La Casa Mango is a newly remodeled, repainted and refurbished home on the island of Culebra, Puerto Rico. The house has a new kitchen and full bathroom. I am a veterinarian from Iowa and I can rent to you any time of the year. The kitchen, bathroom, floors and walls are all re-tiled and repainted. Please come down to do as little or as much as your heart desires.
Culebra Island
The island of Culebra has been featured in Caribbean Travel and Life ( February 2006), Islands Magazine (May 2006) on turtle watching and Conde Nast (May 2006). Culebra was the lead feature in Conde Nast of 10 smaller islands to get away from it all. I can assure you that the quiet, serenity and friendliness of the old Caribbean is manifested by Culebra. Traveler Magazine rated Flamenco Beach one of the top 3 beaches in the world ranked with Acapulco in Mexico and Bondi Beach in Australia. The island has another 10 beaches where you may be the only ones to enjoy their beauty. A trip to Culebrita to visit Tortuga Beach is a must. Tortuga can only be described as the deserted beach you see in the Corona beer ads. Perfection of sand, sea and sky.
Activities
On Culebra you make your own fun. Visitors can do as much or as little as they desire. Taxis or publicos can take you to the the beautiful beaches or to downtown Dewey for an evening of dinner and meeting the local people and visitors for a small fare of $2 per person. Everyone is friendly and enjoys a good time in a safe environment! The key to Casa Mango is obtailed at the Kokomo Hotel across from the ferry on the 2nd floor. The key can also be obtained at the Sandbar Bar or the Bakery in the same building.
Exterminator
Monthly we have a licensed exterminator come in and set insect and rodent traps. Casa Mango is as free of vermin as it is possible in the tropics. Properties w/o monthly extermination services WILL be infested with vermin. I do not believe vermin belong in a property you are renting on vacation any more than you would tolerate vermin at home.

To be fair, I want to first say how many clean sheets and towels were available. That being said...since when does a 5 star rating given to a house with no hot water?? The accommodations are sparse at best but worst of all is how dirty the floor was. I went not expecting much, and got a lot less.

Owner response: Properties in the Caribbean often do not have hot water heaters. The showers are heated with electric shower heads that are safe, hot and efficient. The linens are 400 count Egyptian cotton bedding andf an abundance of towells are always available. The washer and dryer is available to guests 24 hours a day and they can wash their clothes before returning home.

House was roomy and very clean, close to town and supermarket. Very quiet neighborhood. Close to the best beach in the world, Flamenco.

Owner response: I thank Carlos F. for the "Perfect Location" review. I agree Casa Mango is the perfect mid island location in a quiet residental neighborhood. I would have preferred 5 stars because I believe we are above average for any Culebra rental.

My friend and another couple stayed for the weekend and really enjoyed our vacation in Casa Mango. We had rented the down 2 bedroom but Dr. Brewbaker moved us to the up 3 bedroom since it was open. The down is cottage like with a large patio to sit outside for breakfast or to BBQ in the evening. The up 3 bedroom is very roomy and comfortable for up to 10-12 people. Justin lives in the casita behind Casa Mango and he will give you the key and answer questions about Culebra. The house was all we could ask for and we will stay at Casa Mango the next time we visit Culebra.

Casa Mango was everything advertised and much more. Located centrally on the island of Culebra Casa Mango is in a quiet neighborhood with the caretaker Justin living in the casita behind Casa Mango. Justin did a meet and greet to give us the key at the ferry. Casa Mango was very clean with no vermin of any kind. The house is spacious with ceiling fans in every room and a fully equipted kitchen. Casa Mango is perfect for 2 to 12 people to stay in comfort and sleep in air conditioned bedrooms. I cannot imagine a better rental for the money with spaciousness, cleanliness and no suprises.
