To celebrate one of hubby's "bigger" birthdays, we rented this beautiful home for a special vacation with our adult children. It is spacious, extremely well-appointed, yet very comfortable. There were three couples in our group and we all had plenty of space. With all the balconies and roof top palapa, there were ample opportunities to getaway to enjoy a book while listening to the crashing surf. The pool overlooking the ocean is a dream come true and is surrounded with very comfy patio furnishings!! Walks on the beach were a daily occurrence because it is simply gorgeous. The provided boogie boards were put to good use too! So fun. The caretakers did a fantastic job and the property manager (just next door) is very friendly and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and activities. Thelma (one of the owners) was quick to respond with any questions and wonderful to work with. We would absolutely LOVE to return to this home for another dream vacation. It simply couldn't have been better and the memories will always be cherished!Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. I was thrilled to hear your Big B-Day getaway was a success and everyone had such a fabulous time. I hope you will have the opportunity to spend another vacation at our home in the near future. Cheers, Thelma&Peter, Cathie&Spencer,Marcia&Dave

We loved our stay at Casa Tres Amigos, and felt we were in the most beautiful spot on the Mexican Riviera. The house is close to activites (we enjoyed diving, cenotes, zip-lining, ruins, and restaurants), but on a peaceful beach. Security was good, as the house is located within a gated garden, and property managers are next door. The access to the beautiful Caribbean is fantastic. We loved pushing back the sliding glass doors to create a 3-sided room, open to the infinity pool and gorgeous views. We enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling steps from the living room, and the soothing sounds of the sea. The beach has fine white sand, but there are a few rocks at the entry and reefs offshore. The house is brilliantly designed, immaculately clean (a sweet cleaning/caretaker couple comes every week day), and of the finest craftsmanship. Our family agreed that this was the nicest vacation home we have ever rented, anywhere in the world. Only quibble is that the wifi was temperamental, but maybe that could have been resolved had we sought assistance, and I was glad to have the kids unplugged. This is a great house for couples or families, but if you have young children you will want them to be swimmers as the pool is steps from the living room.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are very pleased you enjoyed your holiday and thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, we really do appreciate it. The Wifi connection is usually reliable but please contact our property manager if you are having any problems, he is very helpful. Thank you and we hope you will have the opportunity to stay at our home again. Thelma&Peter, Cathie&Spencer, Marcia&Dave

Our family had a great week of swimming and sight seeing. Spent allot of time in Tulum and some in Akumal. My son really enjoyed the boogie boards especially when we took them with us to Tulum where the waves were much bigger. We went to the ruins at Coba and spent a day at Xel-Ha. We snorkeled at Akumal beach, Half Moon Bay, Yal-Ku Lagoon, some of the Cnotes and of course the reef just to the left of your house. I think the best snorkeling we had all week was at the house. We did quite a bit in 1 week and everyone loves this area of Quintana Roo. The locals are all very friendly. The house is beautiful and the architect that designed it did an exceptional job. I was so glad to find the book with pictures showing the build process. I spent most of my time at the house admiring it. We did leave behind a martini set but couldn't think of anything else that the house didn't already have. Anyone considering renting a house in this area would be very hard pressed to find one better. We all hope to return and would really enjoy a 2 week stay Thanks for allowing us this opportunity. Cheers! RobertRecommended for: Families with teenagers.

My husband and I have been vacationing on the Yucatan coast for over ten years and this property is by far the nicest accommodations we have experienced. From the moment you walk in the door you can feel the love and attention that was paid to the design and decoration of this property. It is immaculately clean and well taken care of. Two other couples joined us, each couple had their own bedroom with en suite bathroom, king bed and balcony. Perfect! Every morning we walked the beach, we spent a lots of time by the pool relaxing and visited local attractions and restaurants in Tulum, Akumal, and Playa. The property owners were great to work with....making our vacation carefree. This was by far the best vacation to date...thanks for sharing your lovely home with us. We hope to return soon.Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to send in a review. We are very happy that you enjoyed your holiday. Hope you are able to stay at our home again. Hi, Sitting here looking out my window at the snow it is hard to believe that I was actually at Casa Tres Amigos in Akumal. If I close my eyes I can nearly hear the ocean and feel the sun bouncing over the waves warming that beautiful bedroom. And I loved to shower while looking at the ocean. One of my favourite parts of the day was being able to open up the sliding glass wall so that the entire living room and kitchen became part of the pool and patio area. It was a singular joy to make coffee and operate the orange juicer in such a gorgeous room. To be able to put down one's coffee cup and pick up one's snorkel gear and head for the ocean! How many people get to snorkel before breakfast! I'd love to go back and see the turtles nesting right there. I have been telling friends about the proximity to beautiful Tulum, Xel- ha and the zip line places. What a fabulous location! I can certainly see doing a return trip with 2 or even three other couples as each of the bedrooms is gorgeous and the house is more than big enough. The kitchen is so well equipped that it's fun to go and buy all the gorgeous fresh produce and put together dinners on the patio. Oh! Yoga on the roof under the palapa..how mega cool is that? Tall mountain pose with a beach view. Thank you for creating such an amazing place. It's my new "happy place".Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

From the second you drive in the yard and witness the grounds and see the grand staircase leading up to the most beautiful home you know you have hit paradise. Once inside and you view the open great room and see the most spectacular view of the infinity pool and the ocean , it will take your breath away. All the bedrooms are large and views from every room. The private washrooms in each room are large with lots of storage. The owners have thought of every convenience to make your holiday special. There are so many activities to do in the area but it is so hard to leave this georgous home. If you want to remember a holiday for life , book this home.Owner response: Thank you so much, we are so glad you enjoyed your holiday. Hope we can do it again. Thelma and Peter

Owner response: Muchas gracias Carolina and family!

6 of us visited Casa and it was my second time. We didn't rent a car instead, used USA-transfer from Cancun airport and dropped by at the supermarket for food for two days or so. Here we learned that on Sunday we can't buy alcohol after certain time, so some of us were so sad. As soon as we arrived to home we were so happy to feel the warm breeze from the beach. And we found some beers in fridge for us - property manager prepared for us as he knows we can not get any beer on Sunday. ( Transport service from Cancun <-> Casa was very efficient, we saved at least two hours for renting a car at the airport, and the day we leave, same driver came on the dot. He was supposed to be at the house 8:45, and he showed up 8:44 am to pick us up) We enjoyed activities around house, sunbathing, pool, snorkeling, boggy bording, kayaking, aslo witnessed a turtle laying eggs, spectacular lightning show at night, etc., we used colectivo (local bus) and local taxi (Armando is very helpful driver whose business card is in the house book, he speak English and he is based in Akumal, so just call him in case you need service, he'll be at the door step. One morning I called him and it was his day off, but he came with his friend taxi driver and brought us to Yal-Ku Lagoon. ) We also asked Melba to cook for us two nights, and both dinners were spectacular! We especially liked chiles Rellenos (Stuffed Peppers) - highly recommend. I can not wait to go back, thanks for the great memories!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So happy you and your friends enjoyed your stay. Great tip on USA transfer if you are not inclined to rent a car. Hope you are able to visit again soon. Thelma&Peter Cathie&Spencer

We spent a wonderfully relaxing week at this fabulous beachfront home with our friends. We whole-heartedly agree with all the glowing comments made in previous reviews. The house itself is beautiful and roomy with a fantastic well-stocked kitchen. With 2 mega grocery stores and many good restaurants only a few minutes drive, there are plenty of eating options. We had so much fun swimming, snorkeling and kayaking all just steps from the house. The coral reef has beautiful tropical fish and, during our stay, turtles were nesting on the beach. One of the highlights was catching a dorado on a fishing trip with Carlos and then having it for dinner that evening. We have been recommending this wonderful vacation home to our friends and look forward to a return visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for such a great review! Glad you enjoyed your holiday. A good time was had by all! Cathie&Spencer

Casa Tres Amigos was so gorgeous! As other reviewers have mentioned, the photos do not do it justice. Falling asleep to the sound and scent of the surf and waking up each morning to a sunrise over the ocean was incredible. The kitchen is fully outfitted, the bathrooms are lovely, the beds are comfortable, and best of all is the pool and beach right outside the door. Favourite elements of our stay included: daily cocktails on the palapa, reading around the pool, snorkeling and kayaking right off the beach, a fishing trip with local fisherman Carlos, the friendly and helpful Melba and Manuel, and jaunts in Chimyuel (sp?) and Akumal Pueblo. Thank you for creating such a haven for us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: It sounds like everyone had such a good time! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Hope you will be able to enjoy it again soon. Thelma and Peter, Cathie and Spencer, Marcia and Dave
