Chateau General Description
From a distance, Chateau On The River describes itself by its almost monolithic presence on the banks of the Sacramento River. It is large and dominating and perfect for family gatherings, weddings, reunions, etc. It is brand spanking new and comes with some spectacular views. There is lots of room around the dining room table or outside on the decks. Set up lunch on the platform next to the water. Hold a bridge tournament in the large living room. Snowing or raining? No problem. Unload in the dryness of the two car garage. Want some time alone? Send everyone off recreating and you luxuriate in the deep well spa bathtub. Five bedrooms so finding some private space to sleep in late or go to bed early is easy. Just need a place for several families? The maximum number of people for this house is flexible. Usually limited only by your own comfort level.

Year Purchased: 2011
About: Born and raised at Cave Springs, an Eclectic Resort here in Dunsmuir, I have been helping people with their vacations and lodging needs for 60+ years. It is just what I do. So my friends just naturally asked me to help them with their vacation rentals. "Chateau'”is the latest and greatest. It is the largest vacation rental in Dunsmuir and it is right on the River. And if you need to know where to go and what to do, I know secrets! In fact, there is one secret fishing hole just upstream from wherever you decide to stay that has only a few thousand maps printed to it. OK. There are no really secret fishing holes. But there are nooks and crannies, secluded trails and meadows, waterfalls, lakes and streams where you can feel like nobody else is around. Do we have Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh!My! ? You bet we do and only the tigers are in cages. Raptors and wildflowers, squirrels and lizards, and six theaters for a rainy day are all right here in “River City”. Want to know some more history? I wrote the history page on the web site for Cave Springs. Check it out. There are also links to Fishing, Skiing, Rafting, Birding, spelunking, etc .on the site. If you are lucky, when you call here, you will get to talk with Sylvia. She was born in Weed too. (It was the main hospital around here at the time.) Only she was raised in Mt Shasta so she may know even more secrets than I do!
The owners were raised in Dunsmuir also. Frankly, they know there are only a few places left to build on the river and they wanted a couple of projects to give their grandchildren jobs. They built “Chateau On The River” and “Butterfly House On The River” to sell them. You know how that is working out. But, if you are interested in buying river front property, these homes are available at a great value. Meanwhile, for a few shekels less than the purchase price, we can pretend we own a dream home on the Sacramento River for as long as we like. Chateau is on its own 5 acres but still close to town. The Redding Airport is only 55 miles away. Mt Shasta Ski and Board Park is only 16 miles away. Shasta Lake and Shasta Caverns are only 30 minutes south. The Pacific Crest Trail is 2 miles away. Hey! You could walk in from Mexico or Canada. (not) But the trails to and through Castle Crags to the Dome, Indian Springs, and Burstarse Falls are just down the block and around the corner. Only problem is that this house is so pleasant, you may just want to lounge around and not go anywhere.
