Casa Fubino overlooks Lake Trasimeno from a hilltop location. It has a commanding view of the lake and extensive panoramic views of mountains, rolling hills, terraced olive groves and cultivated valleys.
The property is reached via a gravel road 15 minutes from the closest town with shops, cafés and restaurants. The nearest airport is Perugia-Sant'Egidio International Airport serviced by Ryanair, Belleair, AirDolomiti from Milan. Here, car rental agencies are available.
This home is an 18th century farm house fully restored with original beams and terracotta floors, maintaining its original rustic atmosphere with modern comforts. This spacious property offers 2 ensuite double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 2 additional shower-bathrooms , a large sitting room, and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a fireplace in the dining area and another in the sitting room.
In the house is an original pizza oven. Why not make your own pizza?
Within the large garden you will find a small organic orchard with peach, cherry and plum trees where you can help yourself. A herb garden (eg, rosmarino, basilico, prezzemolo, origano,alloro) is close to the kitchen. Just outside the kitchen is a covered terrace where you can dine al fresco. The garden features olive trees, almond trees and a selection of pines.
A swimming pool of 5x10m with shower is in a secluded area , with a wide view of terraced olive groves, valleys and mountains. You relax in the hammock, or deck chairs, while the children have a lot of space to play.
The location is an excellent base from which to explore the wonderful Tuscan and Umbrian hill towns. The town of Panicale, 30 minutes away, is a well preserved medieval town. There is an 18th century Teatro Caporali and several old churches, two of which house famous paintings by Perugino and Massolino di Panicale. Further to the north, (about 40 minutes from Casa Fubino) is Castiglion del Lago, a lovely town on a narrow peninsula on Lake Trasimeno. A drive around the lake will take you to Tuoro and Passignano. Both towns (as well as others) have ferry services to the three islands on the lake. To the northwest about 1 hour & 40 minutes away, is Siena. Other nearby Tuscan hill towns are: Chiusi - with its Etruscan museum and tombs; Castiglion Fiorentino and Arezzo which also boast Etruscan archeological sites; Montepulciano - home of the famous Vino Nobile; and San Casciano dei Bagni with its wonderful day spa and mineral baths. On the Umbrian side is Perugia (30 minutes) as well as Todi and Orvieto (1 hour & 20 minutes). Nearby are Citta’ della Pieve - the birthplace of Renaissance artist Perugino; Assisi; Spoleto; Deruta (ceramic center of Umbria) and Gubbio.
Another feature of Casa Fubino’s location is its central position in Italy, being 145 km from Florence, and 172 km from Rome. A day trip to either city becomes easy via an hour’s (approx) travel on Intercity train from Chiusi or Terontola; each about 40 minutes by car from Casa Fubino.
Two golf clubs are within easy reach by car. Within the immediate vicinity of Casa Fubino, mountain biking, walking/hiking can be enjoyed for contributing to the perfect holiday in a relaxed atmosphere and safe environment. For artists and writers especially, the location provides the ideal environment of natural beauty away from the stresses and strains of everyday life, contributing to inventiveness and creativity.

Payment conditions:
A non refundable deposit of 30% is needed to secure a booking
The remaining 70% of rental plus Euro 300 security deposit is due 60 days before arrival.
The security deposit is reimbursed within 10 days of departure less any damage.
Payment is by bank transfer in euro.

A lovely retreat, even at this time of the year, when in Italy the weather is still warm and sunny and with beautiful sunset over the lake. During the day we explored nearby interesting sites and the evening enjoyed the coziness of the home by the fire place. We had fun with the children making pizza in the ancient bread oven. We appreciated Lance's advise in getting around and also the "Orientation Notes" with information on Umbria and interesting places to visit. A memorable experience for our family.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our two weeks here was a perfect celebration of Umbria. The chance discoveries in picture postcard, hilltop towns, the maginificent weather, and of course this wonderful house. Thank you for all that you did to ensure that this vacation will always be remembered and treasured by our family. We spent one of our most comfortable and relaxing holidays. We loved the hominess of the house, spaciousness outside for the children to play and the sunsets over the lake. A warm thanks to Maria for her assistance and advice in getting around and we certainly wish to return for another holiday soon. The discription here was very accurate and the photos too. We were a United Nations family, partly with Italian roots. While seeking a home in Italy, we were stunned by the breathtakingly beautiful views from the site of what is now Casa Fubino, and by the peace and calm of the sorroundings. Although partly in ruins, we could appreciate the charm of the old farmhouse and we found its appeal for loving and authentic restoration to be quite irresistible. We found it ideal for family reunions, a convenient point from which to visit antique markets in Perugia and Arezzo and for taking walks on countryside roads & trails.
