We have been visiting Burnsville for many years. We were impressed with the newer beautiful home and the quality of its' construction. Many nice touches and very comfortable overall. Unfortunately we arrived to no hot water. The next day the plumber indicated the filters were backed up preventing proper operation. 24 hours without hot water is a hard way to start a family winter vacation .... the cold water available was very very cold. Mistakes happen but we were struck by the relative callousness and inattentiveness of the property manager who offered no apology or credit. She seemed to be put out by our predicament over the holiday weekend and would not return phone calls but insisted upon texting while our cell reception was poor and no internet provided at the house for email. While the home itself is quite comfortable, the surroundings leave something to be desired. We visit the area frequently and most of the rentals have amazing views of the surrounding mountains and vistas. This property, while remote, doesn't offer much scenery and is tucked back behind a lower income residential area. There are a couple of abandoned, collapsing older cabins on the property and we were somewhat concerned about safety. Most property managers collect a damage deposit and refund it in full after a stay but this property required an additional nonrefundable fee to purchase property damage insurance...so more expensive than most. Net, much better options are available in the Burnsville/ Spruce Pine region.Owner response: We apologize and regret that their stay was not an overall positive experience. It is not our goal as you can see from the many reviews to have anyone dissatisfied with their stay. We ensure that all charges and fees are included in every quote. There are no hidden fees or surprises once you review and pay. This includes that we make it clear there is no internet service, but we will look into upgrading based on this feedback. With regards to the water filters and timeliness of repair. We conduct routine and scheduled maintanence and regret that the inordinate amount of rain this year caused any premature filter issues. Once we were contacted by the quest mid morning, this repair was fixed within one hour, not 24 hours as indicated by the guest. We aim to be very prompt and address concerns immediately so as to minimize any inconvenience. This property is secluded and nesteled in the mountains away from the hustle and the bustle. There are two family cottages that are not used but it is a very safe area. We hope this guest continues to visit the area despite their dissatisfaction with our particular property.

This new cabin is perfectly located for a mountain getaway and is idea for a couple or family that wants to enjoy hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, or a quiet weekend away! The cabin has a great front porch with rocking chairs that was ideal for peaceful morning breakfasts. The cabin is immaculate, well-appointed and includes all that you might need from "home" while on vacation: washer/dryer for post-hiking adventures, a jacuzzi tub in the master bath for a good soak, and a fully-equipped kitchen facing the fireplace & TV in the comfortable great room for family gatherings. We loved having the privacy and quiet setting of the cabin to come "home" to after hiking to waterfalls or on the trails near Mt. Mitchell. And also enjoyed the close proximity to Asheville and Burnsville for shopping, and seeing the local art/craft exhibits. We highly recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to enjoy a wonderful "escape" to the mountains!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Kate, Thank you so very much for the kind words. We seeing alot of interest and have it reserved for several weekends after just two weeks. Debbie

My family and I stayed at this lovely home in the Mountains. We were close to the quaint downtown area of Burnsville. Just 30 minutes in either direction we visited Mount Mitchell and Linville Caverns. Only 20 minutes from the Parkway. We played in the river as well during our stay, while my husband fished. One of the cleanest properties we have stayed since visiting the mountains. We will be backRecommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are thrilled you enjoyed the house. Thank you and look forward to your next visit.
