Oak Flat Retreat is down a tree-lined road on a 42 acre property, which provides privacy in a rustic setting of rolling hills and Oak trees. This Cozy bungalo is filled with quality art and antiques that compliment the overall feel of this getaway. The property has been restored and equipped with upgraded and new amenities to make it not only a comfortable stay, but a perfect place for entertaining with an open floor plan, comfortable seating, and plenty of room for outdoor entertaining.

Remodeled in 2001, with the notion of making the outdoors accessible the space is outfitted with double hung windows, screen doors and porches designed to take advantage of the great views, fresh country air and beautiful light. While sitting on our porch swing with a glass of wine, and watching the wildlife in their natural setting, you’re bound to have a restful yet inspiring experience!

Enjoy a full cooking and dining experience in our fully equipped kitchen, complete with open dining and living areas, or call our resident chef and local favorite who with little notice can prepare dinner and fill the kitchen with seasonal fruit and vegetables.

All the comforts of home: quality linens and mattresses, wireless internet, printer, fax, and scanner. Flat screen TV and stereo with surround sound.

The loft apartment (rents separately) has its own heating and cooling systems, ceiling fans and many windows that make for a light and airy space. Accommodations include a trundle bed and sitting area with laddered loft space complete with two twin beds for the more agile guest. This space also offers a claw foot tub and kitchenette.

The converted barn/studio that serves as an artist workspace includes a painter’s easel, movable large work table, and a large utility sink. The wood burning stove, large windows and rolling barn doors are perfect for natural light. This space also serves as a teaching or entertainment area with over scaled leather furniture, ping-pong table, wine storage and full-sized refrigerator.

Oak Flat Retreat is located just three miles from the Downtown Paso Robles. With year round festivals, farmers markets, tasting rooms abound and other culinary splendors you are sure to have a great time any time of year!

I came up this weekend with 3 other girls for a little girls weekend and we had a blast!! Of course Paso is always fun, but I think where you stay makes it that much ore enjoyable. I typically stay in hotels in the downtown area and had decided to look on VRBO which is always fun. The retreat is just that, tucked up on it's on little peak with amazing views, and it's so peaceful and quiet! We were greeted by Tina, she had a bottle of wine waiting for us. The beds were SO comfortable. We were able to cook great meals both nights and even sat out on the paved driveway with our wine and gazed at the stars! There a great little patio area to eat breakfast and dinner on....I can go on and on. We are all ready to come back for our next visit to Paso. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here if you want to jet off for some peace and quiet, and enjoy some Paso wines.

My husband and I met another couple (our friends) and spent 3 nights at Oak Flat retreat. The place was perfect and check-in/coordination could not ahve been easier. Fresh flowers in every room was a very nice touch. Each bedroom (and every room in the house for that matter) has amazing views of the valley. The beds...well, I can't remmeber the last time I slept so well. They were increadibly comfortable. We cooked breakfast every morning and the kitchecn was well stocked. The table in the nook area was really comfortable and offered a great vantage point to bird (turkey) watch in the morning. The location is very convenient, an easy drive to town and just a couple minutes from several wineries. There is nothing about our stay that we would have changed or flet like we missed. Thank you for opening up your home to us and making it a truly memorable stay. We will try to make it back up soon for another visit.

My husband and I, along with our daughter and son-in-law arrived with much anticipation! We were welcomed by the comforts of a home away from home. Freshly arranged flowers greeted us in each room. As did the bottle of wine in the kitchen....awaiting our arrival. The fireplace was a treat in the early mornings. Both our beds were divine and the throw blankets were put to good use. We will truly miss the wild turkeys and the deer along the roadway. The views from the house are breathtaking. We even went to the recommended local farmers market and bbq on the porch one evening. What else can I say? We long to return, maybe in the fall.

From the moment we arrived we were in heaven. The location could not have been more perfect as the home is out in the middle of beautiful countryside and just a short trip to the charming town square. The views were stunning as was the gorgeous artwork throughout the lovely and immaculately kept home. The owner could not have been more accommodating and gracious. All the restaurants she recommended were fabulous as well as the wonderful farmers market. We cannot wait to come back!!

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 1999

About the owner: Oak Flat Retreat was originally purchased by an artist pair whose primary residence is in Southern California. We were looking for a beautiful country place, where we could paint outside year round. After looking in a variety of places for several years, we came to visit friends in Paso Robles and fell in love with the area. The moment we saw this property we knew that this was our perfect retreat. In 2000 our plans for a simple remodel of the existing home grew from opening a wall here and a window there, to a complete remodel including porches on all sides, new windows and doors, new beamed ceiling, new roof, fireplace, complete kitchen and master bath remodel, wood floors as well as new A/C and soft water systems. Not to mention the exterior stone, paving and drip systems. We never intended on building a larger house, planting grapes or raising farm animals because we wanted to come to Paso to relax and enjoy family and friends. As the wines of this area are being discovered and grow in popularity the influx of new restaurants, tasting rooms, organic foods and artistic people continue to change the demographics of Paso Robles. We continue to be amazed at the speed at which our community is growing, but are thankful to be surrounded by large ranches and farms that for at least our lifetimes will help to preserve the country way of life. Being in Paso is not only a feast for the eyes and taste buds, but the joy and simplicity of gracious country living is food for the soul!
