Unlike the typical resorts and hotels to the west or south, Maui Tradewinds is a private, family-owned retreat on the north shore of Maui. This part of the island still offers the chance to experience a natural paradise of pristine beaches, bamboo jungle, waterfalls and tropical rainforest.
There are only two guest accommodations here -- Tradewinds Suite and StarWind Cottage -- each one on an entirely separate part of the property from the other, and there are no shared or common areas. We rented Starwind for 4 nights in January '12 and I can't sing it's praises any louder. Bev and David were extremely gracious hosts; I'm not sure if they accommodate everyone as warmly as they did for us, but I imagine from the reviews elsewhere, they do. The house was very comfortable and extremely private. We were so glad we stayed on this part of Maui instead of the more resort oriented area. We felt the house was perfectly situated to explore the entire island because it's centrally located. It's a few minutes away from Paia, where there is a fantastic grocery store (Mana Foods), and we really enjoyed coming home after a jammed packed day of snorkeling, bike riding and driving to dinner at our private home and then soaking in the hot tub under the most outrageous night sky. No doubt about it, when we go back to Maui, we'll absolutely stay here again. I can't stop thinking about the view...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Rates are for two guests. Additional guests are $25/night each person. For 7 nights or more...$306/night. For 5-6 nights...$321/night. For 3-4 nights...$353/night. 3 night minimum reservation. Hawaii tax is 13.42%. One-time cleaning fee of $100.
