Well furnished home with a spectacular view of the mountain range. We have stayed here three times and will be returning in July. It has everything you need. Sat on the back deck each night around the fire pit watching the sunset change the color of the three sisters while sipping on a glass of wine. So relaxing. Can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We have been going to Sun River for the past 8 years to get some much needed sunshine in February. We were starting to get tired of the longer drive, busyness of the area [so we had to watch our dog carefully] and getting rained on during the week. We decided to try the high desert for a change and are glad we did. It is a little complicated getting to the house, but once there you will find a very nice home with comfortable rooms and a well-appointed kitchen. There is a walking trail right out the front that is great for walking your dog. We really enjoyed watching the sun come up and light up the Sisters and Mt. Jefferson out the front windows as we enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace. Lots of black tail deer come around at dusk. It is simply a very relaxing setup. There are walking trails nearby in the BLM lands, but keep in mind that these are more rugged than normal trails. They were worth the extra effort. If you were a rock climber, this would be a perfect place to stay at as you are about 15 minutes from Smith Rock. The only negatives, and these are small, is that there is no Sprint mobile phone reception [hey, maybe that is a positive in disguise] and if you need groceries the Terrabonne store closes early so you drive about 20 minutes to Madras.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We planned a weekend of hiking and fishing....ended up really sick, but couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to relax and rest. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The views were gorgeous! We watched it snow on the mountains all weekend. Can't wait to plan our next trip over.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This rental on the Crooked River Ranch is outstanding in every way. It is spacious, comfortable, and attractive with expansive views of Three Sisters and Mt. Jefferson. The ranch itself is located above the confluence of the Deschutes and Crooked Rivers with 360 degree views which include the Cascades, the Ochocos, The Crooked River Canyon, and the western spine of Smith Rock. A perfect year round destination for outdoor activities or just hanging out.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

It's not often that something meets all your expectations, and even rarer when it exceeds them. From the minute we stepped into our Terrebonne Retreat, we knew we had made both a wise choice and a rare find. The house is perfect, the location is ideal, the hosts are a joy to know, and you find yourself situated at the epicenter of all the outdoor wonders that central Oregon has to offer. Intriguing canyons, wild and scenic rivers, stunningly clear lakes, geologic wonders, the ever-present Cascade skyline vista, wildlife parades and performances - and then there's Day Two. This is a place to cleanse your soul and reflect on all the treasures that life has to offer, a task made easier by two strategically placed back porch rocking chairs that provide ringside seats to some of Oregon's most inspirational and ever-changing sunsets. Whether it's a daytime stroll along the Metolius followed by cloud-watching at Smith Rock with a McKenzie Pass sunset for dessert or a day exploring the Deschutes on your way to hiking the Cascades near Todd Lake, there is never a shortage of places to lose yourself in the marvels of Mother Nature. As is so often the case, words are inadequate to describe what a positive impact that a stay at the "Light House" will have on your outlook and your life. All the memories that we left with will forever be cherished and never forgotten. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor by making a stay at this house a "must-do" on all your lists ...Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My review will echo all the previous reviews. This is a great place to stay. The house is clean, spacious yet cozy, has a well equipped kitchen and a great dvd collection. It was nice to be able to park in the garage and avoid having icy car windows in the mornings. There are lots of deer at Crooked River Ranch and many come right on the property. There is other wildlife on the property such as rabbits and various birds and the walking trail out the back gate is great. I think I could see seven different cascade peaks from the deck. The owners were very helpful and easy to work with - everything went smoothly. One thing to be aware of is that there is no phone line at the house. There is wi-fi so you could make a call via the internet if you know how to do that (I don't). My AT&T cell phone did not work at the house but did get a signal at one specific spot on the walking trail out back or by driving about 5 minutes back towards highway 97. I actually ended up enjoying the fact that the phone never rang and there seem to be enough neighbors close by that I could ask to borrow a phone in an emergency.Did you find this review helpful? I have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals. And I can tell you that this home was lovely. It was cleaner than any home I have stayed in, and that is a very BIG deal to me. Everything was top quality. I enjoyed morning coffee, reading on the deck, walking the neighborhood, watching the wildlife, etc. while my husband was off fishing Prineville and Ochoco Reservoirs and Lake Billy Chinook. It was perfect for our first vacation alone in 3 years. Terry is the most responsive owner and great in communication. He really cares that people have a positive experience in his home. We will definitely come back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We absolutely loved this place. The view was incredible and we would sit on the back porch every night and watch the sunset. There is a very nice trail to take a walk just outside the back yard. Very quiet and peaceful. We watched deer wander through the yard every day. The house was very comfortable for us and our 3 kids, well stocked and very nicely decorated. We would definitely go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What an great vacation home! It's centrally located to host many activities in Central Oregon. This home is nicely decorated, very comfortable, exceptionally clean, and the kitchen is fully equipped. The VRBO listing is accurate in every detail and the owners were very attentive and comfortable to communicate with. The view of the Cascade mountains from the home is picture perfect. The quiet evenings and beautiful sunsets deliver such tranquility. When not reading a good book the WIFI and HDTV provide additional entertainment. We would definitely recommend this home. In fact, we just booked our next stay and are bringing some friends along to enjoy it with us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We are the Light Family; Terry, Ann and our two children, Ian and Hailey. We purchased this house in August of 2011 as a vacation get away for our family. Terry’s Father and Mother built the house in the late 90's as their retirement home. In 2008 they sold the house, and when it came back on the market in 2011 we jumped at the chance to bring it back in to the family.
Why the Owner Chose Terrebonne:
We love the amazing views coupled with the peace and tranquility of the location. Central Oregon has been a favorite vacation destination for our families for decades. We hope we can share this special part of Oregon with you.
