Super for families with small kids
Super for families with small kids
Home was completely as advertised, and owner most pleasant and responsive. Of course one could always voice a quibble here or there, but they would be most minor relative to our great satisfaction with the home. We have now stayed at about a dozen vacation homes over the last 6 years with our sons (4 and 6) and would have to say this was on balance the very best one. Here is a list of some things we found so conducive to our stay there being near perfect: 1) Beach is no more than 10 minutes away. As kids are up and ready to play early, this means you will often beat the crowds (even on weekends) and park right on the beach. (No small feat in MB). 2) Kitchen is really well stocked and functional. We cooked something most every day and always found everything on hand that was required (and always clean and in good shape - I have encountered more than my share of rental kitchens with supplies that look as if they were last cleaned in the decade when they last worked) 3) Back yard is great for small kids. Smallish space, but clean, secure and great for letting little ones work off some energy. 4) Uncomplicated furnishings. Again, I have been to many places where everything is quite nice but you are worried about your kids breaking this or that. This home has everything you need for a pleasant, attractive and comfortable stay but few of the frills and sharp edges that leave you a bit anxious as a parent. 5) Location. For those of you who do not know the Los Angeles area, it can easily seem quite daunting as to where one should stay. Personal preferences and your intended activities will of course play a great role here in deciding where to stay, but assuming that you are inclined towards beach time on more than one day, this is a great spot. As noted, you can be on the beach in the surf in as few as 15 minutes (and still have the complete privacy of a genuine home with its own lot as opposed to the common beach units that (commonly) directly abut the next property. All the possible general shopping and eating needs you could have are to be found minutes away on Sepulveda and the "day trips" into downtown LA were surprisingly easy via the 405/105/110 route. If I was on a purely adult LA-cosmopolitan (by day and night) trip, then I would probably stay elsewhere. But if I am trying to package beach (especially with family) and Los Angeles sightseeing, then this spot is a super choice. We would stay here again in a second.

Owner response: The Blue Beach House is ideally located in Manhattan Beach in an area with plentiful street parking. The neighborhood is warm and inviting and the house is clean and equipped for your stay!
My husband and I and our daughter stay here while visiting our son in Manhattan Beach. We were so comfortable in this house, the house was immaculate when we arrived. We did a lot of cooking and there was everything we needed in the kitchen. Beds were comfortable. Good location, we walked in the neighborhood but had to drive to the grocery etc. Just a great house and wonderful stay! Hope to rent again when we come back.

Owner response: The blue beach house is warm and welcoming to adults, children and pets! The neighborhood streets all have sidewalks, so walking/running or walking your dog are a pleasure.
I recently returned from Afghanistan and needed a place to stay along with my wife and in-laws. We found this place through VRBO and it was perfect. Very close to the beach, very roomy, had all the comforts of a fully furnished home and kitchen. The owner, Kat Galas, was wonderful to deal with and the house was very very clean upon our arrival. I highly recommend this rental if you want to be near the beach without the late night noise on the weekends. We like the rental and area so much we ended up moving into an apartment just a few miles over.
