We stayed here for 9 days over the New Year's Holidays. We could not have been happier! The owner Craig was very friendly, helpful and accommodating in the extreme. The apartment was very clean, open and airy. The interior design by Craig's wife Pamela was a perfect and tasteful blend of original Asian, Polynesian and Moari inspired artwork. This place is much bigger than the photos show and felt very relaxing and comfortable. We look forward to staying here again in the future and would recommend this place to others without any hesitation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We had a wonderful time. Craig went out of his way to make us comfortable. He provided beach chairs, cooler, snorkel gear and everything we needed. This is one of the best vacation cottages we have ever been to. The grounds are a tropical garden. Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation.Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: My husband is retired and I work as an administrator at a Montessori School in Utah. I am a Kiwi from New Zealand and my husband is from Utah. I am also a retired airline employee so we have travel benefits that allow us to fly all over the world which is a marvelous "perk". We have two amazing daughters - a Montessori teacher and a Horse Trainer/Riding Instructor - a great son-in-law and two lovely grandsons. We love to spend time in New Zealand with all of its breathtaking scenery and dear friends and family. We are very grateful for the many, many blessings in our lives.
Why the Owner Chose Pahoa:
We have always loved the Big Island and, in particular this area of the island and have looked forward to retiring here. We found an ideal lot in the jungle of Leilani Estates and built the house over a long period of time (as we had the time and $$). We have enjoyed working on each detail of the house and look forward to our full retirement when we can spend all of our time on the island. Our home is set back from the road and is screened by tropical plants. It has two separate units - this two bedroom unit at the back of the house and a one bedroom unit in the front. The laundry room is accessed from the exterior and is shared. Craig is onsite for security and maintenance.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy all of the activities described above and feel extremely blessed to be able to do so. The natural beauty of this area and the warmth of the people who live here make for day after day of joy. Biking the Red Road, watching the humpbacks, dolphins and turtles, snorkeling and boogie boarding, going to yoga classes, shopping at the Farmers' Markets and dining at our favorite Thai restaurant in Pahoa (Ning's) fill our days and evenings with pure pleasure.
