We absolutely LOVE this home. We have enjoyed staying here over the years with and without our children. This is a great, well supplied home, that is decorated with a warm cabin feel. It has everything you need, bring clothes and food and your set. Each room feels like home, the views are great on each side of the balcony, the peace allows for serenity and the access to the little beach and Marina are within walking distance. When the weather is cold, stay in, it's so comfy it makes you feels like you don't want to do anything!! Fireplace, games, movies and internet if you even want to go there, everything you need! We can't wait to come back this summer.

What attracted us to the property was primarily the opportunity to take our two large dogs with us on vacation. We always hate having to kennel them for the longer trips, so it's great when we can do a quick local getaway and have them with us. Amy's property is completely fenced in with a 6 foot high chain-link fence, and is the size of a good-sized dog park. The dogs were able to get out to the yard through either a sliding glass door onto the deck or by leaving the front door open. We also found the house to be very relaxing. We enjoyed being on the North side of the lake, away from the main hustle and bustle, but close to a couple of cute restaurants and shops. Amy is very responsive to your needs and was available to help us before, during and after our stay.

Perfect place for the perfect weekend! We booked the cabin for an annvs. And ended up bringing friends and family with us. The cabin was wonderful, Amy has done a great job of providing all of the creature comforts we are all used to, and so much more. We didn't have to do or buy anything except for groceries and the kitchen has everything you need. The cabin was full of fun things to do, from games to darts to even Fooseball. The cabin is decorated so lovely and everything was very comfortable and warm. Our only issue was that although the yard is perfect for dogs (we brought our two shepherds) there is no easy access for people to get out to it. I wish there were stairs off the deck or even out on the side yard. If there was snow, I think it would prove to be very difficult to get down the slope. As it was a bit trecherous without any weather. Other than that , we have no complaints and would LOVE to stay there again. Can't wait to get back there! (Footnote: Amy, the owner was terrific to work with!)

We were very pleased with our stay. We were able to relax and have all the modern conveniences. While staying there we ventured out to big bear snow play. We enjoyed that just wish it wasn't so crowded. The owner was very friendly and available to help and answer any questions. Would definitely stay again and recommend this cabin.

My friends and I stayed at the great Elk's Escape for almost a week. Amy (the owner), was very responsive to all our needs/concerns. When we had a question, Amy was always there to assist via phone/messaging; our concern was her concern. The cabin is well equipped with pots and pans, condiments, seasoning, coffee maker, and soo much more. Everything described on VRBO was there, and much more! Sleeping arrangement accommodated the nine of us comfortably, and the interior of the home is well decorated, every section of the home had unique features of a cabin feel. We enjoyed most of our stay in the great living room area. Amy keeps a great variety of board games and family trivia games for all ages. Overall, I would recommend a small family or group of friends to stay at this cabin, you got a newly decorated home for an affordable price and best of all, Amy's full support from the start of your trip to the very end! THANK YOU AMY!!!

My family and our friends truly enjoy our New Year's weekend at the cabin. Amy, the owner, was very responsive and absolutely nice from the very beginning. Upon our arrival, the house was ready even though there were other guests checking out on our arrival date. The house is cozy, nicely decorated, the kitchen is fully stocked, there were plenty of extra blankets and linens. The beds were very comfortable. Our kids enjoy playing snowballs in the backyard. We all had a really great time thanks to Amy!!! We are definitely planning to return!!!!! NK

For the past 7 years, each October my husband and I have stayed for an extra long weekend to relax in the mountains and celebrate Oktoberfest. Now with a 3 year and 6 month old, the two bedroom cabin we had been renting in the past was feeling cramped. We wanted to try Fawnskin and after a 5 day stay in Amy's cabin we are SO glad we did! Amy was fantastic to deal with, even offering an extra free night because we booked in advance. Checkin/checkout was easy and went smoothly. The large fenced yard was great and we spent more time on the deck out back relaxing, playing and feeding the many woodpeckers and stellar jays that visited for a peanut then inside! We enjoyed roasting marshmallows each night in the fireplace and loved taking walks around the VERY quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the zoo, the village, alpine pedal path and hiking/biking trails all within a short walk or drive. The beds were very comfy with cozy flannel sheets. And my three year and husband LOVED the foosball coffee table. The cons were that it had a small kitchen with little counter space and no dishwasher. I did spend a bit longer in the kitchen then normal, but because it was a large great room, that included the living room, dining room and kitchen I never felt isolated from the rest of the family while preparing or cleaning up meals.I would rent from Amy again and recommend her cozy cabin to friends or family. Can't wait for our next trip to Fawnskin!

we live in big bear and my senior parents were coming to town so we thought it would be fun and more comfortable to stay in a vacation rental. by online photos we chose amy's place in fawnskin because it appeared open, airy and bright, had plenty of room and a nice sized yard for my dogs. when we arrived we were not disappointed. she has a fully equipped kitchen too. everything is where you think it should be and everything works! her top of the line bbq made many delish meals. the house sits up on a hill above the town of fawnskin but you can easily walk down to the restaurants and with some healthy effort walk back up to the house.

This "cabin" was in a beautiful spot! Fawnskin is so quaint and quiet, just the birds singing! This was definitely more than a cabin-it is fully stocked with games, darts, comfortable furniture and very clean. The wrap around deck gives some great outdoor living. We did lots of walking in the area-and the lake is about a 5 min. walk. Thanks Amy for providing a great place!

We made reservations to Mammoth and changed our minds last minute after finding this place in VRBO. Description of the listing is very accurate and the owner is very accommodating and helpful with our last minute reservation. The cabin is very clean when we got there. The dart board was an instant hit with my teenage boys and plenty of board games for the family to enjoy. The beds were comfortable and have nice linens. There's a huge backyard where kids can enjoy sledding and the wrap around patio is great for appreciating the view of the mountain. We will definitely be back here again!

Elk escape was a great place to stay in a quiet location. Amy was definitely a pleasure to deal with. She made the rental experience a whole lot easier and enjoyable to do. Many pros about the place but a couple of cons. The PROS are the cabin is a custom built cabin and definitely feels the way a mountain place should be. It has a huge fenced in patio and backyard which is great for kids or pets. The bedrooms are very spacious (especially the master) and the beds are extremely comfortable with upgraded sheets. The place is nicely decorated and all the furniture is extremely comfortable. Amy also provides a lot of little extras, games, wifi, direct tv, laundry detergent, nice bath towels, etc. There were a few downsides. The CONS, the fire place does not have a gas connection so if you want to do regular wood burning bring kindling, lighter fluid, or duraflame log to get the fire going or you may spend a little while trying to get it started. There is no dishwasher in the place either. Not the worst thing in the world but I spent a little more time cleaning in the kitchen then I would have liked. The TV in the living room is nice but a little older so there is no HDMI outputs to plug into (if your into tech stuff like me, things like apple tv won't work downstairs but it is compatible with the flatscreen tv in the master bedroom). There is also little counter space and lighting in the kitchen. If you like to cook you have a little bit of maneuvering to do to work around the kitchen space. All the cons were pretty minor overall but definitely need to be noted. Other than that, the place was very enjoyable to stay at. My family and pets had a nice and relaxing stay. Thank you Amy for a pleasant vacation.

We took a family vacation up to this cabin for a long weekend. We had some friends meet us here and the place could not have been better. There was plenty of room, the home was well stocked with necessities as well as extras, and it was super clean. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. I could not ask for more as a renter. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing stay. If you have sensitive sinuses, you may want to bring a humidifier, the high desert air is brutal!

The cabin was more than we could have expected! Plenty of space for 2 families and was perfect for our 4 young children (9mos-4yrs). The furniture was super comfortable and clean and there was an abundance of games and entertainment. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone wanting to get away for a bit...

MLK weekend was approaching quickly and my teenage daughters and I were looking for a winter get away to culminate their winter break. Our search ultimately brought us to the door steps of the “Elk Escape” cabin in Fawnkskin. Much to our delight, the pictures on the internet were awesome but the cabin experience itself was even better than expected. The cabin is high end from top to the bottom. Amy, the owner, obviously takes great pride in providing an atmosphere that’s perfect for creating wonderful family memories. From the décor, to kitchen utensils/appliances, to throw pillows, warm cozy blankets and thick plush towels, the place provides something for everyone. For the kids, there were sleds available for sledding, plenty of board games along with foosball. After a 15 minute trip to BB Village for a shopping tour, it was a quick drive back home to enjoy a warm fire, a hot cup of chocolate and a “friendly “ game of darts. For dad there was super comfy coach in front of the stone wood burning fireplace, where I could chill, (no pun intended) gaze out the glass back doors and watch the snowflakes falling. (Location, location, location) The cabin itself is located in Fawnskin, a quiet little town. From the cabin it was just a few minute walk to the lake. Needless to say, my girls and I had a wonderful time. In closing, my cabin experience with Amy, was awesome, super smooth from booking to check out. Amy is a delight, personable, helpful and pleasant to deal with. I would love to keep this place a secret, but it’s just too nice of a place to not be enjoyed by others….just do me a favor and don’t try to book it the same week ends I’m interested in. LOL Sincerely, Soon to be Frequent Stayers of the “Elk Escape” DA and his two teenage daughters, Stevenson Ranch, CA

The listing was accurate, and the cabin was great. It was so warm we didn't need to turn the heat on until our third day even though it was in the 30's at night. Our family had a wonderful time, including the dog. He was in heaven exploring the LARGE fenced yard. He could not get enough of all the smells he encountered. The kids loved having a room for each of them, especially since they usually share when we vacation. The drive to the Village was so short we drove over every day of our stay for an activity or shopping. Amy was a pleasure to rent from, and she ensured we were comfortable. The amenities provided entertainment- Direct TV, WI-FI, board games, dartboard, and foosball. The washer and dryer were a necessity after the kids spent the day tubing. We relaxed and enjoyed a vacation like no other- we usually run around and schedule too many activities on vacation. I have already recommened Elk Escape to friends, and we are keeping it on our short list of places to visit.

Stayed here with my family over Christmas and we had a great time! I had not been to Fawnskin before, but the location was perfect. It's quieter and prettier than the other side of the lake (where it can get crazy with ski traffic), but when we wanted to get to the slopes they were just a short drive away. We also walked down to the lake a couple times, and the views were gorgeous. The cabin is very well kept, and in much better shape than other ski cabins where we've stayed. Beds were comfortable, and it was easy to keep the place warm in the winter with central heating and the fireplace. The kitchen had everything we needed. The owner is very friendly, communicative, and helpful. Overall a great rental, looking forward to going back.

My husband and I rented this cabin over Thanksgiving and had a great time. We took both of our parents and our two small dogs. The cabin was spacious. The rooms are located in opposite sides of the house giving it a very privat feel. The amentities were ample and of high quality. The wrap around deck opens up from the living and is an excellent addition to the living space and gave our dogs alot of play room. There is also a very large fenced in yard below for dogs and children to play in. Our stay was wonderful I can't wait to go back next year. The owner of the cabin is one of the nicest people I've ever dealt with. She even purchased a roasting pan for us to cook our turkey because she did not have one at the time. If you like to play games there is a nice dart board and small fuse ball table. If you like to relax the couch is super comfortable and there are many movies to watch in front of a beautiful fireplace. I can't say enough about this cabin...If I had one thing to improve it would be a little more lighting in the kitchen which I believe the owner was working on. Worth the money!!!

This cabin was BEAUTIFUL! Incredibly homey and spacious, and a nice wrapping balcony over a small valley. The area is so peaceful that we ended up staying at the cabin more than we planned. It helped that the balcony was secured so our 1 year old could play without us fearing he would fall off. The pictures don't do this place justice. On top of the great cabin, the owners made sure the place was exactly what we were expecting for the weekend. Can't recommend this place enough to anyone looking to get away. We will be coming back here next time we go to Big Bear for sure.
