We've stayed at the Sweetspire cottage twice in the past 6 months and we thoroughly enjoyed both our stays. Being just an hour away from Washington D.C, the Linden/Front Royal area is a popular destination amongst our friends for a quick weekend trip. Our group of 6-8 friends have stayed at multiple cottages in the area over the past few years and all our friends agree that the Sweetspire cottage was the best. The range of kitchen utensils, the presence of a dishwasher, the 2 bathrooms, the gas grill and the hot tub are the amenities that differentiates this place from the other options in this area. The location is close to the wineries and a wide range of trails. We drove to SkyMeadows park, which is about a 15-20 minute drive and did a quick hike up to the Appalachian trail. Had a group of friends stay here for my fiancee's 30th birthday. First off, the pictures don't really do the place justice. It was nicer than expected on the inside and has a huge deck on the back. The patio on the first floor also has a fire pit (opposite side of the hot tub) which was great, and they have plenty of wood underneath the second floor deck (it rained when we stayed so it was nice to have dry wood). They have a swingset which would be great for kids if you brought any along Also, the location is great if you are looking to go to wineries. There must be a dozen within 10-15 miles of the place. The Appalachian Trail is as close as the writeup states as well. Very nice place, will probably be going back at some point and highly recommendOwner response: Come experience this treasure for yourself!

My family (my wife and I, her parents and our 4 very little kids) just spent the weekend near Shenandoah and stayed here. We loved it. Huge window in back of the house with a nice view of the woods. A little playground for the kids. Nice back deck with hot tub. Our kids loved the loft as well as the bunk beds. It was very nicely kept - everything was very clean. We would go there again for sure!Owner response: Sweetspire Cottage is the perfect getaway for families and couples. We invite you to come and enjoy it's hospitality too. It's a perfect destination for the autumn months with it's outdoor living spaces on the deck, patio and hot tub, fire pit and play area for the kids. Heat up some apple cider in the fully equipped kitchen and come snuggle in to one of the cozy beds waiting for you!
