Shady Cove Escape
Shady Cove Escape
We had a lovely peaceful stay at this home. It was in an idyllic setting. Though only 3 miles from the town, it felt like it was in the middle of the country far from the hustle and bustle of our over scheduled daily lives. The full day of guided fishing on the Rogue River with Grieves Guide Services was fantastic with lots of fish caught. Our dogs adored the place and they did not wish to leave as they spent their days romping around the property with the friends from the neighbors houses and swimming in the river. Our children - ranging in age from 4 to 18 loved the place, particularly the opportunity to see deer on the property.

Great place. Lovely to be close to the river and surrounded by nature and sweet animals such as deer and rabbit. Our only disappointment was that the hot tub advertised was not in working order. As we stayed in this rental in early fall, which included a rain storm, a dip in the hot tub would have been a wonderful addition. Perhaps take the "hot tub" amenity off the add until tub is in working order.

Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. I am so sorry that you thought there was a hot tub. No where in our listing does it state there is a hot tub. Nor is one shown in any photos. This property DOES have an old disabled hot tub from the previous owners (we're told it last worked 7 years ago) but our insurance company made us specifically disable it - we drilled many holes in it. It is slated to be fully removed in the spring. We wish we could provide a hot tub, but our insurance doesn't allow it. You guys were great guests, we'd love to have you back.

My family and I had a wonderful time on the river. We also went into Ashland for a play which was great.

We use VRBO a lot, never wrote a review. This one is deserving ;-)! This is what we wanted and more. Clean, big, comfortable and away from the Rat Race of life. The wrap around deck, which overlooks the Rogue River, is just perfect! We played games, read books, took walks, played music, picked berries and slept well in the comfy beds. It was a wonderful time. We were sad to leave this home. In the short time we stayed, it just felt like home. I recommend you stay, you won't be disappointed. We will be back! If only I had more vacation time on the books.

If you want to get away...this is the place

Amazing stay, great experience with the owners, in a $500K furnashed home plopped in the middle of no where...right where we wanted to be. :-) I love being out doors and love the peacefull ness of camping and riverrafting, but my wife loves the creature comforts of home. If you are similarly minded, this is the place for you. We live in a very nice home and when we opend the door to this home, it felt like our home. Vaulted cealings throughout the home Huge master bedroom and bath with 2 person tub Great beds, lots of pillows Baby stuff, like High chair, pack n' play, and fan were all there. Large Flat screen TV with a couch that fits the whole family and 100 movies to choose from Computer (MAC) to use Full electronic keyboard Indoor and out door games provided I didn't have a great sense for how big 19 Acres is, but I can tell you...you might as well be all alone in the forest with a 1/4 mile of river out your back deck and no one to share it with. We ate every meal on the coverd deck overlooking the lake, skipped rocks on the river, and my wife got her evenign bubble baths...so win win. However...be aware, this place is at least 5min off the main road on a safe but unpaved privat drive and when we were driving to the house for the first time, I was a little nervous, but realized you can't get away...unless you get away.

We had never been to Shady Cove and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this wonderful home. The house is spacious and has everything you could possibly want to spend a wonderful vacation. It is located in a very private area and the sound and view of the Rogue River were very soothing. We spent two weeks there and did not want to leave. We saw many deer and other critters during our stay. Livie, our yellow lab, loved it! We had dinner twice at Miguel's in town and had pizza at Pizza at the Cove. Both were excellent. It's a great location if you want to take advantage of the local attractions such as Crater Lake, Hellgate Excursions and the Oregon Caves. The owner was very nice and easy to work with, and the housekeeper even came to the house during the middle of our stay to check on us. Make sure you bring dog biscuits because Lady makes her daily visits to the house.

We had a great family trip to Shady Cove and environs and loved staying in this house. It's spacious, and we really appreciated comfy beds and linens, good coffee, a really well-equipped kitchen, and falling asleep to the sound of the river. It's a little daunting to find the first time, but once there it's easy to get back and forth to town. The location was great for fishing, rafting, a day trip to Crater Lake, and the going on to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival. The Fishing Hole folks were great for our river adventures. And, the owners were easy to work with, as well.
