We love our Florida home and will use it when you're not there. Please treat it with care. We love the community ferry that takes us to South Venice's private beach. But we also like to bike to Caspersen Beach for a bit of exercise and scenery along the intracoastal. It's the best place to catch Venice's incredible sunsets, in fact. After building five homes prior, my parents built the Venice house with all the little extras like added lighting and dimmers throughout, sky lights, lots of large windows, and an open floor plan that offers a true Florida-home experience. We have lots of family in the area so we come back often and consider Venice one of the best kept secrets in the state. We love the cozy feel of its historic, pedestrian-friendly downtown, as well as the beachy, rustic feel of South Venice where folks know they've found something special because it's off the beaten path. For a swim in the pool or a workout, we join our friends and head to the YMCA just down the road. And Sarasota is only a short drive if you run out of things to do in the neighborhood (but that basically never happens). When you look at a map, you will see the parks and nature preserves within and surrounding our humble little city. It makes Venice one of the truly desirable destinations for outdoorsy types like us who hike, bike, kayak, as well as go to the beach. You'll love Venice and our home. But don't tell too many of your friends about us...
Keywords: Bright and open floor plan, well-kept, comfortable, private home in beachy community. Easy access to tennis, walking/biking trails, senior center. Bike to beach w/o using US 41. Easy access to stores and quick (25 min) commute to Sarasota for major shopping or touring (but you won't want go anywhere once you arrive!).

Last summer I spent 3 months enjoying this lovely family home in quaint Venice. It is very comfortable and so spacious with its wide open room arrangement and raised ceilings in almost all the rooms including the master bath. Everything I needed was in place so there was no preparation, just unpack and begin to enjoy. My puppy loved the yard and walking the neighborhood - no sidewalks, but well lighted paved streets and very little traffic - just the locals coming home, waiving and nodding as they pass. Close enough to main roads with easy access to shopping, restaurants and lots of beaches - not crowded and unspoiled with saw grass instead of high rise Condos. Lots of free parking too. We enjoyed the dog parks - well shaded with picnic benches and even an ocean park where the dogs could splash in the water and run the beach. Area did not get good internet reception, so the web connection, phone and cable were a real plus. I would definately go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

My spouse and I just spent six days at this wonderful Venice home. We loved this location, you are just a short walk from the lovely Shamrock park. We rode bike's along the intracoastal waterway, so enjoyed seeing the turtles along the way. Beautiful beaches are just several minutes away by car. We loved Casperson beach and took a picnic to enjoy everyday. The house will easily accommodate 6 to 8 people, with plenty of seating arrangements. The kitchen was well equipped. Can't think of anything we couldn't find. Enjoy the lemon and grapefruit trees in the back garden. All in all, friendly neighbours in a safe neighbourhood with lots of things to do. Don't forget to bring the dog, they have a fabulous dog and beach park there too !!!. Will definitely be back next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1995
About the owner: We use VRBO to book our ski destinations and have never been disappointed. We love the outdoors. Whether in the mountains, on the farm, or on the coast.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
This is a family property and we built the home with my parents originally. They retired in Venice in 1993. We lived in Tampa at the time.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love to bike and use the extensive bike trails throughout the area. It's so easy to walk or bike from this house. Most people have to drive and park to pickup the Venetian Waterway Trail. We love the rustic feel of the area, but you can go from rustic to high-end in minutes! It truly has everything. And our neighbors are great!
