. 11, and there are plenty of stores as well in Kona. Also, there's a laundrymat, maybe 3 miles north on Rt. 11, on the west side of the road. We would not even hesitate to stay there again. Almost forgot! No need to rent snorkel fins, Erik and Debbie have a varity of fins (sizes), a beach umbrella, beach chairs, and a cooler. We used all of this...and everything looked to be brand new. You might be able to find a better deal than this...but you'd have to look very very hard. That's what we think, anyway. Thanks again Erik and Debbie.....hope the cottage is available next winter as well. Bill & SheriRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Aloha Bill and Sheri, Mahalo for your great review. We enjoyed your stay with us and would love to see you next year! Sincerely, Debbie and Erik

I picked Pineapple Patch because I was looking for a good deal after being "stuck" in Hawaii an extra week. It was the best deal I could find for my beloved bay triangle area of south Kona....I was so very pleasantly surprised! This is an absolutely gorgeous lil' studio Ohana, with lots of great high end touches. It is tastefully decorated, contains all the amenities that one might need for a vacation, and there is an immense feeling of serenity and peace on the property. The bed is soooooo comfy!!! And the full sized bathroom was awesome as well. Eric and Debi were very sweet and kind and accommodating. I highly recommend Pineapple Patch!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I have stayed in many VRBOs, including several in the Captain Cook area, but the Pineapple Patch Cottage exceeded all my expectations and is a real gem. The property is extremely well constructed, immaculately clean and meticulously maintained. The hosts, Eric and Debbie, are friendly and most helpful in providing useful tips on activities and restaurants in the area. Although the unit itself does not have an ocean view, its position on Napoopoo Road is centrally located for all activities in the Captain Cook/Kealekekua Bay/Honaunau areas . I have no qualms in recommending this cottage to anyone looking for a superiour experience in Captain Cook.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
