Surrounded by 29 acres on a wooded mountain, Sanctuaire (~2000sf) is a quarter century dream in the making. The owner has salvaged beautiful architectural items from San Francisco Victorians, collected high quality antiques and, with superb attention to detail, integrated them into an open-beamed lodge to create an artistic expression of the highest order. This house is such a work of art that it was featured in the New York Times, Sept. 2005. Two Levels, Each with a Bedroom with its own Gas Fireplace, TV, and Bathroom. Woodstove in Living Area. Wrap-Around Deck with Outdoor Dining, Gas Grill. Hot Tub, Seasonal Unheated Swimming Pool (May-Sept), Flagstone Patio, Loungers. Pond, Lovely Gardens, Fabulous Mountain/Forest Views. Satellite WIFI. There are stairs up to the main living area. The living room is partially open to the kitchen, and has a dining area. Off the living area, there's a wrap-around deck with outdoor dining. Down a short hall, there's one bedroom with its own deck and bathroom. Down interior stairs, at ground level, there's a den/bedroom suite with gas fireplace, small patio, and bathroom. In front of the house, there's a large, sunny clearing with garden, seasonal unheated* swimming pool, hot tub and pond.
*The pool is unheated, but it has a solar blanket and is in full sun all day every day, so generally stays warm enough through the summer. On the edge of the property, behind high privacy fencing, there is a cottage with a full-time tenant. No other near neighbors.
Limited to two dogs, approximately 50 pounds each.

5 of 5 We stayed at Sanctuaire in about 2003 and enjoyed it immensely. 9 years later, we made it back and it was as wonderful as we remembered it. The pool was a great idea!!

5 of 5 Sanctuaire is the rare place where you don't need a car, except to buy wine and groceries. Once there, you have no need to leave, you simply sit, enjoy the views, read your Kindle and before you know it the week is finished!
They have a beautiful pool, a pond teeming with neat creatures to see and plenty of room for my dogs to swim and explore. The grounds are expansive, be sure to bring binoculars for the bird and animal life.
You can spend more than a day simply exploring Sanctuaire's furnishings and decor, Marie has accumulated tasteful little treasures over the years and a new 'find' pops up everyday to enjoy.
The location has a feel of isolation, but in a good way; quiet and peaceful, no neighbors within sight, (there is a fenced caretaker's property, but it is not intrusive at all). Will be back!

Staying at Santuare may have saved my sanity..The house is sooo peaceful and lovingly put togeather... A few days was like a month vacation. Everyone had a great time...the kids in the pool, the dog in the creek, my wife in the clawfoot tub over looking the woods and I on the porch with my guitar... If you have an eclectic taste and want to get SUPER CHILL....This is the place...nothing short of incredible. 5 of 5 We had a fantastic time at this extraordinary place. It offers a perfect setting for spiritual reflection, relaxation and fun. We especially enjoyed the supreme quiet, pool, hot tub and interesting archetectural features. A cross between gothic castle and church?
