This Vermont vacation rental located close to Barnard and Woodstock, family friendly skiing, Silver Lake, and other recreation is a rustic house, parts of which date back to 1799. It easily sleeps eight to ten people for a very special Vermont vacation experience. The artist Sanford Ross (1907-1954) purchased the "Partridge Hill" farm in 1940 with an artist's eye for the dramatic vistas it provides of the Barnard Brook Valley and the forested mountains above its meadows. It was here that Ross, using Vermont’s rural scenery as his inspiration, confirmed his place in the “American regionalism” movement being pioneered by Grant Wood and Thomas Hart Benton.
The modern kitchen is open to a large family room looking out to the mountain rising in the near distance. This is a calm, profoundly beautiful place that combines lots of quiet space with plenty of recreational space (two TV rooms; even a large pool room!) so that multigeneration groups find it especially attractive. Huge yard with long bank works well year round: from whiffle ball games in summer to sledding in winter.
