We rented Channel House for three nights in April and highly recommend it. Lopez Island is a small, rural island with friendly people who wave at every car. Two families (4 adults and 6 children) stayed in this house, which had the perfect sleeping arrangements. The secluded beach, great trails, and wildlife were exactly what we were looking for to get away from our hectic schedules. Everyone loved the hot tub, dart board, hundreds of books and movies, and the fire pit. Our communications with the owner were easy and directions were precise (but I wouldn't want to look for the house for the first time after dark). We had a couple of issues while we were there, but the on-island manager helped us straighten them out right away. I wish we would have taken bicycles because Lopez Island is ideal for cycling. Thank you for sharing your home with us; we had a fantastic vacation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We (group of 8 adults - 4 couples) had a great time in Channel House...wished we could have stayed longer..we stayed only for two nights.. but its full of fun with lots of gaming...and the spot is very good.. but we had little trouble in locating the house even after reaching near it when we arrived in night...perhaps more lighting in nights would help... but overall our experience is very very good...Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Channel house has become our home away from home. Winter time on :opez is so different. We truly get "lost" here. Great job on everythng you are doing--great vision by you two. We sat in the hot tub everyday, rain or shine, and whether it's the stars or the lights of Victoria--there was always a good show.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Amazing, panoramic views from the house and large deck. The house is well stocked with all the necesseties. It sits above an expansive beach that feels like you could walk forever. Our kids truly enjoyed the beach from walking, to constructing forts, to collecting "special" shells and rocks. The best part is, it's just 50 steps (or so) directly below the house. The house itself has a huge lawn for the kids to run around, with sightings of deer and rabbits! Extremely peaceful and relaxing, wish I was there now!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We were fortunate enough to visit this vacation property with friends. It is a lovely home where life just seems to slow down. The deck (running the length of the home) and views can’t be beat. We enjoyed watching the water, boats, seals, and birds all from the comfort of the deck and hot tub. We walked for hours on the beach just enjoying the beauty and exploring all the driftwood forts – each a little different. The bunk room was perfect for the kids – really made them feel like they had a place of their own. The owners have done a great job stocking the home and making it a comfortable retreat. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have been fortunate to book Channel House during several different seasons (Spring, Fall & Winter). Each stay has been rejuvenating. The basics: The house is everything that it is advertized to be. Clean & well maintained. Very well stocked...makes the stay very easy and comfortable. At the property: Daily walks on the beach provide new discoveries every time. Our son loves to build and play in the driftwood forts along the beach. Harbor seals, ravens, eagles and other waterbirds are companions during the walks. During our last stay this fall on an unusually windy day, we watched an eagle for 15 minutes as it would hover, dive, and come back up hunting for fish. We had a front row seat right on the deck…amazing. The house has ample bedrooms (nicely spaced) and bathrooms, so that even with a large group there is opportunity to spend quiet time alone if wanted. The kitchen works great…double oven, 5-burner cooktop, dishwasher…all the conveniences of home. It is outfitted well with plenty of glassware, dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, coffee grinder, coffee maker, etc. It is really nice to enjoy the views to the water while we cook and eat our meals. For the kids there is lots of room outside to play Frisbee, whiffle ball, croquet, ride bicycles and just run around. There is a fire pit as well for roasting hot dogs or marshmellows, and it’s nice to just sit around at the end of the day. The hot tub is a great way to start and finish the day. The night sky is so clear up here. One evening our timing was right and as we soaked in the hot tub we watched the space station come across the sky and straight overhead before vanishing to the east. Nearby: The golf course is literally a 5 minute drive away. It is a great 9 hole course that I enjoy going around twice to get my full 18 holes. There are plenty of good restaurants in town choose from, but we tend to stock up at the grocery store and then settle in to do our own cooking. The grocery store in town has all we need and a nice selection of beer & wine. I recommend at least one trip to the South End Grocery/Deli...they roast their own coffee and also have a great selection of beers/wines. Summary: We have enjoyed every stay. It always feels like it’s too soon leave each time we’ve had to pack up and come home. Looking forward to our next visit. Definitely recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I relax just thinking about this place...it is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed as a family. We came and brought some friends with us, everyone was so impressed. It is hard to beat the natural beauty of Lopez but you can walk for miles along this beach, south to Shark Reef Point and north so far you feel like you reached town. There are great wildlife moments, watching seals catching salmon, eagles hunting, so many birds, bunnies and deer. There is so much room outside the house for the kids to play kickball, catch, ride bikes and explore, down on the beach they play for hours - they don't even miss the video games!! It’s fun to relax and play darts, curl up and read, relax in the hot tub. Just 5 minutes away is the island golf course- it’s fun and inexpensive too. Wander in to town and shop the local artists especially on Saturdays for the local farmer’s market. The house is definitely one of the best stocked rentals ever. We love to cook and everything you need is here - so nice compared to other places we have stayed. Double oven and great cooktop, it's a dream. You can easily seat everyone for dinner inside or out (on the biggest deck ever). The bedrooms are so very, very comfortable, (no smelly, tiny rooms) great space and linens. The kids bunk room is over the top, I think my son would like it duplicated at home. And 3 bathrooms!!! One week just doesn't seem long enough when you are here.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children.

We stayed at the Channel House over the long Thanksgiving weekend and had a great time. The views are breath taking and can be appreciated from nearly every room. The house seems to go on forever with a total of 3 cozy hang out areas we were never at a loss for space. The beds were all fantastic. Pillow top mattresses (no lumps or dips!) and high thread count sheets, we all slept very well. We traveled with three kids who were 3 and under which presented some challenges. The woodstoves while charming were a constant concern. This would be a non issue if we stayed in the warmer months. The bunkroom also shared a wall with the bar area which made it impossible for us to use once the kids went to bed (which is a shame because it's AWESOME!). There were also a lot of breakable items we needed to move out of reach from little hands. I’m not sure we would opt to stay here again until the kids are a little older but would come back with an adult group in a heartbeat. I also have to note we had issues with one of the hot water heaters breaking while there. The support we were given was great even though there really wasn’t anything they could do about it while we were there. It was a Holiday and on Lopez. It’s not like there’s a Home Depot that you can run to for a new one which is part of the charm of being on Lopez. We totally understood they couldn’t have an automatic fix and appreciated they were available to us for questions whenever we needed it. The kitchen was also a nice surprise since the photos don’t do it justice. Having two ovens made cooking a breeze and we adored the alphabet mugs. No mug mix ups for our endless pots of coffee.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful family reunion getaway at your home. Couldn't have asked for a sweeter place to come back to after going on beach walks, hikes around town, kayak excursions, and blackberry hunting adventures (made a delicious pie). It's so peaceful and calming to sip morning coffee while sitting on the porch watching all of the sailboats go by. The Channel House is perfect for a much needed vacation. We don't want to leave!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
