Stayed during January to escape some of the cold at home. The house has everything you would need, and the location is great. The view of the Gulf from the living room and sun room is fantastic. It was very quiet and private, especially in winter. There were many times on the beach there'd be no one else for more than a quarter mile in each direction. You'll see dolphins on occasion, sometimes within 30 feet from shore. My only complaint was that it was colder on average than I thought it was going to be (even icy the last day), which of course has nothing to do with the house itself, and everything to do with the historically cold winter all across the U.S. this year. Just my luck!

Owner response: Stephen and Patty...Thanks for the nice review, Fran and I strive to make our place as homey and inviting as possible. We think our view of the gulf is one of the best on the panhandle but were somewhat bias'ed, but thank you for mentioning it in your review. We are so sorry that mother nature didnt play well with yall in regards to the weather. January is normally much better. (We promise to make a deal with mother nature for your next visit). We hope you enjoyed the local establishments and friendly people. Yall were there long enough they probably concider you a local. Have a great summer and Fran and i look forward to your next visit.
I recently loss my mother right before our stay and thought I would have to cancel our plans. The homeowners worked with me during her illness and we were able to keep our plans. They were so thoughtful and really cared about my feelings. NOW what can I say about their home!!!! It was AMAZING! I was able to sit inside the house or sunroom and watch the waves break to the shore. We even watched a trio of dolphins feeding for hours right out front. The house had everything we needed - it was like being in my own home with the luxury of the ocean at my front door. We listened to their 70's cds which brought back times past when I didn't have a care. It was nice to relax and remember happy times gone by. We have stayed in Mexico Beach over the years because it is so laid back but close enough to Panama City, where we went to a movie, and far enough away to be out of the traffic and crowds. And we never miss a chance to go to Appalachacola for a great meal on the water plus the Sunset Grill and the Marina in Port St. Joe. We can't wait to reserve another visit to this home. Thank you for sharing your home with us for a very hard Christmas for me.

Owner response: Lisa, Fran and I are deeply saddened by the loss of your mother. The tranquil, laid back atmosphere of our beach house is just what you needed to reflect, and cherish the memories. The view from our front Sun room helps to drift off deep in thought while watching the seagulls and dolphins on the beach. Thank you for sharing your experiences, and favorite places with others. It's helps others to get an idea of what to expect. We look forward to your next visit....We'll keep the light on...LOL Thank you
GREAT PLACE AND GREAT FUN
GREAT PLACE AND GREAT FUN
Tried to give 5 stars but would not let me. I took my kids to stay here here for a week and did not want to leave. Everything you could want or need for your beach trip is all conveniently there for you. Only thing you need to pack is food and clothes. My kids spent many hours riding bikes along the beaches and fishing.Would definitely recommend this cute house. So glad we found this place for our summer trip.

Our stay at property 380878 was wonderful. Cottage was clean and we enjoyed the availability of the beach gear (chairs, beach buggy, umbrella, etc...) and having the washer/dryer was an absolute necessity. Owners were easy to work with and we would recommend to our friends.

My husband and I were guests of the cottage July 13-20. The house is very comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed the front room that overlooks the beautiful beach. The only complaint we had was crossing the highway to get to the beach. It was not far but we had to wait on traffic each time. The location is in a quiet beachfront neighborhood and within walking distance to Toucans. We enjoyed the fun casual atmosphere and the food and drinks were delicious. Port St. Joe is only a few miles away and we found our favorite restaurant there: Sunset Coastal Grill. The owners provided bicycles and a buggy for hauling your things to the beach. I would recommend this rental cottage and I am sure we will be visiting again.

Owner response: Elizabeth, Thank you for the nice review. We strive to make our place ans homey and comfortable as possible, and yes the view from the front room is out of this world. The view is what sold us on this place, we think it has one of the best views in all of Mexico Beach. Traffic on occasions may get a little heavy on the weekends, but thanks to the city of Mexico Beach there is a wonderful sidewalk and boardwalk right out in front of the house to get you to the beach. We look forward to seeing yall back soon...Happy Vacation
Great vacation at a wonderful place!!!
Great vacation at a wonderful place!!!
What a fantastic stay! We just left Florida and I can say that it was easily one of the most enjoyable weeks we've spent. I say that despite the fact that we decided to leave a day early due to the flooding and severe weather that they have had yesterday and today. The home was so nice and the location was perfect. The view of the ocean and the sunsets was breathtaking. The owners were very easy to work with and gave us a lot of information beforehand that was helpful for us in planning our time there. The house is well furnished and has all the things we wanted in a beach house. My husband and I spent the week with our 7 and 9 year old boys. I can that there is something there for everyone to enjoy. We loved the fishing and boogie boarding as well as going to the beach after dark to see the ghost crabs. The boys loved building sandcastles and collecting shells and playing football on the beach. The town itself is very charming. If a fast paced night life is what you're after, you'll have to do a trip to Panama City because Mexico Beach is a very laid back beach town. As parents we loved the fact that there were many times when we were the only ones on the beach. We went to Myrtle Beach last year and it was stressful to keep an eye on the kids in the crowds. Not the case this year. We were usually the only ones on the beach for a hundred yards in either direction. There were no crowds. At all. And we were there over July 4th, which I would presume is one of the busiest times there. That alone makes me want to come back to Mexico Beach. The surrounding towns and areas are nice too. Panama City has lots of fun things to do. Port St. Joe has grocery stores/restaurants, Cape San Blas is beautiful. The area truly has something for everyone no matter what age. I would absolutely recommend this area, especially to people with young children. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Owner response: Elaine and Andrew...Thank you for the wonderful review, and the info that you gave that helps to explain the local area, points fof interest and friendly establishments. Others that are planning on staying will greatly appriciate your input. All of the things that you mentioned are the exact reason we bought our little peice of paradise here in Mexico Beach. The non hectic laid back atmosphere, the family friendly culture, and friendly people of Mexico Beach is what drew us to this area. We enjoyed shareing our home with yall and look forward to your next visit.

My teenage daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at this beach cottage. The location was quiet with a beautiful view of the ocean. You could hear the waves from the front porch area. The cottage was clean and well supplied, and the owner was wonderful to deal with. Local store owners were so friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed eating at Toucans and Mango Marleys. The beach was clean and not crowded. I would stay here again anytime, and would recommend this cottage.

My family of 6 (all 20+ years of age) just stayed at this beautiful home. The location is PERFECT. We were right across from the beach in a section where there aren't many other people. It's just outside of all the Mexico Beach tourist hotels, restaurants, etc. It's less than 5 minutes to get anywhere in Mexico Beach, but you don't have to worry about anyone bothering you. We ate at Killer Seafood one night (AWESOME) and ate at home the rest of our stay. We got fresh seafood from the shrimp lady the owner recommended, in Apalachicola, and the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe. The owners are incredibly nice and very helpful. We spent more time on the porch than anywhere else in the house - great view of the beach! The only complaints were that there was an ant colony in the porch table that got bothersome towards the end of our stay. Also the master bed is really really soft. My husband and I prefer a firm matress and we kept rolling to the middle of the bed. We would definitely return and recommend this property to anyone!

Owner response: Chiann and family, We are glad you enjoyed our little peice if paradise. Thank you so much for the nice review. Yes we have the perfect location, close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the hustle and bustle to be really relaxing. Arent the views wonderful from the front sunroom. Sorry about the bed...everyone has their preferences...we went with medium so we could kinda please everone somewhat. As to the ant problem, we have never had that before, someone must have spilt a beverage and not cleaned it up completely, I will have the housekeeper check into that. Fran and I hope your vacation was great and look forward to seeing yall back soon.
The owners were very hospitable in that you were given access to their personal property such as fishing and beach accessories, bicycles, etc. The beds were very very comfortable. The property was very clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this cottage in that the view was good and the location was excellent.

We just returned from a much needed relaxing stay at Isle of View. Aptly named. The Gulf was gleaming at us from every angle, complete with dolphins and beautiful birds aplenty! We have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and they loved it. A beautiful, uncrowded, mellow, white sand beach, clean as can be is just steps away. Just up the road was touristy stuff in Panama City for our kids. Miniature golf, zoos, water parks, rides etc. Close, but far enough away that you can convince the kids we could only do one day! In the other direction, you have the lovely town of Apalachicola with the best oysters in the country and St. Joseph Peninsula, one of the great unspoiled beaches of the country. And then there is the great laid-back town of Mexico City itself. No privately owned homes on the beach, no buildings over 4 stories. Rare for Florida, or for any coast for that matter. And don't even get me started on the mighty Killer Seafood fish tacos! George was great to work with and the cottage is clean, comfortable, filled with great amenities and it packs a great little sun-room bar where you can toast the spectacular sunset every night. A great find. We hope to be back some fine day.

Owner response: Meg and Mark, Fran and I are so glad you and family enjoyed you your stay. Your input on this review will help others to understand the "Jewel" that we have down there on the Gulf. Far from the hustle and bustle but close enough if you want to drive to it. We hope the bikes, fishing polls, beach umbrellas and chairs help to make your stay that much more enjoyable. The new doublewide sidewalk that goes the length of Mexico beach and the peaceful sidestreets is great for morning bike rides, and afternoon walks. As you commented, the friendly locals and wonderful resturants make this experience a great memory. Thank you for the Great review! We look forward to seeing yall back real soon.

About the owner: Fran and I are both in the aviation industry, and plan on spending more time down here when we retire. We have kids and grandkids that love to come down here and enjoy Nana and Pops beach house.
Why the Owner Chose Mexico Beach:
George had to work down here several years ago, and we fell in love with the beautiful views, slow pace, and friendly atmosphere. We live in Atlanta and try to get down here every long weekend that we can. Now we have our own place right here on the beach that we would like to share with 'Yall'.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
First and formost you will enjoy the view. You can wake up or fall asleep listening to the waves and actually see the water from bed that is less than 100 yards away. Then you will enjoy the fun, friendly, slower paced atmosphere of Mexico Beach. We love morning walks, and sunset strolls on the beach. There are several beach pubs and resturants that are within walking distance, or short ride. You can fish right on the beach in front of the house, go down to the pier, or go out for a 1/2 or full day fishing charter. Or you can go for a bike ride around Mexico Beach. (Bike, fishing polls, beach chairs and umbrellas are all furinshed with the cottage.) Within 30 minutes you can be in Appalacheecola bay, Cape Sand Blas, or Panama City. Scalloping is also fun when in season. You can also enjoy some of the worlds best oysters in this area.
