Markleeville cabin description
As valleys go, Hope Valley would be considered rather small, but without question, it is unrivaled in it's natural beauty. It sits at 7000 ft at the base of Luther Pass on Hwy 89 out of Meyers & South Lake Tahoe. Whether it is the quiet white of winter's freshly fallen snow blanketing the Valley floor, or the brilliant shades of yellow & burnt orange Aspen leaves when they change from the summers green in the fall, the beautiful & scenic Hope Valley is worth visiting any time of the year!!
Our cabin sits just across the meadow from the famous Sorensen's Resort, where Hope Valley ends and where Woodford's Canyon begins. The west fork of the Carson River, after gently meandering its way across the valley floor, begins its descent into Woodford's Canyon on its way to the Carson Basin in Nevada. It is a beautiful and soothing freestone river that flows within a few feet of our cabin's deck.
Our cabin has just been completely remodeled, and you will find it comfortable & cozy. It has a spacious redwood deck with a fantastic view of the river, the meadow across the river and the mountains beyond. It has a fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, satellite TV, gas BBQ and comfortable solid teak deck furniture to relax in & soak up the sights & take in the river sounds below you.
The activities are endless; there are many hiking trailsheads nearby, for lake fishing there are a variety of lakes within a 30 minute drive, stream fishing only steps away, Kirkwood Meadows is 20 minutes from your door step, and if the sites and thrills of Lake Tahoe are calling you, it's only a 30 minute drive away. There are the small quaint communities including Woodfords & the historical town of Markleeville nearby which are an easy, scenic drive down Hwy 88 as it follows the Carson River. There is even an opportunity for indulging in some natural hot springs at the nearby Grover Hot Springs State Park.
Come to relax, come to play, and come to be overwhelmed by the soothing and majestic beauty of Mother Nature's precious jewel...the Hope Valley!!

Perfect Moonlit Nights
So lucky to have been here on a full moon as the snow on the meadow beyond the Carson River was lit up like there was a giant black light on up in the sky. The cabin was warm and cozy and we all had a great experience.

Beautiful cabin by the river
Beautiful cabin by the river
This is a beautiful recently remodeled cabin along the West Fork of the Carson River. While we missed the changing of the leaves by one week this year, the spectacular views you get are amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the large deck eating lunch while listening to the river below. The river is a great place to try to catch some trout. The decor inside the cabin is really nice and we were able to enjoy some quality family time playing games or watching DirectTV. The beds are very comfortable and bathrooms a good size. We liked all the bath amenities, including the fact that we didn't need to bring shampoo or conditioner. The kitchen is a joy in which to cook and included lots of pots & pans as well as condiments/spices. The location is superb for all seasons. There's plenty of hiking, fishing and places to mountain bike in the warmer months. Or, you can drive 35 minutes for golf in the Carson Valley. In the winter, you can sled or snowshoe nearby or head 14 miles down the road to ski at Kirkwood. Your cell phones won't work here, but there is a land line if you need someone to reach you. While there is no internet access, you can walk across the street to Sorenson's and they have free WiFi. The nearby Hope Valley market has some supplies in case you run out or you can drive to Markleeville or Meyeres/South Lake Tahoe in about 20-25 minutes to get all your groceries. The owners are great and have really put a lot of work into making this a wonderful place in which to stay. We plan on coming back this winter again and again for lots of snowy fun!
