Welcome to your private, secluded oasis. Our house sits on 4 lots and is the last house on the street. This affords you a quiet retreat bordering the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The only traffic you will have will be in the air in the form of beautiful flocks of egrets, ospreys searching for a meal, and migrating birds.
The beautiful, uncrowded Delaware Bay beach is just a short walk away down an uncrowded street that is more like a gravel lane - no traffic. The gentle waves are wonderful for children and kayaking and for stand-up paddle boarding. Enjoy views of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, quiet walks searching for shells and seaglass or try your hand at surf fishing.
After the beach, enjoy our large grass yard for games or a catch or spend time in our beachy yard with native grasses, a children's playset and horseshoe pit. Enjoy relaxing in our screened in outside shower while you gaze at the wildlife refuge. Whatever you decide, the quiet and calmness will soothe and relax you.
Our home has 2 screened porches and a wrap around deck on the second level as well as a balcony off of two bedrooms (king and queen) on the 3rd level. Two additional bedrooms on the 3rd level offer a queen bed and two twin beds. There is also a full bath on this level.
The second level which is the main living area offers a fully-equipped kitchen and a full bath. There is also a large sunroom walled by windows overlooking the wildlife refuge, a family room with tv, and a large dining room with two tables. The feel is large, bright and open.
To make your packing easier, we offer paper towels, toilet tissue, trash bags, dish and laundry detergent, dish towels, and bath and beach towels. We also have beach chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, an umbrella and a cart to easily get it all to the beach. You can also enjoy cruising around on one of our bikes. We have two brand new beach cruisers for Summer 2013.
Broadkill Beach holds the charm of yesteryear and is a true treasure. The beach is uncrowded and quiet. There is a small store with sandwiches, ice cream, pantry items, beach goods, fishing supplies and homemade donuts on the weekend. The Rookery, a public golf course, is only 4 miles away. The Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge offers trails to explore as well as streams and ponds to kayak and canoe.
The historic town of Milton is just a few minutes away with restaurants, a grocery store, Domino's Pizza, Subway, etc. The town also offers Music in the Park on Wednesday evenings in the summer along the Broadkill River.
If you want to spend some of your vacation at a faster pace, the towns of Lewes and Rehoboth Beach are about 15-20 minutes away and offer award-winning restaurants, 2 water parks, miniature golf, a cinema, tax-free outlet shopping, the Rehoboth Boardwalk with rides, arcades and boardwalk food. There are also various state parks with ocean beaches, trails and history to explore.
Please note that our home has an occupancy limit of 10 people, including children and babies. Also, no smoking is allowed.

This was a perfect place for our family vacation. The house is very comfortable, clean, super quiet, bright, airy, just about everything we could ask for. The 4 bedrooms easily fit our 3 couples and 3 kids. The multiple porches and indoor spaces meant we could spread out and spend time apart, without being on top of each other or hearing every little thing, but the dining room, great room and back porch were each big enough to fit us all when we wanted to be together. Kitchen could have been slightly better stocked - but the basics + are there, and there's a grill. The dining room easily fit us all, as did the dining table on the screen in back porch. Great for kids - they loved the yard, the play space and the ping pong table. Very quiet - you can't hear anything from the bedrooms, so no one was disturbed by kids getting up early! And we never heard our neighbors. We saw tons of birds from the back porch, and even a few rabbits. The beach is great - easy walk along a sandy drive (and beach cart, towel, chairs, etc provided). Warm water, nice sand, and not at all crowded - never more than a dozen other groups on the beach. The only downside is the water is murky, but its warm. Nice place to ride bikes. We went to the wildlife refuge for a beautiful morning walk. Lewes & Rehoboth are close enough for an afternoon visit or trip to Funland. The owners were very easy, provided clear information - photos don't do it justice! We hope to return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, adventure seekers.

About the owner: We are unique in that we resided full-time in this home for over 14 years. We have lovingly renovated our home as well as added a large addition in 2007. We both grew up at the Delaware Beaches and knew this was where we wanted to raise our family. We love everything the beach has to offer and enjoy surfing, skimboarding, sailing, windsurfing and the salt air. Aside from the beach life, we are avid ice hockey fans and players - you have to do something when it's too cold to go swimming!
Why the Owner Chose Broadkill Beach:
We chose Broadkill Beach as our home for the quiet, secluded nature as well as the beautiful beach. It allowed us to 'get away from it all' on a daily basis. However, we recently decided to relocate to a nearby town to be closer to our jobs, schools and numerous activities. This allows us the opportunity to offer our home as a retreat to vacationers. We will only be a few minutes away and look forward to continuing to enjoy Broadkill Beach. We will be performing the cleaning and maintenance duties ourselves between rentals so you can be assured you will arrive to a clean, welcoming retreat.
